PARSON JACK RUSSELL JUDGE DARLINGTON 10

Parson Russell Terriers

On the whole I was very pleased with the quality of exhibits, most of which were of uniformity in type & traditional old type working terriers. However, we must remember this is a working breed & feet are very important. Some exhibits had flat & open feet. It should also be remembered that Russells should have straight & true movement, both coming & going. Some exhibits displayed high stepping & slightly erratic movement.

VD

1 Brown & Grange’s Ch Afinlea Roadside Skipper, sound 8 year old, good coat, correct wedge shaped head, correct bite, moved & handled well.

MPD

1 Vaughan’s Parruss Comanch Chief, lovely 8 months tri, eyecatching profile, correct head shape, nice eye, keen alert expression, good mouth, nice tight feet, easily spanned, moved & handled very well. This youngster has lots of quality & is one to watch for the future. BP;

2 Copping’s Pagantail Plato at Rutaaro, immature 6½ months, correct head, good mouth. Not quite so positive in hind movement as 1.

PD

1 Pell’s Cassacre Sea Urchin at Olliebark, 11 months, well presented, correct head shape, good mouth, coat & feet. Still needs to settle but handler did well;

2 Small’s Bethane Kalamazoo, nearly 1 year, attractive smooth, excellent working jacket, lovely mouth, strong teeth. Needs to settle on the move;

3 Samway’s Cassacre Tack.

JD

1 Hooley’s Hoolmark Johnny Ringo, very smart tri, correct head shape, good mouth, correct jacket, tight feet, moved OK, handled well;

2 Johnson’s Garsayno Magic Man, very pleasing youngster, good head, correct mouth. Although in full coat had a good working jacket. Moved out well & pushed for 1st place, could change places another day;

3 Hall’s Firthgarth Mighty Gandalf.

PGD

1 Davies & Frost-Copping’s Goldfern Grand Lad, strong dog, in good coat, pleasing head, good mouth & moved well despite being difficult to span.

LD (0).

OD

1 Coelho & Philps’ Port Ch Gambler Da Rosiera Brava, tri, lovely head, eye & correct ear, good straight front, good reach of neck, spannable ribs, correct length of back, nicely angulated at both ends, strong hindquarters, rough coated but with correct jacket, good double coat & thick pelt, presented exceptionally well & handled to perfection, an extremely relaxed dog to go over. BOB:

2 Denby Gardner’s Ammanday Augry, correct head shape, correct mouth, easily spanned. Unfortunately was a little bit out of coat. Pushed hard for first place. RCC;

3 Solli’s Ch Mister Bonamonty.

VB

1 Pell’s Starlight Express at Olliebark, pleasing 10 years tri, pleasing head, keen expression, good mouth, lovely feet, moved with drive & appeared to enjoy her day out. BV;

MPB (0).

3 Bull & Stark’s Clauval Japonica Lady.

OB

1 Bull & Stark’s Tarara Boom De Ay, traditional tri, correct head shape, lovely dark eyes & kind expression, good height to length ratio, correct weatherproof working jacket, good pelt & nice tight feet, not over exaggerated in any way but very workmanlike & shown to the best of her advantage. CC;

2 Vaughan’s Ch Parruss Star Spangled, lovely tri, quality bitch, very attractive in profile, pleasing head, nice front, lovely reach of neck, good shoulder, ribs carried well back, well angulated which shows in her sound ground covering gait, good coat & pelt. It was a very close call.
