SKYE LKA 16 Judge: Miss Kirsty Miller (Feorlig) BEST OF BREED : 6571 HARRISON Ms J D UK & Ir Ch Knowelspring Jail House Rock For Trenso SKYE JUDGE LKA 16 Skye Terriers I would like to thank the committee of LKA for inviting me to judge at this very well run show. I really enjoyed my day & found the quality of a fairly high standard. I was very happy with my main winners. MPD (2,1a) 1 Huckle’s Silvaspangles Midas Touch, cream baby of 8 months old. Pleasing outline, a fraction too long in back making him dip in topline occasionally but hopefully this will firm up as he matures. Lovely masculine head, with good width to skull. Correctly placed ears which he uses to advantage. Dark, well shaped eyes of a good size giving a pleasing expression. Decent length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Short forelegs, that could be a fraction straighter. Correct oval ribcage with good body coverage for his age. Rib cage not extending back as much as I would like making the loin long. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Moves out well & very soundly, with a happy attitude. BP. PD (1) 1 Woodhead’s Knowlespring Drummer Boy, striking cream boy who was 12 months on the day & has a super coat coming of the correct texture. Presents a lovely well balanced outline when standing, holding a level topline throughout. Super head, with good strength the skull. Well set ears with excellent black fringing. Decent length of neck leading into broad, well placed shoulders. Elbows could be tighter & forelegs could be straighter. Well bodied, with good length of rib leading back into a short loin. Good turn of stifle & well muscled hindquarters. Unfortunately he got frightened while moving around at the beginning & this seemed to put him off for the rest of the day & I could not assess his movement properly, a real shame! JD (1) 1 Herbert’s Tweedsmuir Stargazer, glamorous 15 months old silver dog, with a lot to like! Super coat coming for his age & so well presented. Beautiful outline when standing & holding a firm topline throughout. Excellent head of the correct proportions, with dark expressive eyes. Well fringed ears, set well & used to advantage. Good depth to chest, with elbows tight & short, straight forelegs. Long neck leading back into broad shoulders. Deep oval ribcage set well back into a short loin. Would like more body coverage but this should come with age. Well developed & angulated hind quarters. Moves out soundly but coming & going, I would just like to see him with a bit more get up & go. Should have a bright future. LD (2) 1 McLeod’s Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I at Esgia, super cream, drop of 2 years old who is full of quality. Classic outline, having all the L’s. Masculine strong head, with correct width to skull & nice strong jaw. Well placed drop ears, hanging straight with good fringing. Dark, medium shaped eyes giving a lovely expression. Deep chest, with correct short, straight forelegs. Correct long neck, leading back into broad shoulders. Long, oval ribcage extending right back into a short loin. Strong, well angulated hindquarters with good width & muscle tone. He moves out well & soundly but for me I would like to see him covering the ground a little more. Considered for the RCC. I am sure he will have a bright future; 2 McLeod’s Esgia Murray’s Olympic Gold, black 3 year old dog in such a super coat & well presented. On the table he presented a lovely outline being long, low & level. He has a strong, masculine head with a good strength of jaw, slight stop & moderate width to back skull. Ears well fringed but set slightly too low. Well set, expressive dark eyes. Long neck, leading well back into broad shoulders. Deep chest & decent forelegs with good bone. Ribs set well back into a good short loin & well covered. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Moves freely around the ring & ever so sound, just carries his tail a little proud. OD (4,1) 1 Breeze’s Salena The Magnificent One, another from this kennel out of the top drawer & presented to perfection in a lovely silver coat. Super, elegant outline when standing being so well balanced. He has the loveliest masculine head, with good strength to jaw & back skull. Medium shaped eyes, dark & so expressive. Beautifully fringed ears, so well set & used to advantage. Long neck with a slight crest leading back into well placed shoulders. Well boned forelegs with elbows tight to his deep chest. Oval ribcage covered well, not extending as far back as I would like. Well angulated hindquarters with adequate muscle tone. Moves out well with good ground coverage & sound both coming & going but does intend to lose his topline occasionally. Unfortunately in the challenge today he decided to give up a little & could not match the VD on the move, but I am sure his day will come. Pleased to award him the RCC; 2 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum, superbly presented 4 year old, cream dog with lovely black points. Not as elegant as my winner in outline, but is long, low & holds a firm topline at all times. Super head, masculine & of a good strength. Correct strong jaw, with a good bite. He has well placed ears beautifully furnished with long black fringing, framing his head perfectly. Sufficient length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Not the forelegs of my winner, I would prefer them straighter & with elbows tighter. Deep chest. Oval ribcage, covered well. tailset well & never carried above his back. Well angulated hindquarters with excellent muscletone. He moves freely around the ring & sound both coming & going; 3 Parker’s Glorfindel Deacon Brodie. VD (1) 1 Harrison’s Ch/Ir Ch Knowelspring Jail House Rock for Trenson, my star of the day! You would never believe that this super cream male was 9½ years old! He is in such super coat & condition. He has a classical outline when standing, with an elegant length of necking with a slight crest, leading into a spirit level topline that never faltered. He is presented in tip-top condition with a lovely cream coat & handled to the best advantage. Strong, masculine