SCOTTISH JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 10

National terrier 3.4.10

Scottish Terriers

National Terrier at Granby hall 1968 was the first Championship show that I exhibited at. So it was with some satisfaction that 42 years later I had the opportunity to judge Scottish Terriers at the premier Terrier show.
Main point to watch is front construction. Many, otherwise worthy dogs
were narrow in front with rather bent legs or out at elbow. A square front with adequate width is the requirement.

Minor Puppy Dog No entries

Puppy Dog (1)
1. Thomas’ Geomeg Edison 11 months black. Heavy bone, with good width in front.
Well ribbed deep body with level topline. Moved with drive, showed steadily.

Junior Dog 1 absent

Novice Dog No entries

Post Graduate Dog (6)

1. Rees’ Rabbonai Black Diamond at Miacarla Good length of head with pleasing eye and expression..
Short coupled with desired neck and shoulder placement. Well angulated hindquarters. Scored in front over

2. Hopcutt’s Highland Dancer at Celticbridge. Pleasing head, with keen expression. Strong muzzle .
Heavy bone, with deep ribs. Presented in good coat and condition and shown to advantage.

3.Hill’s Bonnieanne Norman of Tahgmor Very pleasing front and body properties, good length of head. Needs a new coat.

Limit Dog (8, 2 abs)

1. Hovagimyan’s Tamzin Mr Prospector Long head with correct eye and keen expression. Sound square front.
Scored in neck and shoulder placement. Ultra short deep body. Well angulated and muscled hindquarters.
Moved and showed to advantage. Presented in excellent coat and condition. RCC

2. Farrand’s Amberyl Beinn Mor Eye catching, long clean head but would prefer a deeper set eye which
would give a keener expression. Adequate bone, with very pleasing neck and shoulder placement.
Short coupled, level topline. Rather close in hind movement, exuberant showman.

3. Dixon’s Chatterdale Diablo Made up a trio of promising young dogs.

Open Dog (4)

1.Earl’s Turnaware Buccaneer I have admired this dog from the ringside and was not disappointed on handling him.
Long clean head with strong muzzle. Keen expression and well placed ears.
Heavy bone with sound square front Scored in deep body with spring of rib. Level topline, muscular hindquarters. Well presented and shows to advantage. He is up to size but I considered his overall qualities worthy of CC and BOB

2. Kenny’s Ch. Millingford Northern Rock Eye catching dog that scores in long clean head, very good eye and expression. Pleasing neck and shoulder placement. Not the bone and substance of above but shows to advantage.
Moves soundly but lacked muscle tone in hindquarters today.

3. Boyce’s Ch Trackside By The Loch

Minor Puppy Bitch (3)

1.Dauncey’s Glenmiar Black Sapphire Just 6 months. Good length of head, but would prefer a keener expression. Pleasing bone and front, well ribbed. Very well developed hindquarters. Showed and moved steadily.

2.Young’s Forestree Apple Charlotte

Balanced head, short coupled. Scored in neck and shoulder placement. Well presented pleasing outline,
moved and showed very well.

2. Rees’ Rabbonai Blackberry at Miacarla Good length of head with well placed ears.
Pleasing body properties and good hind angulation. Would prefer a straighter front.

3.Lawrence’s Trackside Chocolate Box of Sweet Garret.

Junior Bitch (4)

1.Baker’s Glenheath Grazia Top quality youngster. Long clean head. Scored in front, low slung deep body.
Muscular quarters. Moves soundly and shows to advantage. Presented in good coat and condition.

2. Boyce’s Trackside Tiffin Pleasing head of good length, with keen expression.
Well boned legs but would prefer more width in front. Pleasing body properties.
Presented in good coat and shows to advantage. Not quite the drive in hind action of the above.

3. Long’s Elfrica Belle.

Novice Bitch (2 1 abs)

1 Milburn- Gates’ Liroda Earth Angel Reserve in previous class. Nice sort, balanced head with good front
and well ribbed body. Did not do herself justice on the move. Well presented.

Post Graduate Bitch (5 1 abs)

1.Long’s Elfrica Little Black Number
