SCOTTISH MANCHESTER 14 Judge: Mr D Ericsson BEST OF BREED : 1436 ANNAN Mrs C A Lomondview Athol Rose SCOTTISH JUDGE MANCHESTER 14 Scottish Terriers Many thanks for a good weekday entry which I enjoyed judging. Apologies for such a late report due to many other commitments. PD (2) 1 Earl’s Eskwyre Tom Foolery at Rolanka, sturdy thick-set brindle puppy with big ribs, excellent bone & substance, masculine head which must not thicken, wonderful double pin-wire coat in good order, good quarters, full of his own importance showing really well. Still needs to drop in body; 2 Dixon’s Millingford Royal Eclipse at Chatterdale, very smart black puppy of the type I like, long clean head, good eye & ears, excellent body, very good topline, neck & shoulders & he has good quarters & perfect tailset, could perhaps do with a little more bone, not so happy showing & needs to gain more confidence in the ring, all of which I am sure will come with age. JD (3,1a) 1 Todd’s Eskwyre Waterloo Sunset, black masculine dog of good type who needs more substance & coat could have been presented in better order. Head of good length with good mouth. Moved OK; 2 Marcinekova’s Eshly Ir-It Scottish, big wheaten dog, rather long-cast & I would have liked him deeper in body with a better front, very good hindquarters, fails in ears & tail carriage not his fortune, happy mover. PGD (4,1) 1 Beckton’s Glengracie Formula One, masculine thick-set wheaten dog of excellent breed type, scores in spring of rib & depth of body, very good front, bone, coat & topline, good set-on of tail, very hard coat in good order, long masculine head, showed with great enthusiasm, pressed hard in the challenge, wish he had better pigmentation & hind movement could be more positive, but nonetheless a very good dog; 2 Meek’s Benartybrae Macarena at Benbetham, wheaten masculine dog of excellent breed type, very good front, deep big ribbed body, short back, hard coat in good order, a little strong in head & he could have used his hindquarters better on the move, presented in good order; 3 Pearce’s Berrybreeze Masterpeace. LD (5,1) 1 Rutherford’s Carisco Midas Touch, very pleasing wheaten dog who handles really well & he is very correctly made throughout. Masculine head of good length, good mouth, ears & eyes, fair pigmentation, very good front, good bone, deep body, well sprung ribs, level topline, big quarters, hard double coat, rather severe trimming of tail makes it appear somewhat low set, but, more importantly, it is not! Moved very well & showed with great gusto. RCC; 2 Peace’s Berrybreeze Say Cheese, black, big bodied dog with good spring of rib, excellent topline & hind angulation, very good coat in excellent condition, head could be cleaner & I would have liked better shoulders, not so happy on the table, moved happily but a little short stepping on the move; 3 Marcinekova’s Eshly Ir-it Scottish. OD (4) 1 Coley’s Ch Kingsview Just Stewart , short backed brindle dog of lovely type & size, long clean head, good eye, ears & mouth, dead perfect front which is wide with good straight heavily boned front legs, deep body with good spring of rib, very short coupled & his body is low slung, hard double coat in pristine condition, excellent quarters, showed well, won the CC with a bit in hand; 2 Annan’s Ch Lomondview Copper Coin, another good brindle dog with lots to like, good head, eye & ears, very short back, good spring of rib & excellent depth of body, strong bone, good quarters, needs to put a little more into showing & he could have moved with more power of propulsion; 3 Green & Farrand’s Royal Dragoon Captain Colin Campbell. VD (1) A. PB (6,1) 1 Kirk & Kenny’s Millingford Royal Ermine, delightful black puppy of really lovely type, wonderful body properties, feminine head of good length with excellent eyes & ears, good front, excellent topline, coat & presentation. Showed well & won BP; 2 Milburn-Gates’ Liroda Paisley Print, well developed brindle puppy with excellent body, good front, pleasing head, eye a little round & I would have liked her stronger behind, excellent temperament & she showed well for one so young; 3 Meek’s Benartybrae Love In A Mist at Benbetham. JB (3) Difficult class with two very good bitches that could change places any day. 1 Boyce’s Trakside Scotsmans Girl, very classy black bitch showing with great enthusiasm & moving very freely never putting a foot wrong in the ring. Really lovely head of great quality with clean skull, neat ears, good eye, perfect front, good spring of rib, level back, good quarters, perhaps not in her very best bib & tucker on the day, but I liked her very much. RCC; 2 Herd’s Tatler Tweedbank at Feregait, very smart dark brindle bitch in immaculate coat & condition, good head with excellent eye & expression, good front, excellent neck & shoulders, very good topline, coat & body, big quarters, showed well, perhaps a touch finer all through than the winner which was a deciding factor here; 3 Marcinekova’s Elizabeth Ir-It Scottish. PGB (7,5) 1 Rowland & Rees’ Dottys Little Girl at Rabbonai, sizeable black bitch of quality, very good head with good ears, excellent front, deep body, presented in good order & showed to advantage. Would have liked a stronger rear with more powerful quarters, but overall a bitch who appealed a lot; 2 Kirk’s Whitwitch Twigglet, black, smaller than above, very deep body, hard double coat, head could have more quality, fair front & rear, moved OK, excellent breed type. LB (4,2) 1 Walker’s Benartybrae Salsa avec Beaureveur, very assertive bitch who handles well on the table, excellent front, very deep body, good bone, topline & rear, excellent tail carried well, head needs a bit more quality & she would benefit from carrying less weight, very alert on the move showing well; 2 Elizabeth Ir-It Scottish, black bitch with clean outline & very long head, large in ears & she is too light & racy in body & needs better spring of rib, coat rather soft, excellent temperament & movement. OB (3,2) 1 Annan’s Lomondview Athol Rose alone in her class but well worth waiting for! Gassy bitch of lovely make& shape with quality written all over her. Perfect neck & shoulders, very good topline, short back, excellent tailset, very good quarters, stands well on sound legs & has a good front, lovely feminine head with keen eye & good ears, never stops showing & exemplifies the phrase ‘looks willing to go anywhere & do anything’ to perfection. CC & BOB, delighted to see her shortlisted in the group where she put on a flawless performance. VB (0). DAN ERICSSON (Sweden) |
