SCOTTISH WINDSOR 10 Judge: Mr F Kane SCOTTISH JUDGE WINDSOR 10 Scottish Terriers A good entry. There were plenty of quality exhibits. PD (0). JD 1 Brueik Magnum Opus, high quality dog of lovely type, great substance & with a quality masculine head, excellent quarters which he uses well, moved with good stride & held topline with good tail carriage. the first dog I handled on the day & I found nothing to challenge him in the dogs CC, his second. In the challenge for BOB the older bitch was just a little firmer over the loin; 2 Trakside Flying Scotsman at Charmil, very smart, short backed, excellent outline, good tailset, quarters & goes very smartly. Not yet the substance of 1 but a lot of quality; 3 Jimmy of Ginger And Black. PGD 1 Brueiks Magical Connection, good shape, excellent ribs & in good coat, clean head of good planes. Eye just a little large. Holds his shape well on the move. Just a touch heavy in front; 2 Petmon Light Of My Life, different mould being a little more streamlined & without the substance of winner. Good head planes, eye & ears. A touch narrow in front. Holds topline well on the move; 3 Bonnieanne Norman of Tahgmor. LD 1 Tamzin Mr Prospector, compact, low to ground, at a teenage stage. Needing a little more body & substance which will help his topline. Beautiful head, clean skull & balanced foreface, best mover in the class; 2 Sweet Garret My Sweet Geordie, brindle, excellent rib, coat & quarters which he uses well. Could be better in shoulders & front & this shows on the move; 3 Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor. OD Most difficult class of the day. Mixed for type & the dog I really liked lacked body on the day. 1 Amberyl Beinn Mor, won on his qualities of freedom of action, excellent topline & good quarters, long clean head, good eye & ears. I think a little more coat on him would help him. Carried himself with style but I found him a little narrow in front action which told against him later; 2 Ch Torcraig With A Difference, wheaten, wonderful body & coat, excellent bone & substance. Could be a little cleaner through the skull. Is well made & holds his shape on the move but lacked spirit & went without much enthusiasm for the job; 3 Ch Millingford Northern Rock. V 1 Tuc Bright Star Eyed Boy, at almost 8 years this dog was in great form, in lovely hard coat, excellent firm body, great topline & went with great style, masculine head, good eye. In the line-up he looked full of type & full of self importance when he moved. RCC. PB 1 Rilynson Princess Regal, 7 months, beautiful brindle puppy, lovely to go over, beautiful head, excellent substance for her size & big powerful quarters, moved very well holding topline. Disappointed to see her get her tail over her back later & hope this will settle. BP; 2 Berrybreeze Explorer, 10 months, excellent puppy, combining quality with substance. I slightly preferred head proportions of winner. Moved well & held her topline well & scored in tail carriage over the winner. A little unlucky here; 3 Forestree Apple Charlotte. JB 1 Trakside Springtime of Magandthan, brindle who showed with spirit & looks well standing free, as her handler could do a little more for her. Very good shape & balance, scoring in neck & strength of foreface, clean front action, used quarters well; 2 Glenheath Grazia, quality bitch I liked a lot, long head which needs to develop a little more strength in foreface but has good expression, obviously feminine. Close call between these two bitches, when they sparred up to each other the winner’s outline & balance just pipped her; 3 F Apple Charlotte. PGB 1 Torcraig Black Pearl, stood out here, presented to perfection in great coat, long clean head, good ribbing & short coupled. Would like a slightly higher tailset but this could be helped if she showed with a little more spirit; 2 Millingford Royal Affair, very good mover with great attitude & this had great appeal for me. However a little longer cast than winner & not the firmness of body. Still young & time will remedy these things & she should finish a lovely bitch; 3 Petmon Miss Tiggywinkle. LB Excellent class for depth of quality. 1 Ashkeltar Maybe This Time at Delandmar, top sized bitch who appealed greatly for her substance & movement. Her handler does nothing to help her & she often stands running up in the rear but on the move & standing free she is level & firm. In excellent coat, long well balanced head & good expression; 2 Torcraig Fair Enough, wheaten, a stand out winner on the table as she has a beautiful head & great body & coat. When she moved she did nothing to help herself or her handler & didn’t use her quarters or tail, a great pity; 3 Glenheath Chit Chat. OB Hardest decision of the day between the top two bitches. 1 Dan Ch Ayrzol Ozone, wonderfully free on the move fro a low to ground bitch. I liked her head for its balance & cleanness, beautiful neck, shoulder & front, good substance for her size & really used her quarters well, kept firm level topline at all times & this won her this close decision. CC & BOB: 2 Ch Brio Inquisitive, since this bitch has won a terrier group under me, I obviously think highly of her & she is a beautiful example of the breed. Shown in superb coat & condition, everything in balance & with tremendous substance where she scores for me. Just a tendency to run up behind at odd moments & the winner’s firmness at all times decided the issue. RCC; 3 Ch Brio Exquisite. FRANK KANE |
