SCOTTISH JUDGE BELFAST 12

Scottish Terriers

I was delighted to find that in these trying times exhibitors had travelled from far & near to give the breed a record entry at this show. My ring was large, well lit & had a good ringside presence throughout judging.

Overall my opinion on the breed since last I judged are front construction needs to be given more thought & because of this movement remains not as good as it should be. Too many exhibits have low set ears taking away from some really grand clean heads & in some cases presentation needs to be improved.

PD

1 Beckton’s Glengracie Formula One, well balanced head, neat ears, ultra low, good spring of rib, should coupled, level topline, tail well set on good rear muscle & good turn of hock. 7½ months & needs time to mature as movement was difficult to assess as is with most puppies of this age. One for the future. Well presented;

2 Meek’s Benartybraes Morcarena, many of the qualities of 1. More on the leg & not as short coupled. Well presented & handled.

JD

1 Rutherford’s Carisco Midas Touch, good head, well balanced overall, low to ground, short coupled, tail on top, well muscled rear, good turn of hock, in great coat, presented & shown very well which shows the movement this exhibit possesses. RCC;

2 Annan’s Copper Coin, preferred spring of rib of 1. Not as short coupled & coat not at its best. Moved well , shown & presented very well;

3 Mills’ Mullachbui Thiudoricus of Blackthorpe.

PGD (0).

LD

1 Rutherford’s Carisco My Leading Man, well balanced, clean head, well placed ears, good layback of shoulder, good spring of rib, short coupled, tail on top, good muscled rear, good turn of hock, moved well with drive both ways, presented well. CC.

OD

1 Coley’s Kingsview Just Stewart, balanced head, good layback of shoulder, nice level topline, tail well set, good rearend, moved with drive, handled & presented very well;

2 Ir/Int Ch Slievecroob William, balanced head, level topline, moved well. Presentation could have been better with a little more attention to detail;

3 Wright’s Ir Ch Slievecroob True Tartin.

PB (0).

JB

1 Wright’s Mullachbui Adorabella, balanced head, nice balanced body properties, level topline, tail on top, nice rear, moved well & nicely presented;

2 Hill’s Samstevever Kellimay, nicely balanced throughout but did not have the move & drive of 1.

PGB

1 Thompson’s Ashgate Pennies From Heaven, very nice balanced bitch, nice head, good front, low slung, good level topline, tail on top, good back end, well presented, moved with drive;

2 Ford’s Killisport Mary Ann of Dojanfor, preferred front of 1 & attention to presentation could well improve the visual image.

LB

1 Annan’s Lomondview Catalina, very well balanced all through, nice head, good run in, nice front, good spring of rib, short coupled, tail on top, great rear muscle & turn of hock, moved & presented very well;

2 Mills’ Blackthorpe Bianca, preferred front of 1 but well presented & shown.

OB

1 Plane’s Ch Stuane Florette, lovely well balanced throughout, beautiful balanced head, neat ear placement, very clean set off with beautiful almond shaped dark eye, correct front, great run in, wonderful spring of rib, short coupled, tail on top, great rear muscle & turn of hock. Coat in super condition, moved with great drive & freely. CC, BOB & G2;

2 Kelly’s Ch Glenboig Lady Ga Ga at Carseview, was unfortunate to be up against 1. All the qualities of a first class bitch, great head, well balanced, super movement, presented to perfection. RCC;

3 Aiken’s Ir Ch Slievecroob Scotch Heather.
