SCOTTISH DRIFFIELD 15 Judge: Mr David Guy BEST OF BREED : 3972 ROWLAND, Mrs J & REES Mr M & Mrs C Dottys Little Girl At Rabbonai TAF SCOTTISH JUDGE DRIFFIELD 15 Scottish Terriers MPD (2) 1 Kenny-Marriott & Marriott’s Millingford Kings Choice, it was a pleasure to start this appointment by finding this quality 6 months black puppy in my first class. What a head, well balanced, punishing with a correctly set eye & well placed ears. Super over the neck & shoulder, enough rib for age, ok for bone, well off for body. Very good strong well muscled hindquarters with a well set & carried tail. Coat just coming through, yes he is still immature as he should be but, his true to breed type & his great carriage & style carried him through to the RCC, & BPB. I feel this puppy will have a great future given a fair chance & luck on his side; 2 Boyce’s Trakside Myths And Legends, this young man is has a tremendous rib & carried a good body, not as clean over the neck & shoulder as the winner, balanced head, good bone, in good coat & condition, on the move he was true coming towards but a touch unsettled going away. JD (2) 1 Patchett’s A From Dash Mountain Farm's Mr Ashgate at Skircoat, 16 months boy who is up to size for me, good width in front, head could be cleaner as tends to be broad all through. Strong neck, enough rear angulation, on the move he was OK coming but moved closely going away; 2 Salmon’s Carisco Northern Light at Scarscot, 16 months dog with a good coat texture but requires better presentation. Alert keen expression but his skull is too broad, good spring, carried enough body, topline falls away towards the croup & his tail is low set which spoils the picture. YD (3) 1 Pagram’s Torcraig Sydnificant, a black I have judged before of good breed type & who carries a big body. His head is clean & balanced, dark eye correct mouth neat well placed ears. Short coupled & a well set tail was presented in super coat of the correct texture. He put a lot in to his showing & retained his outline at all times; 2 Lawrence’s Sweetgarret Northern Lights, 18 months black dog with a masculine head which could be a touch cleaner for me, lovely solid well ribbed body, good coat texture, good legs & feet, his tailset tends to be low & this spoils the picture. On the move he was ok coming towards. Well handled to get the best from him; 3 Patchett’s From Dash Mountain Farm's Mr Ashgate at Skircoat. PGD (1) 1 Pagram’s Torcraig Golden Chance, wheaten of good breed type, strong powerful head, well set eye & expression well placed ears. Today he was carrying a little too much weight over the neck & shoulder for me. Good front with a deep well ribbed body He has a correct tailset. On the move held his topline & was true both ways & showed with confidence. His coat texture is correct & was presented in first class order as were all from this kennel. LD (2) 1 Meek’s Benartybrae Macarena at Benbetham, wheaten dog of almost 4 years, strong foreface but could be cleaner in skull, today he had a touch of winter nose & I would prefer better pigmentation. Well off for body & rib, good bone, on the move he made the most of himself out & back & retained his outline in profile; 2 Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor, this boy has a huge body & rib, strong enough in head, good bone, lovely front, today on the move he was a little sluggish & did not make the best of himself. OD (3) 1 Rutherford’s Ch Carisco Midas Touch, a quality wheaten who is well made all through, correct breed type & soundly made. Long clean balanced head dark eye giving a good expression well placed ears strong neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline & good tailset, true front. His coat is of good texture & was well presented giving a good picture. He out moved out well if a little too interested in the smells, displaying true movement both ways. Pleased to award him the CC well done, in the challenge for BOB the bitch was just a touch more positive & on her toes; 2 Crawshaw’s Trakside Wellington at Levenkirk, this well balanced dog looked well today but was not cooperative on the move & tended to hang his head which spoilt the picture. He has a pleasing head & dark eye neat ear well placed shoulders & level topline in fit, presented in fit hard condition; 3 Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor. MPB (2,1) 1 Chapman, Bradley & Herd’s Mis Brueik Tickled Pink by Berrybreeze, this raw 6 months black baby gave a good account of herself for one so young. At present she needs to thicken all through for which she has plenty of time. Dark eye, good mouth, coat just coming through, she really made