SKYE JUDGE DRIFFIELD 12

Skye Terriers

I was the replacement judge for Elke Spinnrock from Germany (Morningsky). As a consequence, my appointment here was not my own entry in this lovely, old breed I have so admired for many years. I have, in fact, attended Skye Terrier breed club shows in previous years. I wish Mrs Spinnrock a speedy recovery. I was very pleased with the quality of the dogs.

PD (1)

1 BP, Curtis’ Brakemill Barnum, 6½ months cream, very much a baby but a very promising youngster with lots of potential, lovely masculine head, good reach of neck, level topline, excelled in hindquarters, moved out extremely well, very good in body & a lovely outline, liked him a lot & will very definitely watch this young man’s future with a great deal of interest.

JD (1)

1 Parker’s Glorfindel Deacon Brodie, 14 months black, good strong head, level topline, well put together, sound & moved out very well.

YD (1)

1 G Deacon Brodie.

LD (2)

1 RBD, White’s Talyot Menelaus at Gumshoe, very masculine black, lovely dark eye & expression, good mouth, strong muzzle, excellent neck & shoulders, level topline retained at all times, good ribs & short loin, very good hindquarters used to advantage to move soundly & well, very well presented;

2 Burscough’s Glorfindel Secret Shadow at Kilfinan, good head, strong muzzle, pleasing outline. Would prefer him to have a bit more length.

OD (4)

1 BOB, Breeze’s Ch Salena The Special One, my eye was immediately drawn to this silver who possesses good dark points, lovely head & eye, well feathered ears, beautifully balanced throughout, excellent length, lovely quarters fore & aft really used on the move, everything about him simply flows, when he moved round the ring he retained his excellent topline at all times & to top it all was superbly presented;

2 Samuel’s Glorfindel Son Of Angus, 6 years black in full flowing coat, good construction throughout, moved well. Shorter coupled than 1 & not as clean in shoulder.
