SCOTTISH BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 13 Judge(s): MRS SUSAN GASKELL Scottish Terriers Thanks to the exhibitors who entered & turned up for a midweek show. I consider movement is still a problem in the breed, especially hind movement which is close & lacks drive, profuse furnishings are not the answer! Another problem I see creeping in is eye shape, I found several with large round eyes, therefore losing the keen intelligent expression the Standard calls for. All the exhibits were in clean condition & mouths were good. PD 1 Hardy’s Magandthan Black Bronze, smart baby with a lot to like, good length of head, good mouth, short back, deep body, sound front & back. Although he stood alone he moved & showed well on a loose lead. When he gets a new coat should do very well, time is on his side. JD 1 Beckton’s Glengracie Formula One, attractive wheaten in good coat & condition, balanced head with good pigment, strong jaw, good mouth. Would prefer a better shaped eye. Muscular neck, short deep body, good tailset, pleasing outline. On his own & took time to settle, when he did moved well & showed freely without needing to be stacked. PGD 1 Miller’s Brio Oliver Twist, masculine brindle in top form, excels in head which is clean & well balanced, correct eye & expression, good mouth, excellent neck & shoulder, level topline, good tailset, straight well boned front, deep brisket, good angulation. Moves soundly front, back & side view, with a smooth long stride. Good coat texture. CC. OD 1 Hovagimyan’s Multi Ch Tamzin Mr Prospector, correct type black in excellent coat & condition, good length of head, strong muzzle, good mouth, muscular neck into short deep body, good front, deep brisket, well boned legs, level topline, moved & showed steadily, handled to advantage. RCC; 2 Earl’s Rolanka Bucks Fizz, attractive wheaten in great form, good length head, strong foreface. Would prefer better shaped eye. Level topline, good tailset, very good coat & condition. Not quite so pleasing in front assembly. Has great ring presence & shows naturally without needing to be stacked, which is good to see. PB 1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze I Love To Boogie, black baby in very good coat & condition, long head, good dentation, well placed ears which she uses to advantage, good neck, level topline, good tailset. Needs time to develop in body. Happy show girl. BP. JB 1 Rowland & Rees’ Dottys Little Girl at Rabbonai, promising brindle of correct type who handles well, pleasing head & expression, good neck & shoulder, compact deep body, adequate bone, good width in front, correct coat texture, moved & showed steadily; 2 Shadbolt’s Akura Starbux, attractive wheaten that I have admired from the ringside. Feminine, balanced head, correct mouth, good neck, level topline, good tailset, very good coat & condition, moved & showed steadily. Two nice bitches; 3 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Born To Boogie. PGB 1 Dauncey’s Magsonbay Callander Girl at Glenmiar, up to size black of correct type, balanced head, strong foreface, good dentition, sound front with deep brisket. Big ribs, which do not need quite so much body as she had today! Well made quarters, when she settled moved & showed steadily; 2 Kirk’s Whitwitch Twigglet, feminine black in good form, balanced head with pleasing outlook. Lacked a little in bone & depth in front. Good coat texture, but appeared to run up on the move. Moved & showed steadily. LB 1 Maidment’s Berrybreeze Explorer at Daxidin, smart black of correct type, pleasing balanced head, & eye & expression, compact well developed body, ideal size, good front & sound quarters, excellent coat & condition, showed & moved steadily, handled to advantage by her young handler; 2 Dauncey’s Glenmiar Black Sapphire, sizable black who handles well, balanced head, strong foreface, good bone with plenty of substance. Not as compact as 1. Good coat texture. Quite a handful on the move, but did enough to earn her placing. OB 1 Kenny’s Millingford Cloudberry, feminine black in top form, not a big one but very well balanced. Quality head, correct eye & expression, used her ears well, compact deep body, good front & quarters, level topline & well set tail, good coat & condition. Her free & easy movement is true from any angle. CC, BOB; 2 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Glad All Over, pleasing black in excellent coat & condition, long balanced head, used her ears well, pleasing body properties, level topline, good tailset. Not quite as positive in movement as 1. Showed well, handled to advantage. RCC. VB 1 Hovagimyan’s Multi Ch Verascott Ask For The Moon, mature bitch in good form, good length of head, strong foreface, good bite, muscular neck, deep body, level topline, showed steadily, well handled.