the most of herself on the move & strode out with confidence & style. PB (2) 1 Kenny & Marriott’s Millingford Fire Queen, 6 months black who is very well off for body & is well ribbed up, adequate front angulation, good bone for size, good tailset, could have a touch more rear angulation. Coat of good texture that was well presented. Feminine head. On the move she was sound out & back but did not have the length of stride of the dog puppy who beat her for best puppy. Never the less a quality girl who was well handled; 2 Rowland’s Rabbonai Raindrop, this 11 months black was not at all happy in the ring & did not cooperate on the move, she too is well off for body, has good width in front & displayed soundness on the move even if she did not like the ground today. Good topline & tailset. Well presented coat that was in good condition. JB (5,1) 1 Rutherford’s Carisco My Leading Lady, 17 months b/br of correct type & good quality & nice to go over. Well balanced head, correct dentition, well set eye, good neck & shoulder, deep well ribbed body uses her tail correctly good coat texture. On the move she made the best of herself to win this class; 2 Patchett’s Skircoat Sonata, 12 months brindle who was well off for body, front ok, balanced in head, OK over the neck & shoulder but could do with a little more rear angulation, on the move she was OK coming & going but did not have the length of stride in profile of the winner; 3 Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor. YB (4) 1 Pagram’s Torcraig Sea Pearl, this black has a great body & spring of rib & is so short coupled, balanced & feminine head with well placed & used ears. Good deep front, good topline, well muscled hindquarters Her correctly textured coat was presented in first class condition giving a super outline. When asked to move she was true front & back. In the challenge her true breed type & correct compact body carried her through to the RCC. Well done; 2 Lawrence’s Sweetgarret Highland Lass, this 18 months girl gave a good account of herself, she too is well balanced, ample rib & body, well balanced head. Sufficient bone for size, good coat texture. On the move she was good in profile & displayed good profile movement using her tail at all times; 3 Patchett’s Skircoat Sonata. PGB (3,1) 1 Lawrence’s Chatterdale Dark Star of Sweetgarret, 4 years bitch, balanced head, correct mouth, well placed ears. Clean over the neck & shoulder but could be slighter tighter in elbow. Well off for body & rib, coat in good order. On the move she was OK coming towards but a little unsettled going away; 2 Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor, this 12 months happy girl was full of herself & made it difficult to access her on the move. Nice head & eye, ample width in front but needs to carry a lot more body, coat texture good, enough bone for size. LB (2) 1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Born To Boogie, a bitch of good type, she has that look of quality, long clean head neat ear super run in of neck & shoulder. Good spring of rib but I would prefer them to go back further as she could do with being a touch short in loin for me. She free stands to show her level topline & well set tail. Coat of good texture, gave a very good account of herself on the move coming & going. A quality girl; 2 Boyce’s Trakside Fairy Queen, another quality bitch who appeared unsettled at times when standing & on the move. Thick set all through, today I felt she carried too much weight over the neck & shoulder & this made her appear loaded in shoulder. Big rib, correct bone, in lovely coat & condition. On the move she tended to throw her front coming towards but was good going away. OB (2) 1 Rowland & Rees’ Dottys Little Girl at Rabbonai, this is such a well constructed bitch of good type, she has quality but still keeps her true thickset breed type. Long clean head with neat well placed ears. Good run in of neck & shoulder free stands to show her level topline well set tail big deep ribs. Strong quarters which she used to advantage. Presented in super coat & condition & put on a polished performance to win the CC which I understand makes her up & deservedly so, she then went on to BOB. I was pleased to see give a good account of herself in the group. Well done; 2 Maidment’s Berrybreeze Explorer at Daxidin, this well balanced black also gave a good account of herself & was handled to advantage. When free standing she too gives a good outline. Good body & rib, could have a touch more width in front for me. Good topline, tailset OK. On the move she was good going away & in profile retaining her outline. DAVID GUY |
