SCOTTISH MANCHESTER 25 Judge: Mrs Zena Thorn-Andrews SCOTTISH JUDGE MANCHESTER 25 Not a huge entry but I was lucky enough to have some worthy Scotties. I must mention that rears were mostly rather too straight and long in back pasterns, giving a rather stilted movement. PD (6) 1 Chapman & Tyler Berrybreeze Soul Man. Best Puppy. Promising 6 mth old, not yet used to the lead, but he was trying his best to oblige his handler. Nice to go over, when he got his act together, I liked his head and ear placement. Sound in front, with good sized feet well padded. OK in rear. Excellent coat texture for age. 2 Miller & Hoare Glenaffric Hidden Magic. Older and also appealed to me. Not quite as much rear angulation as above, but he has a lovely body coming on, well off for bone, Ribbing carried well back. I thought he would make up well in future. 3 tilley Fredrick Oriono Kerai. JD (2) 1 Webster Eimahans’ Phantom Menace Of Pepilarue R CC. An absolute treasure to go over, your hands just flow over his breed points, I admired his head, neck and topline all of the same length, taught to me years ago by Dan Ericsson. Super front, with well laid shoulder and tips of blades set the right distance apart for the front to be hung from body, and not too wide or narrow. True mover, in lovely condition throughout, with an exc. head & expression to top it off. Also B Spec Beg. 2 Norton Divadell Mighty Quinn. Shorter in neck and not quite the flow in movement as he is rather too heavy in body at the moment. Good for size and head proportions. Ears set nicely too. OD (4) 1 Lockwood Filisite Brash Rare Treasure at Lochgems CC BOB. In immaculate condition, with excellent front and forechest, long clean head and eye placement correct. Neat ears, set well up on skull. Firm level topline, good strong quarters. In hard jacket. Excellent length of stride in profile and dead precise up and down. Pleased to hear it was his third CC. Well done! 2 Cockayne Ch Am Trakside Gabriel Oak. A nice quality brindle, needs more layback of upper arm to give a longer stride in front, so he short steps somewhat. Otherwise close up and in super body condition, holds a level firm backline, harsh jacket, well presented. 1 Webster Eimahans’ Phantom Menace Of Pepilarue B Sp Beg. 2 Tilley Fredrick Oriono Kerai Up, from the puppy class. Topline needs to settle as he is a little roached in back. Nicely handled and in good body and muscle for a puppy. PB (2) 1 Coles Berrybreeze Soul Sister: Sister to the dog pup I see. So a 6 mth old, just in need of more bend of stifle, otherwise very promising. Liked her head and almond eyes. Neat ears, OK in neck length, sound front, bone & feet of the best. Really nice quality babies these two siblings. JB (3) 1 Peyton Carisco Winter Solstice. Stiff and rigid on the table but very relaxed on the floor and moved out well. Just in need of some more show training to make more of herself. She was giving her handler a hard time. 2 Norton Divadell Harleyquinn. This girl was a “wriggle” and also could do with more handling & training. Her tail comes over her back too far, but body short and cobby, with muscular loin. Moved OK in profile, a bit erratic up and down. LB (3) 1 Bell Slievecroob Maclili B CC. I liked her type and pleasing short back, firm strong body, topline steady, powerful rear showing a clean pair of hocks going away. Topped with a feminine head, which was stronger than the second placed girl, who was close up in most respects. Her outstanding rear gained the day in the challenge, as I felt many were rather too straight behind and lacked the power to drive from the rear. 2 Rutherford Carisco Careless Wispa. Also nice all through, with a good front not too loose or over tight, good backline and well set on tail. Maybe a mite longer in back than winner though. In lovely body and condition, close up to the top winners. OB (2) 1 Marcinekova Int Ch Carisco Dream Queen. Stocky looking, good for proportions of height to length, well made under a harsh coat. Sound in front and shoulders set nicely back. Moved true all ways. Her dam was second Limit I see. 2 Coles Berrybreeze Quintessa. Dam of the two puppy winners, what a treasure to possess! More elegant than above, but that is not what I was quite looking for in a Scottie. Keeps a super profile and true going away. Pleasing head and ear set, rather out at elbows. 1 Broome Liroda Midnight Kiss At Evingbriar VW Res CC B Vet. Lovely bitch hard to believe she was 10. Good to go over, solid body, true front and rear. Rather a stringy tail lacking hair, which detracts a little but set well and carried erect. In good coat, and body condition. Moved so well in the challenge. 2 Bell Lomondview Foxy Lady. Another in lovely nick for 9 yrs old. She knew the ropes and had “brakes” when she thought she wanted to stop and turn! Credit to both their owners, for keeping them in such wonderful condition. Zena Thorn Andrews |
