AIREDALE JUDGE WINDSOR 19

Thank you to the exhibitors for entering under me as substitute judge for Alan Norcross (Paynnor) and may I take this opportunity to thank Alan for his contribution to the breed over very many years.

Windsor show is held in a beautiful setting and we were blessed with sunny weather with a slight breeze. 4th in the ring is not ideal but thankfully the BOB did not miss the Group. Thank you to my able and capable stewards and to the Windsor Committee for their hospitality. Generally movement overall could be better. With regard to tail carriage which I understand is under review, I consider tailset far more important than the natural carriage of the tail. Some tails might be more appealing than others but this should not be given too much weight when considering the whole dog. With the low entries we are now experiencing, if judges penalise tail carriage too harshly then the entries will deplete even further as there would be no incentive to show and exhibitors will take into consideration both this and the expense.

Veteran D/B: No entries
Puppy D: No entries

Junior D: (1):

1st Purchon’s Jokyl Draw The Line: Good length of head, nicely balanced with a dark eye and well carried ears which he uses giving a good and alert expression. Good mouth. Nice reach of neck into good lay of shoulder. Straight forelegs of good bone with neat well padded paws. Well presented quality coat. Good temperament. Would prefer more rear angulation.

Postgrad D: (2 /1Abs):

1st Milkovics’ Wederdena’ Stargazer: Nice head, eye and carries his ears well. Moderate length of neck into an OK lay of shoulder into topline. To finish tailset could be a bit higher. Rear angulation and movement OK. Front movement a little erratic. Closer trimming overall would enhance his good points.

Limit D: (1)

1st Moules’ Doraemi Buffalo Soldier DCC/BOB: Stood alone but this didn’t worry him. Alert and using his ears. Excellent well balanced head with good planes. No cheekiness. Dark nicely shaped eye. Good length of neck. Good lay of shoulder with upper arm of good length. Good topline but not helped by the trimming. Quality black and tan jacket. Good rear angulation. Movement on the day won him the CC.

Open Dog: (3 ):

1st Turner’s Crillee Maximus the Cool RDCC: Excellently presented quality jacket and expertly handled. Clean outline. Balanced head with nicely shaped eye and well carried ears giving a very good expression. Good reach of neck into good lay of shoulder.

2nd. Swash’s Ch Jokyl Wish List: Worthy champion with a lovely head of good length. Carries his ears well giving a good expression. Moderate length of neck into shoulder. Level topline and well carried tail with plenty behind. Quality coat well presented.

3rd Ablard’s Multi Ch Katherina’s Land Vip Lover.

Good Citizen D/B (1):

1st Webber’s Sherif’s Red Hot Sh.CM: 7yrs of age. Super quality coat and colour. Nice head which could be finer. A little short in neck which flows into an excellent topline. Good rear angulation with plenty behind the tail. Moved well in front and rear movement OK. Good spring of rib which is lacking in some.

Puppy B (3):

1st Swash’s Jokyl Star Burst BP: A star in the making. Super outline which she held for one so young. Lovely head and expression. Well carried ears which she uses. Full of confidence. Nice front, good length of neck into equally good shoulders. Excellent topline which is finished by a good tailset all leading to good rear angulation. Enjoying her experience which I like to see.

2nd Haly’s Vivavick Ad Libitum: Good length of head with nice eye and ear carriage giving a sweet expression. Moderate length of neck into nice lay of shoulder and good topline. To be picky tailset could be a tad higher. Good rear angulation. Well presented quality coat.

3rd. Richardson’s Glentops Naught But Nice

Junior B (3/1Abs):

1st Webber’s Kaolin Little Miss Sparkle: Good length of head with a lovely eye and nice ear carriage giving a good expression. Nice length of neck into good lay of shoulder. Front legs well placed giving good front movement. Level topline leading into a tailset that could be a bit higher. Presentation is good as she has excellent coat/colour/texture; although more refined trimming would improve overall appearance. Well handled.

2nd Swash’s Jokyl Star Dust. Giving a lot away in age to winner. Litter sister to best puppy and of a similar stamp, having a lovely length of head, good ear carriage and moderate length of neck into excellent topline and tailset. Quality jacket. Just needs to gain more confidence.

Postgrad B (5/1 Abs):

1st Edwards Vivavick Whoopee at Smock Alley: Cobby girl with nice head and ear placement. Uses her ears well giving good expression. Moderate length of neck into nice lay of shoulder and excellent topline and tailset. Good rear angulation with plenty behind the tail. Good spring of rib. Quality jacket with good colour. Not overly long giving a balanced appearance.

2nd Turner’s Crillee Cool Wishes: This girl has a pretty head with good ear carriage and lovely eye giving a good expression. Moderate length of neck into good topline. Tailset could be a tad higher. Not as steady in movement as winner. Coat of good colour and texture and as always expertly prepared and well handled.

3rd McCallum’s Glentops Movie Star

4th Aylett’s Jecadie Joyful Spiced Star at Rillaton

Limit B (3/1 Abs):

1st Toulson’s Toulsyork Nefarious: Cobby b with a quality coat in good condition and well presented. Balanced outline. Nice length of head with good eye and ear carriage giving good expression. Good reach of neck into nice lay of shoulder and topline, short back. Straight front and good bone. Good spring of rib. Good rear angulation and moved OK.

2nd Webber’s Jokyl Stars in Her Eyes Sh.CM. Cobby b but tends to look a bit heavy through head neck and shoulder. Nicely balanced head with good eye and ear carriage. Moderate length of neck into good shoulder and topline, finishing with a good tailset. Good rear angulation. More refined trimming on head, neck and shoulder would enhance her appearance.

Open B (5/2Abs):

1st Hampton & Halls’ Muliebrity Enchanted Bay BCC. Super head and expression from lovely dark eye and bang on ear carriage. Showing with attitude enhancing her overall picture. Lovely reach of neck into good lay of shoulder. Straight front with good bone. Level topline with tail on top. Good rear angulation giving good movement. Slightly erratic in front movement but when moved on loose lead improved. Quality black and tan jacket although would prefer a bit more of it.

2nd Brown’s Jokyl Noble Princess for Oceanaire Sh.CM RBCC. Another lovely girl and one that I have admired in the past. Quality jacket in good condition and nicely presented and handled. Good length of head with neat eye and ear carriage. Moderate length of neck into nice lay of shoulder and level topline with good tail set. Good rear angulation. Would have liked a little more terrier sparkle today and preferred rear movement of winner.

3rd Eddington’Hall’s Wendaire Kissed by an Angel JW, SH.CM.
