PARSON RUSSELL LEEDS 09 Judge: Mr Harold Gay PARSON RUSSELL JUDGE LEEDS 09 Parson Russell Terriers I was pleased with my winners but found the day a little challenging at times. The consistency of type that seemed to be developing appears to have got a bit lost here & there &, for the first time, if the entry had not been large I may have been tempted to withhold in some classes. Size has in general crept up with bitches often being bigger than the dogs & while none were so big that they could not do the job at all they would certainly struggle in some parts of the country. The classic heads the elegance of a well made, well balanced (not short coupled) working dog was difficult to find at times. Coats on the whole were good & it was nice to have rough, broken & smooth presented under me with a full compliment of colours & non excessively body marked. Fronts were very straight with only an odd turned out foot here & there & the overall impression of the entire entries bodyline was narrow. Temperaments were generally excellent, tails even still wagged during a quick shower of rain. PD 1 Bygate’s Windynook Init To Winit, beautiful head with classic proportions, good ear, nice front, easily spans, very nice outline standing, moves with excellent balance for a youngster. BP; 2 Newport’s Digaden Adventuruss, slighty bigger dog, good head & eye. Run in of neck to shoulder currently a little overdone. Good angulation & movement; 3 Sutton’s Pacolito Persona at Springbeck. JD 1 Hooley’s Hoolmark Ready To Rock, straight front, narrow, spannable, stands well, moved with drive, nice head with good ear & eye. Just out of puppy & while still a bit raw & rangy could easily become a quality dog; 2 Robert’s Stars & Stripes, nice head, ear & eye, level backline, good rear angulation. A little loose in front on the move. Stands well; 3 Liddell’s Alncroft Arctik. PGD A. LD 1 Pell’s Olliebark Star Performer, dog of nice shape & size, head maybe a little fine but set on a moderate neck running into good backline. A little a straight behind but moved with drive; 2 Hall’s Frithgarth Jack Frost, bigger dog, good head, nice earset, a little deep in chest. Good angulation, looked a picture standing but his movement did not match; 3 Doyle’s Alne Master Piece of Ilexquercus. OD 1 Baker’s Giftrapped of Lovealoch to Pacolito, excellent shape & size, not a classic head but certainly good enough, hard muscle & excellent angulation gave him good drive behind, moved in balance. CC; 2 Bygate’s Windynook Jeckyl Or Hide, stands well, keen expression, good reach of neck, good head & eye. Just did not get it together on the move. RCC; 3 Johnson’s Garsayno Astronomer. PB 1 Rimmer’s Kylini Spellsabound, caught the eye in a large class, very nice bitch head, keen expression, easily spannable, stands balanced & retains this on the move. Made a very nice pair with the puppy dog but just preferred his movement; 2 Baker’s Pacolito Phlattery, finer in head than 1 but she has time. Good backline, nice rib. Rear legs still need to get it together; 3 Bygate’s Windynook Rhythm Is A Dancer. JB 1 Chen’s Pacolito Phaithfull, liked the shape & size, nice head, eye & expression, good rear angulation, nice backline if just a little long. Sound in movement; 2 Copping’s Heythrop Tri for Rutaaro, head not quite as good as 1, ears nicely carried, shape size & outline sound. Lacked a little in confidence on the move; 3 Frost-Copping’s Goldfern Glory. PGB 1 Bigland’s Heythrop Tandy, small but beautifully formed bitch, strong head, easily spanned, excellent muscle behind, moved with good rear drive but slightly restricted in front reach; 2 Marshall’s Kirkby Sunrise, stands well, good rear angulation, straight front, moved well with balance; 3 Hooley’s Mindlen Blue Bottle at Hoolmark. LB 1 Rimmer’s Kylini Mythnmyst, keen eye & expression, nice ears, stands well with good shape & balance, nice mover. RCC; 2 Newport’s Pacolito Xpectations, slightly thicker set strong bitch with strong head, good earset, sound in movement with strong drive from a well muscled rear; 3 Baker’s Pacolito Picture Image. OB 1 Baker’s Pacolito Phirstclass, first impression sees nice outline with good rear & this is certainly enforced when moving around the ring. Towards the big end of the scale but her movement set her apart. Very alert bitch which only emphasises her keen expression & ears. Back in 2007 my critique of her said ‘at the moment a definite prospect’ so two years later it was a pleasure to award her the CC, her 3rd, & BOB; 2 Newport’s Pacolito Premiere, in proportion maybe a little short in the leg but stood well. Good rib, nice set on of tail, moved with drive behind; 3 Johnson’s Ch Garsayno Tutti Frutti. Breeders 1 Baker’s Pacolito. HAROLD GAY |
