PARSON RUSSELL JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 22

I would like to thank the committee for asking me to judge at this prestigious show. Everyone was welcoming and extremely helpful, also thank you once again to the stewards who kept everything running smoothly. Thank you also to the exhibitors for coming. It was a pleasure to see you all. I think everyone had a good day, and placings were accepted with good grace and sportsmanship, which created a good atmosphere around the ring. Dogs were well presented, and all seemed in a jovial mood. It was pleasing to see that the correct breed type was consistent throughout the classes, another plus point was the movement which overall was excellent throughout, although there was still a tendency for some handlers to walk the dogs on a tight lead which can restrict the front movement. I was more than pleased with my dog and bitch line-ups and enjoyed my judging immensely.

Sp Beg D/B (4)

1 Casson’s Mindlen Hendricks. Ideal size dog of good proportions, correct wedge shaped head, large teeth and correct bite. Straight front, correct rib, harsh double coat with a loose pelt. Moved out soundly.

2 Woods & Boorman’s Vixenview Talia Shire. Another good looking youngster, again ideal size, wedge shaped head. Nice rise over loin, correct coat and pelt, again moved out soundly.

3 Anderson’s Drailam Foxglove.

MPD (1)

1 Duke’s Rushden Ghostbuster. Another dog of ideal size. Strong head, punishing muzzle, large teeth. Well muscled and presented the correct Parson outline. Still very much a puppy and thus a little loose when moving.

PD (2)

1 Hobson’s Partridgdale Flynn. Super pup, ideal size. Lovely head, straight front, correct angulation throughout. Rise over loin. Presented and shown well and moved smoothly around ring. The future of the breed is assured if these youngsters are anything to go by, what a start to the day!

2 Casson’s Mindlen Hendricks.

GD (2, 1)

1 Pell’s Hoolmark Ringo Starr At Olliebark. Stood alone but caught my eye from the moment I looked up from previous class. What a lovely dog! Super breed type. Ideal size and shape, strong wedge-shaped head, kind eye. Outgoing temperament. Easily spanned, good reach of neck, correct rib. Good angulation front and back. Moved out soundly. DCC, BOS.

LD (5, 2)

1 Hall’s Frithgarth Master The World. At the larger end of the size scale but still spannable, wouldn’t want him any bigger. Moved ever so well. Large head, kind eye. Good ear carriage. Harsh double coat, loose pelt.

2 Hobson’s Partridgdale Little Rock. Lighter frame than first. Another good head. Good angulation, correct shape and showed well. Currently between coats so felt a little soft.

3 Smith’s Chadbrook Havoc.

OD (6, 1)

1 Smith, Smith & Smith’s Ch Heythrop Task Master For Alncroft. Well presented dog of good breed type. Strong head, large teeth. Nice topline, straight front, well angulated. Harsh double coat and moved out well. Another good example of the breed. RDCC.

2 Broadberry’s Ch Mindlen Magnum At Ratscallion. Another good ’un! Strong head, kind eye. Straight front, correct rib, rise over loin. Harsh double coat and loose pelt. Moved freely.

3 McCluskey’s Chadbrook Sunfire.

VD (1)

1 Broadberry’s Ch Foxthorn Huron At Ratscallion. A previous best of breed winner of mine, still gorgeous. Strong wedge shaped head, good angulation, harsh double coat, loose pelt. Presented the ideal parson outline. Unfortunately, today he was a bit giddy on the move. BV.

MPB (1)

1 Bigland’s Heythrop Taranna. Super pup. Very feminine head, kind eye, good ear carriage, strong muzzle. nice reach of neck, correct angulation front and back, correct rib. Good double coat and loose pelt, movement still a little puppyish. This is one to watch, liked her very much. BP.

PB (2)

1 Young’s Chadbrook Little Target. Another of correct type, ideal size and shape. Strong head, large teeth. Harsh double coat and loose pelt. Moved out ever so well, it was unfortunate she came up against the minor pup today. Another I would gladly take home with me.

2 Hobson’s Partridgdale de Havilland. Lighter frame than first. Smooth coated, good size and feminine, nice head. Unfortunately, ears were flying. Correct rib, good angulation and moved well.

JB (8, 2)

1 Hughes’ Ruffntuff Rush Of Love. I really liked this bitch, pushed the best bitch very hard. Oozes breed type. Super wedge shaped head, kind eye, strong throughout. Presented correct Parson outline, correct angulation front and back. Cracking coat and pelt. Moved straight and true. RBCC.

2 Mitchell’s Tegtaran Jumbley Juno. Much of above applies again. Good head, nice large teeth. Good angulation. Nice harsh double coat, and again another dog moving well. Just lacked the ring presence of first.

3 Young’s Chadbrook Affirmation.

GB (2)

1 Duke’s Ultra Thundertale At Rushden TAF (Imp). Close contest between these two. Ideal size, lovely wedge shaped feminine head, kind eye. Good length of neck, correct rib, good angulation. Presented a better Parson outline than second. Moved well.

2 Bigland’s Heythrop Topseyturvey. Strong head. Straight front, correct rib, rise over loin. Harsh double coat with a loose pelt. Longer in back than first. Moved out soundly.

PGB (7, 1)

1 Bigland’s Heythrop Tangletop. Good wedge shaped head, large teeth. Straight front, correct rib, good angulation. Harsh double coat, loose pelt, rise over loin and again another sound mover around the ring.

2 Neild & Smith’s Logierait Luna Jw. Liked this bitch. Strong head, good reach of neck, nice topline with rise over loin. Good angulation throughout. Moved well when she settled.

3 Kirby & Kirby’s Mindlen Miami.

LB (5, 1)

1 Roberts & Murray’s Mindlen Mic Mac At Heythrop. This bitch reminded me of the Parsons that were seen in the ring when I first started showing. Superb breed type. Classic wedge shaped head, kind eye. Ideal size, easily spannable, good reach of neck, correct rib, correct angulation, good topline with rise over loin. Had real presence in the lineup, couldn’t take my eyes off her. BCC and BOB.

2 Kirkby & Kirkby’s Pacolito Recent Rumour. Slightly heavier frame than first. Strong head. Spannable, good double coat, loose pelt. Had a nice parson profile and yet again, another sound mover.

3 Young’s Chadbrook Enhance The Dance.

OB (6)

1 Roberts & Murray’s Ch Mindlen Moccasin. This was a very strong class. I liked this bitch very much. Ideal size, lovely head, nice topline with rise over loin. Good angulation. Harsh double coat and loose pelt. As was the norm today, another great mover.

2 Dayman & Cole’s Ch Pacolito Phinal Edition. Another solid example of the breed. Strong head. Straight front, good angulation. Harsh double coat, loose pelt. Not quite the topline of first, again moved extremely well.

3 McCluskey’s Chadbrook Elka.

VB (3)

1 Neild & Smith’s Logierait Little Lotte Vw. Another dog I have placed in the past, still looking spritely and enjoying showing. Strong head, large teeth. Straight front, good angulation. Correct rib, good topline with rise over loin and again moved out soundly.

2 Collis’ Riplington Dream Image. Nice dog, lighter in frame to first. Good head, correct angulation, good double coat, loose pelt. Moved well. it was lovely to see all 3 veterans today, they all did their owners proud.

3 Kannagara’s Sherosco Christmas Rose.
