SCOTTISH BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 19 Judge: Mr Veli-Pekka Kumpumaki BEST OF BREED : 7353 CROSS, Ms R & HUBER, Mrs V & CROSS Ms D Ch Mcvan's Big Bopper At Beameups - CC SCOTTISH JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 19 So now it’s done! My first time awarding Challenge Certificates in the UK. It was a tremendous honour and I would like to say a big thank you to all of you for entering under me and for accepting my decisions so beautifully. I really enjoyed my time in Birmingham. To be honest, the overall quality was not high. I got quite upset in some of the classes. To be positive I found many dogs with deep and wide bodies, strong bones and a lot of substance. This made me believe in what I was taught to believe by my great mentors in this breed. A Scottish Terrier is not a Scottish Terrier without substance and volume and a deep ribcage. To be negative, I found some leggy ones, some narrow ones and some long ones. Also some were too heavy. The proportions are important. Many had a round eye which spoiled the expression. I found quite a few bad toplines and low tailsets. I think many of them were lacking in anatomy. My main winners were all of very high quality and I was very pleased with my choices. I saw some young ones with a lot of potential and promise. The temperaments were good and I got to witness some hilarious moments in the ring caused by these stubborn, very humoristic and charming terriers. There is no better breed than this! Thank you very much once again and the best of luck for the future! SBD (1) 1 Lockwood’s Trimscott Ernie Wise. Happy dog, a bit long in body, could be deeper, enough chest, long head with dark eyes, a little large in his ears, good bite, topline could be more level and he could carry his neck better on the move, tail could be higher set, needs better hind movement with more drive. Good coat quality. MPD (1) 1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Quintesential. A lovely masculine puppy with great attitude. Excellent strong bone. Excellent forechest and a deep ribcage. Long head with nice expression. Could have more stop. Slightly round in the eye. Well placed ears. Slightly soft in topline due to his age. Well set tail and plenty behind it. Moved very well.
