PARSON RUSSELL DARLINGTON 15 Judge: Mr N Merrick BEST OF BREED : 1137 PRICE Mr R G Andralok Faith PARSON RUSSELL JUDGE DARLINGTON 15 Parson Russell Terriers I would like to express my gratitude to the exhibitors who gave up their time to let me assess their stock, thank you to the society for giving me this, my first set of CCs, & my lovely ring stewards who made my time in the ring easy. I had a fantastic entry with some excellent specimens to assess. It is however of my opinion that the dogs are of a poorer quality than the bitches. Hopefully with the standard of stock bitches coming through this can be addressed. I had very little to moan about for the mouths other than a few dirty mouths & broken teeth. There were a few battle scars which make this breed what it is. VD 1 Hall’s Frithgarth Jack Frost, an old boy who has a nice expression, correct eye, correct mouth & with a good pelt. A little heavy in his latter years but moved OK. MPD 1 Rimmer’s Maanmanion Doubleshot over Kylini, a lovely standard puppy of type. Correct wedge of head with well set dark eye of the correct shape. Good neck length & straight front with good feet & strong pasterns, shoulder well laid back. Correct rise over loin & good rear angulation. Good for pelt & easily spanned; 2 Minett’s Pacolito Second Edition to Rountfelley, another standard young dog with a lot of positive attributes of 1. A keen expression typical of a working terrier. Head & eye are all correct so to the rear angulation, this puppy also had a good pelt & top coat. The young boy moved OK from the rear but not so well in the front, I preferred the front make up of my first placed dog. PD 1 Baker’s Pacolito Special Edition, a stunner. I loved him as soon as he came into the ring. Only a young dog but what a future he has. Strong well shaped head with good ear shape & carriage, dark almond shaped eye correctly set into his skull giving that “I can work” look. Great dentition, correct front, well for bone & good length of neck. Well laid shoulders with a slight rise over the loin. Rib well placed & of the right length as to give him the correct length in body. Rear angulation also good. Good thick pelt & correct top coat, spanned easily moved well. A pleasure to award him the RCC; 2 Smith’s Digaden Top Hat And Tails, a bit bigger in size than 1. Still a nice quality type with soundness running throughout. Good head shape & correct mouth straight front & good shoulder lay. Spanned OK & pelt is good. Moved OK. JD 1 Broadberry’s Foxthorn Huron at Ratscallion, a strong boy this one. Good wedge shaped head with nice almond eye. Correct dentition. Ear carriage correct & good reach of neck. Front straight & feet of the correct shape & set. Good rib length & correct rise over loin. Rear angulation is good & he moved better once he settled down. Spanned OK & with good pelt; 2 Young’s Chadbrook Trooper, a reasonable dog with good shape head, good mouth, Front OK, a little too much rib for me. Moved OK. PGD 1 Towler’s Mindlen McKenna at Ansabak, a dog of standard height & weight, correct head & mouth, eye shape & set OK. Spanned with ease good for coat & pelt. Moved very well; 2 Tullis’ Mindlen Rascal, a heavy set dog who would not settle, head good, eye good, correct mouth, straight in front, a little stuffy in neck for me. Moved OK. LD The quality in this class for me was quite poor this class is one for me where the quality younger dog is to be found but I was disappointed. Nothing in this class stood out for me. 1 Smith’s Tubize Mr Sizzle, a standard dog with a reasonable head shape, correct ear & eye shape & set. Correct mouth, good length of neck, good pelt & coat Moved OK; 2 McCluskey’s Chadbrook Rocket, a reasonable dog with a good head shape, Eye shape & correct dentition. Another dog a bit stuffy in the neck for me. Moved OK. OD 1 Price’s Ch Rymshott Samo at Andralock, this is a dog I judged as a puppy & wow, isn’t he grown up! A dog of supreme quality, a dog with no exaggerations, correct head & earset, a sound specimen of workmanlike attitude, spanned with ease & no doubt if needed he would go to ground. Correct almond shape eye giving the desired expression, great dentition, straight front, well laid back shoulder, good pelt & coat, correct tailset, moved well, I was taken back by his ring presence & he was