PARSON JACK RUSSELL JUDGE CRUFTS 10

Parson Russell Terriers
A large, varied & generally pleasing entry gave me plenty to concentrate on. I was looking for a 14/14 terrier who would cover the ground on the move, with good head proportions, correct coat & able to do the job that they were bred for.
I found some exhibits with stilted & high short stepping movement & some narrow skulls & unbalanced heads.
However, there was plenty of quality on display & I was most pleased with my main winners & BP.

VD (5,1a)

1 Brown & Granges’ Ch Afinlea Road Side Skipper, nice sort, good wedge, strong jaw, good dentition, balanced all through, strong back & rearend, covered the ground well;

2 Doyle’s Alne Master Piece of Ilexquercus, all of a piece, dark Eye, pleased in neck & shoulder, strong loin, neat feet, held good topline on the move;

3 Roberts, Sacco & Murray’s Ch/Am Ch Mindlen Muddler Minnow, completed a quality trio of veterans. Being picky, I preferred the head shape of 1 & 2 but pleased in overall shape & balance with well placed ears, clean neck & good set-on.

PD (6,1)

1 Hooley’s Hoolmark Johnny Ringo, scored in head, eye, muzzle & neck, strong dentition, balanced in body & on the move, well ribbed up, firm loin, cracking rearend, looked the part & put in a good round with plenty of drive. BP;

2 Swift & Parr’s Spellbert Captain Jack, pushed 1 hard with his nice lines, clean neck & good head proportions. Spanned OK, well muscled up & once settled moved well fore & aft;

3 Steel & Johnson’s Gorsayno Yum Yum, not quite the hind movement of 1 & 2. Good wedge, dark eye & dentition OK, front legs carried well under the body & well ribbed up.

JD (6,2)

1 Griffiths’ Digaden Windrush Chase, sharp, workmanlike & scored in head, good wedge, correct stop & strong jaw, straight front, just enough bone, clean neck & good set-on, moved out well;

2 Li’s Heytogo of Lovealoch, bigger sort but all of a piece. Pleased in head & neck, good harsh coat & strong in body, carried his tail well over on the move but showed free striding ground covering action;

3 Ward & Selby’s Jacksden Spot on, masculine head, dark eye, keen expression, well carried ears & topline OK, well muscled up, moved adequately once settled.

YD (12,1)

1 Baker’s Pacolito Bespoke, well made, nice for size with plenty of character, masculine head, well placed & carried ears, strong neck, good topline, moved out with style;

2 Liddell’s Alncroft Arctik, pushed hard for top spot, plenty to like, balanced head, clean neck & nice lines, spanned OK with strength in back & hindquarters, moved well once settled;

3 Sutton’s Pacolito Persona at Springbeck, not quite the spark & substance of 1 & 2 but pleased in head, neck & set-on, drove well from strong hindquarters.

PGD (10,1)

1 Davies & Frost’s Coppings Goldfern Grand Lad, impressed in outline & on the move, good wedge, dark expressive eye, neat ears & feet, strength in back, strong quarters & covered the ground well;

2 Warne’s I’m On Fire, sharpish character & up for the job. Front not his fortune but head shape OK, well ribbed up, firm loin, good set-on & put in a good round;

3 van der Horst-Feith’s Handsup of Lovealoch, head, eye & ears were plus points with well held topline & neat feet. Not so positive when moving out but settled enough to show drive from a strong rearend.

LD (11)

1 Richards’ Pacolito Walteezer, strong, workmanlike character, head shape & proportions OK, strong jaw & good dentition, balanced all through, well laid shoulders, firm loin & good set on, moved out well with reach & drive;

2 Roberts & Todd’s Stars And Stripes, nicely made, well angulated & workmanlike, scored in head, neck & rib, good drive from strong hindquarters;

3 Sollis’ Mister Bonamonty, not quite the size of 1 & 2 but fit, sharp & up for it. Good wedge, expressive eye & neat ears & feet, topline OK, well ribbed up & once settled moved out well.

OD(20,4)

1 Baker’s Ch Giftrapped of Lovealoch to Pacolito, quality & he knows it, good head proportions, correct stop, strong jaw & excellent dentition, well carried & shaped ears, clean muscular but not overdone neck & balanced all through, well handled, moved freely with good stride & drive. CC;

2 Jones’ Ch Howlbeck Who-Uno at Neelan, from the top drawer, well angulated, balanced overall & nice for size, presented in harsh coat, pleased in head, neck & body. Not quite the front movement of 1 but covered the ground well with plenty of drive. RCC;

3 Swift & Parr’s Windynook Jeckyl or Hide, went about his job well, workmanlike & scored in head shape, ear carriage & neck, well held topline, good set-on & plenty of drive from rear.

