Skye Terriers

The Skye mantra is long, low & level. The majority of exhibits could be said to fit into that description today. The length though should be due to a long rib & short loin, loose that correct ratio & a soft topline occurs. Some fronts also need work, the Standard says feet should face forward but in some examples that was not the case at all. Skyes, being ultra glamorous, always look great on the move but muscle behind is really needed & it does give that added extra. Coats were all good in texture with most being straight. Mouths were universally good. Was interested to see that three of the entry were all sibling imports; it seems an incredible litter. Thank you for entering under me.

JD (2)

1 McLeod’s Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I at Esgia, a drop eared cream strongly made with good rib. Good backline that he held well on the move. Well muscled behind moved with drive. Good eye & head;

2 Large’s Juger Edelweiss Mickey Mouse is Madaza, brother to 1 nothing much to split this pair. Not as much muscle behind so was not as positive on the move as his brother & coat not as far on but has the potential to possibly be a better Skye when mature.

PGD (1)

1 Thomson’s Glorfindel Shadow Boxer, grey dog with good eye, head & well placed ear. Oval rib perhaps a little long in loin & I would have liked more muscle behind. Back line level on the stand & on the move.

LD (2)

1 McLeod’s Esgia Murray’s Olympic Gold, prick well fringed ears, good coat with a little wave. Good strong jaw. Front feet well placed. Moved positively with good muscle behind. Topline varied but was generally level;

2 Bailey’s Talyot Nimrod by Marjayn, cream of finer build than 1. Dark eye, good skull. Good crest of neck. Well carried tail. I would have liked more muscle behind. Was a little unsettled & did not move at his best.

OD (5,1a)

1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum, prick eared cream with strong head, good dark eye & well fringed ear. Good front. Oval rib of good length. Coat in in excellent condition well presented. For perfection could be a little lower to ground but that is just being picky in such a package. Good muscle behind, moved positively with drive. CC; 2 Marshall’s Emoticon Kiaora Glorfindel, cream with strong head & good eye. Good rib. Level topline. Well muscled behind, not driving out on the move as strongly as his muscle condition would suggest he could. RCC; 3 Parker’s Glorfindel Deacon Brodie. VD (1) 1 Harrison’s Ch/Ir Ch Knowelspring Jail House Rock for Trenson, well built cream presented in excellent coat. Well fringed prick ear, good eye. Good oval rib, perhaps a little long in loin. Moved soundly. BV. GCD (0).

JB (3,1)

1 Zvezdina’s Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins, prick eared cream bitch. Ears well fringed. Good expression, nice crest of neck. Coat in excellent condition well presented. Black shading still growing out. Good topline held on the move. Movement sound when settled;

2 McLeod’s Noap Charoit Madlen Mardzheri at Esgia, silver grey with well placed prick ear dark eye. Coat needs time but excellent quality. Good backline. Needs more muscle behind.

PGB (2)

1 Burscough’s Glorfindel Shadow Wings at Kilfinan, dark silver grey in excellent coat. Well fringed prick ear. Dark eye, good head. Well placed front feet, good length of rib. Held topline standing & on the move. Moved well. RCC;

2 Hasker’s Perrylands Toffee, cream bitch with well fringed prick ears. Good rib, dark eye. Did not settle on the move.

LB (1)

1 McLeod’s Esgia Andi’s Wimbledon Dream, well coated bitch with heavily fringed ear. Good crest of neck. Backline had a tendency to run down to shoulder. Would have like more muscle behind.

OB (3)

1 Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Briar Rose, good head with dark eye, well placed prick ear with good fringing. Dark silver grey coat in excellent condition, well put down. Good oval rib of good length. Backline level on the stand & on the move. Moved positively with drive behind. Very nice indeed. CC, out showed her kennel mate on the day for BOB;

2 Marshall’s Skyewalkers Ozone Baby at Glorfindel, well presented, feminine cream. Good head ear & dark eye. Strong jaw. Moved positively retaining an excellent backline. Not quite as good in the front;

3 White’s Gumshoe Silent Witness.
