SCOTTISH JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 23

I really enjoyed judging for the above show I had a nice entry in Scottish Terriers with some quality, but unfortunately the Glens did not come out today for me. I thank my two stewards who had been at the ringside all day who did a stalwart job Jane Palmer and Sue Carter.

SPECIAL BEGINNER DOG (2)

1 Hughes’ Trimscott Idris Elba must be a lady after my own heart, such a well named masculine dog, groomed out but his solid Black harsh coat could be in better presentation. I liked this 2.5 year old dogs balanced long lean head, with good brows over large dark open eyes, slight stop, erect ears and strong muzzle with moustache and beard. Good neck to shoulders and a firm level short back and high set on well rooted tail. Good depth of chest well rounded and ribbed back body, short strong loin. Muscular hindquarters, stifle and let down hocks. Powerful sound mover on short well boned legs.

2 Nixons’ Tout Nouveau Tout Beau Du Clan Des Petits Colonels Karmaristol (IMP FRA) JW I have had the opportunity to judge this young dog on a few occasions and although he has matured and grown into a much more balanced dog I still find him too long in his back and needing his ribs further back so that he is not so long in his loin. Strong long balanced head, well set erect ears, well furnished brows over his dark eyes, nice moustache and beard. Strong neck to shoulders, firm back line and well set on tail. Well rounded body with substance, presented in a harsh brindle coat, well groomed and presented. Short well boned forelegs and strong well muscled hindquarters and well turned stifle and let down hocks. Moved out well, needs to settle behind.

1 Mccrackens’ Our Black Jack For Amawyn Although 8 years certainly does not look his age showing no signs of colour change in his stylish well groomed black coat. Good strength of skull with correct length to foreface, well set erect ears, slight stop, lovely dark alert eyes still retaining their colour, good brows over, big spongy nose nice beard and moustache. Moderate strong neck into his sloping shoulders, well angled front with good depth and width to his chest and brisket. Short back with a very firm topline to a good rump with well rooted erect tail. Body was well rounded perhaps a little too much, ribs well back. Short well boned legs and still retaining muscular hindquarters with well turned stifle and strong hocks. Moved out soundly.

1 Coleys’ Evingbriar Bandsman Bescott Lovely to see that the first two were brothers. I loved his head of correct shape, good skull with erect ears, slight stop, well set apart dark expressive eyes under good brows, good foreface with nice beard and moustache, good dentition. Preferred his neck length and strength well set into his sloping shoulders and firm short level back to a rounded rump with his well rooted and erect tail. Lovely well rounded and ribbed back body covered in a harsh black well groomed and presented jacket. Good depth of chest and brisket short well boned forelegs and rounded feet. Strong hindlegs with good stifle and short hocks, very sound mover once he settled into his stride.

2 Broomes’ Evingbriar War Of The Roses Similar in size and shape to his brother nice length of head, nice width of skull with neat erect ears. Dark expressive eyes under well presented brows, slight stop separates. Well furnished foreface nice black nose. Would like a little more neck length and muscle tone. Sloping shoulders and short firm level backline to well rounded rump needing more muscle tone, with nice tail set and carriage. Well ribbed back in a nicely rounded body covered in a solid harsh black coat, nicely groomed and presented. Strong short well boned fore legs with padded feet, a return of stifle and let down hocks. Moved out ok but lacked the sound rear action of his brother.

1 Duckhouses’ Amadeus Mozart was 4th in the Puppy dog class this 9 month old solid well presented black coated. For me he was too long and narrow in his fore face, but time will help him as he matures, was well furnished. Enough strength in his skull with correctly set apart neat erect ears. Well shaped dark eyes with good brows over, good dentition. Good neck length into sloping shoulders, rather too long in his back good rump and well set on tail. Body well rounded but ribs needed to be further back as he was long in loin. Strongly boned legs and tight feet, good return of stifle and hocks. Moved out well with nice action.

