SKYE TERRIER

A big thank you to everyone who entered and also a special well done to my stewards who carried on efficiently and smiling throughout. I had been looking forward to the appointment for over 3 years only to spend the week of the show checking the weather forecast. Living less than 1 hour from the venue, by the Wednesday morning I'd realised it was going to be wet but hadn't anticipated how much rain was going to come down on the day. Fortunately our ring was relocated to the Best in Show tent and it was truly a sight to behold watching you all splashing your way across the showground. The ring was not the best and the rain was still able to blow in on us. You are all to be congratulated on your presentation especially as the air was so damp which always has an adverse effect on even the most perfect coat. On the whole most of the Skyes coped well with the constant 'cracking noise' from the marquee framework, but I made allowances for any that seemed unsettled by the conditions. The same with the up and down nature of the ring surface.

JD (1)

1 Garland-Collins Bhuidh Here Be Dragons. Super youngster who shows much promise. Correctly made with a good head and expression. Just needs to mature.

PGD (3)

1 White's Talyot Menelaus At Gumshoe. Shown in excellent condition and in accord with his handler. Well made dog who I have admired since he came out as a puppy and wasn't disappointed when I went over him. Good proportions without exaggeration just needs to mature a little more.

2 Burcough's Glorfindel Secret Shadow at Kilfinan. A delight to go over and a picture standing. Unfortunately a lovely dog who just doesn't make the most of himself despite his handler's efforts.

3 Neilson's Kenocto Black Magic at Auchenbathie

LD (3)

1 Marshall's Glorfindel Black Mage. Not always working with his handler but today he was. Standing he just draws the eye. He has such a masculine head, dark eye and correct ear set. To go over he is such a balanced, well muscled dog and his movement was effortless. I had no hesitation in awarding him the CC and I am confident that more top honours await him.

2 Shuttleworth's Whicheeta Celtic Keepsake. Nicely balanced dog who was unfortunate to come up against the winner. He moved out well but seemed a little unsettled standing which I put down to the noise of the tent.

3 Richardson's Talyot |Learchus ShCM

OD (7,1)

1 Harrison's Knowlespring Jail House Roc For Trenson ShCM. For the first 12 months of his show career this dog was my Nemesis as I became very well acquainted with his back view. Today I enjoyed being able to go over him. He never disappoints, my only criticism is he was carrying a little too much weight for me but he richly deserved the Res CC.

2 Curtis's Ch Gumshoe Bugsy Malone of Brakemill ShCM. This dog is a showman who has just improved with age. Very masculine head. He is top size but balanced. Shown in good hard condition which was reflected in his movement.

3 Samuel's Ch Skyelander Wee Man of Storr.

PB (4,2)

These two babies were so different being months apart but both a delight.

1 Marshall's Glorfindel Sugar Puf. Nicely made feminine puppy who has a certain elegance about her. She moved out well and was not phased by the conditions. Best Puppy.

2 Grainger's Perrylands Georgia. What a little doll, she has definitely been here before. She shows much promise as her proportions are correct, my only criticism is her ears are still very tight but she still has growing to do.

JB (2)

1 Woodhead's Knowlespring Mistletoe. Very eye catching feminine bitch. Balanced head with dark eye. Well proportioned body and moved with ease. She just needs to mature a little more.

2 Barrass's Lavaux Spirit of The Isle of Gallondean. Nice youngster who seemed a little unsettled. Feminine head, good proportions and excellent rear angulation. Unfortunate to meet the winner.

PGB (5)

1 Marshall's Bhuidh Sojourners Truth at Glorfindel. She is just coming into her own. Her expression is full of mischief, just so expressive. Well proportioned body, she moved out with drive and purpose.

2 Boothman's Papplewick Strathisla of Carnath. Such an honest type, what you see is what you get. Correctly made without exaggeration. She moved out well but just lacking in coat.

3 King's Glorfindel Spring Surprise for Celticbridge 4 Bell's Glorfindel Spring Secret

LB (3)

1 Shuttleworth's Whicheeta Celtic Cruisader. Pleasing bitch who fills the eye. Well constructed and presented in good condition. Her movement did not seem as fluid today.

2 King's Celticbridge Stormy Waters. Not as mature as winner, well made young lady who didn't seem happy with the conditions today. Movement similar to winners.

3 White's Salena Special Effect at Gumshoe

OB (6,3)

1 Barraclough's Ch/SU Ch Skyeotts Amnesix High Sky Miracle at Wemoway (IMP). This drop ear has just continued to improve with age. She is feminine but commanding. Correct head and ear set, good front and shoulder. Length is from the rib and her rear is a power house which makes her movement so effortless. CC & BOB.

2 McLeod's Ch Esgia's Sula The Late Edition ShCM. A long time favourite of mine. She was a cheeky pup who grew into a Diva. She is very hard to ignore in the ring. So feminine and elegant, she fills the eye and is a delight to go over. She moved out well and was just unfortunate to meet the winner. Res CC

3 Samuel's Skyelander Midnight Dream

Mrs Cath Parker