by far the best adult dog here today. My CC winner; 2 Newport’s Sweetjumpers Gentle Twister, a dog of reasonable quality with good head shape, correct ear & nice dark almond eye, correct mouth, good for body length but deeper in brisket than my class winner although spanned OK. Good pelt. Moved OK in rear but toed in from the front. VB 1 Newport’s Pacolito Xceptional, an old lady that put a smile on my face. Correct feminine head with correct scissor bite. Good length of neck & shoulder well laid back. Good coat & moved OK for her years. MPB 1 Baker’s Rountfelley Bealongs to Pacolito, a lovely baby this one, correct in head with correct ear shape & set, nice shape & set of eye giving a feminine expression. Good length of neck & all the makings of a well proportioned bitch. Moved well for a baby; 2 Newport’s Digaden Made To Measure, another pup of good quality with similar attributes to 1. A correct shape head & keen expression good mouth & good length of neck. Made well, moved well. PB 1 Baker’s Pacolito American Edition, a classy young lady whom I liked a lot. Lovely keen expression from a youngster with a nice feminine well shaped skull. Correct ears & eye & good dentition. Straight front with feet turning neither in nor out. Correct body length to height with a good pelt. Spanned easily. Moved OK; 2 D Made To Measure. JB 1 Broadberry’s Alncroft In Tune at Ratscallion, a lovely puppy this one. Correct head shape not overdone with good ear placement & nice almond eye shape. Good dentition, correct front & good height to weight & length. Good pelt with a good all weather coat, spanned easily. Moved well for a young one; 2 Storey’s Pacolito Rumour Has It, another nice bitch correctly made with that all important workmanlike look whilst remaining feminine. Correct head & eye, ear & mouth, well laid back in the shoulder & straight front, good overall body although deeper set in rib than 1, moved OK. PGB 1 Rimmer’s Kylini Mona Lisa, another stunner for me. Big standard bitch with correct head shape, tidy well placed ears & good shaped eye giving a keen expression. Dentition is excellent. Straight front & well for bone. Easily spanned with a good pelt. Body length to height is good & she moved well, a good sign she’s made well. A pleasure to award her the RCC; 2 Newport’s Digaden Taylor Made, a standard bitch with a good shape of skull, eye shape is good & so too the scissor bite. A good reach of neck & straight front. Good body height to withers & of the right length, moved with drive. LB 1 Price’s Andralok Faith, I couldn’t have asked for more, what a stunner. As soon as she came into the ring she had me. Standard on the money took my breath away. From her keen expression to the fire in her belly. Made well in the head but feminine. Great dentition, eyes & ears well placed & well set. Straight front, shoulders well laid back. Correct pelt & good coat. Spanned easily, well made rearquarters, once settled movement was good, albeit she fancied her chances with the Bull Terriers in the next ring. A pleasure to go over. CC, BOB; 2 Minett’s Rountfelley Beajewelled, a standard type bitch good in head with a good eye shape, mouth OK, spanned OK. Pelt OK. Moved with drive. OB This was the best class of the day for competition & the decisions made were down to my interpretation of the breed Standard & how I perceived the finished specimens laid down before me. As one says we can but judge the specimens entered in front of us! So thank you for the letter but I will make the decisions on the day! 1 Hooley’s Hoolmark Belle Star, a top sized bitch of great quality, correct head & well set ears, piercing almond shape eyes, excellent dentition with a strong underjaw. Straight front & correct feet. Well laidback shoulders & good length of neck. Correct body length & well angulated rear. A good pelted bitch that spanned OK. Moved like a dream & was like iron to the touch, showing this bitch has ample work. A credit to the owner; 2 Smith & Moon’s Ch Alncroft I Spy, this bitch made my decision for this class a hard one, no doubt a worthy Ch, she is made very well, has a keen expression & pushed my first place until I was nitpicking. The bitch has a classy head with ears well set & stunning almond shaped eyes. Straight front & easily spanned, loved her. Moved OK. N MERRICK |