PGD (3)

1 Harrison-Browns’ Divadell Who’s The Man Just 2 year old with a lovely thick set outline and lovely stance working well with his handler. Lovely masculine long head, with strength to his flat skull with well set apart erect ears, nice stop, dark eyes set well apart covered with good brows, good for face with nice moustache and beard. Head held well on moderate well muscled neck into his sloping shoulders and short level back to his well rounded rump to his strongly rooted erect tail. Correct depth and width of chest and brisket to a lovely short well rounded and ribbed back body into a strong loin. Body well covered in a harsh dense double black coat nicely presented and trimmed. Short well boned fore legs and correct return of stifle and let down hocks, strong tight feet, stylish very sound mover with good powerful action. Best Dog BOB

1 Nortons’ Divadells’ Charging Bear very attractive 2 year old well constructed quality masculine thick set dog presented in a well groomed dark brindle close lying harsh coat over a well round and ribbed back short body. Lovely type to his masculine head, correct flat skull, well set apart fine erect ears. Nice stop with well set apart dark expressive eyes covered with good brows. Nice length of fore face well furnished nice black nose. Head well caried on clean moderate and muscled neck into his sloping shoulders, a firm short level back to a strong rounded rump with a nice well rooted erect tail. A well angled chest with depth and width, plus a good brisket to his lovely rounded body well ribbed back into a strong short loin with muscular hindquarters with good return stifle and strong hocks. Moved out soundly on short well boned legs and feet with free front action and drive from the rear. RBD

2 Ashworths’ Russaian Crimson Coburn For Naviba a slightly older boy 2.5 years old with a well shaped but much stronger head than my winner. Flat skull well set apart ears, enough stop, dark well set apart keen look to his eyes well covered brows. Strong fore face with nice beard and moustache, correct dentition and black nose. Head held on muscular neck needing more length, sloping shoulders into his back with slight rise to his well set erect tail. Well ribbed back body which was well rounded with enough weight. Nicely angulated front with depth to his chest and brisket, good hindquarters well muscled with return of stifle and strong hocks, and feet well padded. Very well coated with good double harsh coat well presented. Moved out well with a brisk action and sound both ends.

1 Barton-Smiths’ Russaian Rosenda RosE Presented and groomed well this very stylish this 2.5 year old as she stood looked very impressive and was nice to handle. 2 Mccrackens’ Carisco Myrtle Beach To Amawyn Just 14 months and giving a lot away in maturity but she was well developed for her age and similar in size and overall balance of my winner. Lovely long lean head with a flat skull and well set and used erect ears, slight stop and well placed almond shaped dark expressive eyes with nice eye brows. Good fore face well covered in moustache and beard. Head held well on a moderate neck set well into her sloping shoulders, a short back slightly uneven with a rise to her tail which is well set on. 1 Hughes’ Myrtle’s Melody Lovely size and overall balance to this 9 months old baby with a nice outline on the stance. Very feminine head with a good length just looked a little too lean and did feel narrow on handling her, I would hope as she matures that the strength will come. Well set on erect ears, slight stop, pretty look to her dark almond shaped eyes with nice brows, some furnishing to her muzzle. Correct neck length to sloping shoulders into her back being a little too long with a topline that rose to her tail. Good body having depth to her chest and brisket but needing ribs to be further back into her loin. Well presented solid black jacket of correct harsh texture. Nice short legs tight feet, moved out well with nice action.

2 Nortons’ Davidell’s Come Fly With Me I liked the stance and look of this bitch on the stack, on going over she was a little worried about me handling her head and teeth as she had been badly handled before, I forgave this as she allowed me to go over her. A beautiful furnished head of correct shape, nice erect ear nicely set, defined stop, and well set apart almond shaped dark eyes with nice brows over. Good neck length set into sloping shoulders, a short back with firm level topline to a well rooted tail. Super well presented coal black harsh coat over a good body with a well angled fore chest with depth, correct brisket and well ribbed back into a short strong loin. Muscular hindquarters, return of stifle and short hocks. A powerful free mover with good stride and sound.