head, with good strength to jaw & correct bite. Medium sized dark eyes, so full of character. Well set ears which he uses to advantage all the time, a little more fringing would complete the picture. Deep chest. Short, strong, straight forelegs with elbows tight to his chest, he had one of the best fronts of the day! Oval ribcage set right back into a correct short loin. Powerful hindquarters with plenty of muscle tone which he uses to advantage on the move as he powers free & seamlessly around the ring & so sound both coming & going. Very rarely do you see a Skye with such movement, but this boy is just a joy to watch & with everything combined together, I could not deny him the CC & BOB. A very worthy champion & capable of winning many more CCs. Well done! MPB (1) 1 Roberts’ Glorfindel Effort at Sunabil, very much the baby at 6 months old & still with a lot of maturing to do but she has a promising shape & outline. Very pretty head with a cheeky expression. Lovely fringed ears for her age, they just need to firm up. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Still needs to body up as expected but has a good oval shaped ribcage that leads back into a short loin. Well angulated hindquarters, with good muscle. Moved around the ring freely & happily, just carrying her tail a fraction too high. PB (1) 1 Roberts’ Glorfindel Effort at Sunabil. JB (1) 1 Downes’ Tweedsmuir Star Wonder among Tsuki, litter sister to the JD winner & many of the same attributes apply. Pretty bitch of a lovely size & shape. Feminine head with enough strength, dark, well placed sparking eyes. Correctly placed ears with good fringing coming. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Excellent, straight, short forelegs with elbows tight to her chest. Correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. Well angulated rear with good muscle tone. Moves around the ring freely & ever so sound, holding her topline all the way. LB (2) 1 Whincup’s Bunnybois Inspiration, just up my street. Extremely glamorous, up to size cream bitch that creates a very striking picture when viewed from across the ring. Well balanced bitch with good length & holds a sprit level topline at all times. Beautiful head, very feminine but with the strength needed for the breed. Well placed, dark, expressive eyes. Beautifully fringed black ears, framing her head perfectly & used well. Excellent length of neck leading back into well placed shoulders. Short, straight forelegs with elbows tight to her deep chest. Correct oval ribcage covered well, set well back into a good short loin. topline held firm at all times. Well angulated behind with good muscle. Correct coat texture & presented to perfection. Moves out very well & so sound but unfortunately in the challenge was a little reluctant to move & had to give way to the OB for the CC, but it was a very close call & I am sure her title is not to far away. Good luck with her; 2 McLeod’s Noap Charoit Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia, lighter framed silver bitch of a nice make & shape. Very pretty head, with good furnishings & nice pigment. Long neck leading into broad shoulders. A little wide at front & forelegs could be straighter. Deep chest & correct oval ribcage set right back into a short loin. Correct tailset & carried well. Well angulated behind with good muscle. Moves freely & sound both coming & going. Correct harsh coat, presented & handled to get the best from her. OB (4,1) Nice class of three very worth champions. 1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Briar Rose, cracking bitch that just oozes quality & cannot be overlooked. Correct, typical outline when standing. Beautiful head of the correct proportions, with good strength to muzzle, slight stop & good width to skull. Expressive dark eyes set well. Her ears are well placed with good fringing, framing her head nicely. Decent length of neck leading well back in the correctly placed shoulders. Excellent forelegs, short & straight, with her elbows tight to her chest. She has a good deep chest & has an excellent body on her. Her ribs are of the correct oval shape & lay well back into a short loin. Good, well angulated, well muscled hindquarters, with straight legs. tailset well off a level topline which she holds firmly all the time. In excellent coat of the correct texture, that was gleaming on the day. She moves out soundly & with good drive, I would however like to see her use her tail a little more. Today she could not be denied the CC in good company but I just felt that the dogs attitude & freeness on the move pipped her to BOB. A bitch to be very proud of; 2 Breeze’s Ch Salena Silver Sapphire, smaller framed silver bitch who is such a neat little package. Excellent make & shape. Very pretty head with enough strength. Dark, expressive eyes well placed. Correctly set ears with good fringing, framing her head nicely. Good length neck & well placed shoulders. Not the front of my winner. Deep chest & correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. For my personal liking I would like to see her carrying a little more body weight. Well angulated rear which she uses to advantage on the move as she powers around the ring with ease & ever so sound. Presented in tip-top condition with a correctly textured coat & handled to get the very best out of her; 3 Woodhead’s Ch/Ir Ch Knowlespring Mistletoe. VB (1) 1 MacQueen’s Ch Azrakhan Capercaillie, 10 years bitch not showing her age, who I judged previously & awarded her the CC. I still love this bitch, she is everything I look for in a Skye. She has a beautiful shape & so well balanced. Super feminine head but lacking no strength, lovely dark eye so full of expression. So lovely to go over with everything falling into place. Nicely bodied with ribs extending well back into correct short loin. Well angulated behind with good muscletone. Moves out soundly but lacking a bit of enthusiasm today so unfortunately had to give way to the younger bitches today. Presented in the most gleaming black jacket & coat all the way to the ground. The most worthy champion. KIRSTY MILLER |