GCD (3)

1 Eastwood’s Pacolito Preshous, strong jaw, good dentition, head shape OK & strong in body & hindquarters, covered the ground well;

2 A Masterpiece of I;

3 Kannangara’s Lenacourt Lunar Eclipse, not the bone & substance of 1 & 2. Not too happy on the move. Pleased in head, eye & neck.

VB (7)

1 Rimmer’s Ch/Ir/Int Ch Kylini Phoenix, still up for it & presented in excellent coat & condition, strong in back, good set on & well muscled up hindquarters, balanced on the move & drove well covering the ground;

2 Smith & Moon’s Ch Alne Foxglove, put on a good show, nice for size, keen expression, spanned OK, good topline & set-on, moved out well;

3 Copping’s Badgergrove Rose-E-Lee, competed a nice trio & pleased in outline, just enough bone, clean neck & held good topline on the move.

PB (4,2)

Two nice young ladies who were hard to separate.

1 Liddell’s Janes Lass, feminine, pleasing head shape, strong jaw & good dentition, scored in eye, ear shape & neck with moderate depth of chest, harsh coat & correct topline, moved out freely covering the ground well;

2 Towler’s Andralok Dazzler, close up, well made, pleasing outline on the move, head proportions OK, well carried ears, strong in body & nicely angulated. Once settled she put in a good round.

JB (13)

1 Roberts & Murray’s Mindlen Matuka, headed a strong class where first three were well matched. Quality head & expression, nicely sized & shaped ears, strong jaw & good dentition, pleased in neck & shoulder, well ribbed up, firm loin & strong quarters, balanced on the move, surely has a good future;

2 Baker’s Pacolito Phlattery, pushed 1 hard. Well made, balanced & with pleasing outline, good wedge, clean neck, strong back, well set on tail, drove well from muscular & strong hindquarters;

3 Bygate’s Windynook Rhthm Is A Dancer, nice sort, balanced head, scored in neck, shoulder & topline, good set-on, moved with plenty of reach.

YB (8,1)

1 Baker’s Pacolito Picture Image, nice for size & scored in head, jaw & dentition, clean neck, well ribbed up, strong hindquarters, moved out freely once settled;

2 Rimmer’s Kylini Spellsabound, not quite the sparkle of 1, good wedge, keen expression & pleased in ear, neck & topline, strong rearend, moved out quite well;

3 Davies’ Goldfern Grand Cru, attractive head & expression, more substance than 1 & 2 but not overdone. Nice lines, neat feet & though a little hesitant moved adequately.

PGB (17)

1 Richards’ Pacolito Phortune Monkey, just took this class on movement as first three were evenly matched. Well proportioned head, strong muzzle & jaw, well held topline & firm loin, good pelt & spanned OK, free ground covering movement;

2 Baker’s Pacolito Persuit, pushed 1 hard. Nice type, keen expression, straight front, neat compact feet & nicely balanced all through, put in a good round;

3 Bigland’s Heythrop Tandy, workmanlike, good wedge, clean neck, nice layback & good set on, moved well going away.

LB (21,2)

1 Baker’s Pacolito Pathfinder, well made, balanced headpiece, straight front & a firm correct topline, full of herself & presented a workmanlike picture standing & on the move, free striding action with drive & reach. RCC;

2 Baker’s Pacolito Picpoket at Spellbert, not quite the sparkle of 1 but scored in head, neck & body. Well ribbed up, plenty of balance all through & showed nice lines on the move;

3 Rimmer’s Kylini Mythnmyst, not outdone by 1 & 2. Good wedge, keen expression & pleased in front with clean neck, good layback & good set on. Once settled moved out quite well.

OB (16,4)

Strong class.

1 Baker’s Ch Pacolito Phirstclass, the Standard asks for a workmanlike active & agile dog. This was evident here & she has good head proportions, strong jaw & excellent dentition with teeth of good size to do a job. Clean muscular neck, well carried topline & strong hindquarters completed the picture, moved out freely. CC & BOB;

2 Jones’ Ch Neelans Tornado, nice for type & size, shown in good harsh coat, pleased in head & expression, balanced all through, strong in back, correct topline & good set-on. Carrying just a little condition but quality for all to see & moved well;

3 Huis’ Ch/Dutch/Bl/Lux/Hung/Int Ch Plappermaulchens Ivy, sharp, keen & up for the job with eye, ears & neck all plus points. Spanned OK & showed nice lines in profile & was balanced on the move once settled.

GCB (3)

1 Doyle’s Ilexquercus Rosy Rustic, well up in placings in LB. Feminine, keen expression & pleased in ears, neck & topline, improved on her previous performance on the move, especially going away;

2 Dolman’s Pacolito Phirstpick to Maxtay, finer all round & not the head qualities of 1 but scored in ears, neck & set on. A little hesitant on the move;

3 White & Bailey’s Rutaaro White Witch, solid white, presented in harsh coat, head proportions OK. A bit stuffy in neck & erratic on the move.
