PARSON JUDGE SKC 09

Parson Russell Terriers

A numerically strong entry, the fourth largest in the terrier group. Please do not be offended by my comments which are intended to be constructive. I felt that some exhibits would have benefited from roadwork, there were quite a few weak feet & several dogs lacked muscletone, weak quarters were in evidence & while this breed should not be over angulated some lacked sufficient turn of stifle & second thigh. I am glad to say that a larger percentage of exhibits had the correct return of upper arm than the last time I judged the breed. This breed should not be over presented but some coats were in need of tidying & others lacked undercoat.

PD (8,1a)

1 Farrow’s Gelnholm Happy Go Lucky, handy size & good to span, dark tri head with good eye & expression, correct reach of neck with good lay of shoulder & correct return of upper arm, good topline & tailset, super coat & presented in lovely condition. Would just prefer a tad more sweep of stifle. BP;

2 Baker’s Pacolito Bespoke, nice type with good strong dark tri head carried on good neck, correct angles, good coat. Just a little heavier built than 1;

3 March’s Homstar Fergus.

JD (4,1)

1 Liddell’s Alncroft Arctik, raw young dog with a lot to learn, good head with a nice eye, correct coat, lay of shoulder & overall balance although tailset a little high. Still needing to strengthen behind;

2 Cutler & Hughes’ Trumpmoor Exmoor Jimny, not wearing his best coat, good head, reach of neck & lay of shoulder, little straight behind;

3 Davies & Frost-Copping’s Goldfern Grand Lad.

PGD (2)

1 Sollis’ Mister Bonamonty, super for size & to span, good head, eye & reach of neck, correct front assembly, good overall balance, tailset & quarters, moved well. RCC;

2 Marshall’s I’m On Fire, he certainly was, very sharp dog with untypical head showing too much cheek, good reach of neck & lay of shoulder, OK to span, rather lacking undercoat, well muscled.

LD (4)

1 Baker’s Giftrapped Of Lovealoch to Pacolito, good for size & to span, old west country type of headset, on correct neck which flowed into well laid shoulder with good return of upper arm, good overall balance with correct turn of stifle & second thigh, moved out well with plenty of drive. CC;

2 Pell’s Olliebark Star Performer, another good to span & correct size, close up to 1 & similar remarks apply. Just a shame he was not wearing his best coat;

3 Newport’s Digaden Chase The ace.

OD (2)

1 Johnson’s Garsayno Astronemer, nice type, good for size, span & coat, correct front assembly & height to length ratio, strong quarters with correct turn of stifle, moved well;

2 Roberts & Todd’s Mindlen Rabbit, strong head with good eye. Just not quite so much my type as 1.

PB (8,2

) 1 Newport’s Digaden Glamouruss, very dark tri with strong head, good size & to span, correct neck with good front, bone & feet, strong quarters for a baby with good tailset, thick harsh coat, moved well;

2 Rimmer’s Kylini Spellsabound, another promising puppy of correct size, very pretty but a little lacking in foreface. Good overall balance with correct angles, moved well when settled;

3 Samways’ Cassacre Red Duster.

JB (2,1)

1 Frost-Copping’s Goldfern Glory, good size & to span although I would like a bit more condition. Head spoiled by ears needing to settle, good overall balance, correct shoulder & upper arm, quarters, thigh & second thigh with correctly set hocks.

PGB (7)

This was the best class of the day & the winners could easily change places another day.

1 Bigland’s Heythrop Tiadrop, lovely type of bitch, good for size & to span, super head, neck & lay of shoulder, good for coat & pelt, correct bone & height to length ratio, strong well muscled quarters which she used to her advantage on the move. CC & BOB;

2 Doyle’s Ilexquercus Rosy Rustic, very similar type of bitch who was most unfortunate to meet 1. I was splitting hairs to decide between them & similar remarks apply. RCC;

3 Baker’s Pacolito Phortune Monkey.

LB (6,2)

1 Swift & Parr’s Pacolito Picture Monkey, smart bitch of correct size & balance, good to span, lovely head, earset & eye, good reach of neck & lay of shoulder, correct body, bone & quarters, moved well;

2 Steel’s Garsayno The Dancer, more of a west country head than 1, still with good eye & expression, reach of neck & lay of shoulders, correct balance with good thigh & second thigh. Just a little taller than 1;

3 Doyle’s Mindlen Moth of Ilexquercus.

OB (5)

1 Baker’s Pacolito X Rated, good size & overall balance & span, good head set well on correct neck with good shoulder & upper arm, correct bone & quarters with good thigh & second thigh, moved well;

2 Johnson’s Ch Garsayno Tuti Fruiti, thought she was my winner when she entered the ring but unfortunately a little loaded in muscle over her upper arm which spoils the overall picture, super type of bitch with good head, correct size & good to span, nice balance, lay of shoulder & quarters, moved well;

3 Rimmer’s Kylini Mythnmyst.
