SCOTTISH DARLINGTON 11 Judge: Mr Barry Day SCOTTISH JUDGE DARLINGTON 11 Scottish Terriers VD & MPD (0). PD (2) 1 Montgomery & Boyce’s Trakside French Connection, typy brindle with masculine head & neat ears, decent spring of rib but could be a shade lower to ground, good for topline & in an acceptable coat, showed well & moved OK. JD (1) A. PGD (3) 1 Rutherford’s, Carisco My Leading Man, quality black making a lovely compact outline, masculine head, lovely deep, well ribbed & nicely coupled body, good bone, pleasing neckline, topline & rear angulation, moved & showed well. CC; 2 Pollock’s Millingford Winter Lion, typy, moved well, good for head & ear, deep, well ribbed body with good bone. Not quite having the coupling or angulation of 1; 3 Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor. LD (4) 1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Dizzee Rascle, good for size & type, nicely balanced all through, pleasing head & expression with a good flow of neck into a good topline, nicely constructed forehand, well ribbed body of the correct breadth & depth, in good jacket, moved & showed well, close up for the CC where I felt 1 was a shade more compact; 2 Rutherford’s Carisco I’m Your Man, I liked for type although there is a little more of him than 1, masculine head & reasonably constructed in front, pleasing neckline with good body in bone, well developed quarters but not quite the rear angulation or movement of 1; 3 Eteo’s Glenmiar Whisky Mac at Jancliff. OD (4) 1 Goddard’s Emandem Black Pudding, typey black with pleasing head & expression, neat ears, good neckline & reasonably constructed front, good low to ground body & with pleasing quarters. I would have preferred a little more rear angulation. Moved OK; 2 Hill’s Bonnieanne Norman of Tahgmor, masculine head with a lovely deep, well ribbed body, very good bone & well developed quarters. Not quite the front construction that I was looking for & not in the best of jackets. Moved OK. VB & MPB (0). PB (4) 1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Glad All Over, good for size, beautifully balanced black with a clean, feminine head, good eye, lovely flow of neck into a good topline, well set tail, well constructed front with a good deep, well ribbed body, pleasing quarters & angulation, in a good jacket, moved & showed well. CC, BOB & BP. I wasn’t surprised to hear that someone found her before me & this was her second CC; 2 Kenny’s Millingford Cloudberry, nicely balanced girl that is good for type, feminine head, pleasing neckline & good, deep body. Not quite the head or angulation of 1; 3 Thomson’s Ashgate Pennies From Heaven. JB (2) 1 Young’s Stuane Floral Dance, compact, typey brindle with feminine head, acceptable front, pleasing neckline & topline, good for body & bone, pleasing rear angulation, looked her best on the move in profile; 2 Dodds’ Glenboig Black Olive, generous with an acceptable head, good eye & neat ears, pleased in body, bone, quarters & angulation, but I would have preferred a firmer topline. Moved OK. PGB (1) 1 Maidment’s Berrybreeze Explorer, good for size & type, feminine head that could perhaps be a shade cleaner. Nicely constructed front, lovely neckline & topline, good deep body & bone, well developed with quarters but I would have preferred a little more rear angulation. Well presented in a good black jacket, moved well. LB (2) 1 Kenny’s Millingford Royal Affair, good for type, lovely clean head, good eye & neat ears, pleasing body & bone, nicely angulated rear, in a good jacket & looked her best on the move in profile; 2 Withdrew. OB (4) 1 Pagram’s Torcraig Black Pearl, typy black making a lovely balanced outline, feminine head but I would have prefer a shade stronger jaw. Pleasing eye & neat ears, lovely flow of neck into a good topline, good depth of body but I would have preferred a shade more spring of rib. Well developed quarters with pleasing rear angulation & neat hocks, superbly presented in a lovely jacket, showed & moved well. RCC; 2 Kelly’s Glenboig Lady Gaga at Carseview, close up & with many of the attributes of 1 but not quite with the same angulation & jacket. BARRY DAY |
