Skye Terriers

I am astonished at how the breed has travelled backwards & not improved. Temperaments have definitely improved, but movement is quite unacceptable in some exhibits.

Presentation is very good but often hides underlying problems. I concur with all Colin Richardson wrote after WELKS & am upset by some of our major winners’ behaviour to other exhibitors. Surely it is time to draw a line before our breed is totally destroyed.

PD (2)

1 White’s Gumshoe Moses Jones, well balanced 9 months dark silver, super masculine head, nicely fringed & placed ears, crested neck leading into well placed shoulders. For a young puppy moved out well;

2 Marshall’s Emoticon Kiaora, what a great head this youngster has, cream with black pigment. I am sure his jacket will clear with maturity, just 9 months of age & of a much larger stature than 1. Hope he has stopped growing. Did not move as well as 1.

JD

1 Curtis’ Brakemill Barnum, cream, masculine head, well balanced in profile, well muscled, moved with drive. I would prefer a shorter loin/rib ratio. Beautifully presented.

PGD

1 Parker’s Glorfindel Deacon Brodie, dark silver coat of correct texture, masculine head, pleasing neck & shoulder placement, rib to loin ratio good (short loin), well made quarters, moved with vigour.

OD (5)

1 Richardson’s Talyot Learchus, I judged this exhibit 2 years ago & my critique read, "Would like to see this exhibit when fully developed”. I was not disappointed. Excellent head, strong muzzle, good bite, well made forehand, crested neck & well laid shoulders, well sprung ribcage, short loin, excellent hindquarters, well muscled short hock, moved effortlessly round the ring on a loose lead, very well presented which enhanced his dark silver coat. CC & BOB:

2 Miller’s Feorlig Arfur Sixpence, unfortunate to meet 1 as I had previously awarded him RCC. Has matured on nicely & also grown some ear fringes. One of only two in this class who moved with drive & correctly. RCC;

3 Breeze’s Ch Salena The Special One.

PB

1 Hartfield’s Gumshoe Shot In The Dark at Moshanta, what a delightful young lady, 9 months on the day, dark silver coat gleaming & well presented when stacked & on the move, dead level topline, lovely feminine head, good shoulder placement, good angulation. Beautifully balanced youngster who worked well with her handler. BP;

2 White’s Gumshoe Silent Witness, litter sister to 1 & holds similar attributes. Perhaps just not quite the length of 1 & decided it was not time to walk. A number of exhibits disliked the white markings on the floor.

JB

1 Curtis’ Brakemill Briar Rose, 14 months, lovely youngster, correct coat texture, light silver colour, feminine head, well placed ears, crested neck, well laid shoulders, well bodied for age, nicely balanced, good angulation. Moved a little close behind but I am sure this will improve with maturity. CC.

PGB (4)

1 Green’s Verony Night Sky, pale silver youngster, super feminine head, crested neck into excellent shoulders, good ribcage & length, short loin. As level as can be on the move & when her handler stops fidgeting with her she free stands herself. RCC, less fidgeting & it would have been the CC. She is more mature & muscled than CC winner & I am sure these two will change places from time to time;

2 Proud’s Salena Midnight Diamond for Dolphaz, pleasing head. Not as much length as 1 & of a larger size. Presented well & well muscled, moved OK;

3 Bell’s Glorfindel Spring Secret.

LB (0).

OB

1 Marshall’s Bhuidh Sojourners Truth at Glorfindel, silver, excellent in profile but not happy on the move. Pleasing head but I would like a little more foreface. Good eye, crested neck, level topline, good coat & presentation.
