Airedale Terriers

This was the first time I had awarded CCs to Airedales in the UK & the entry of 45 from 41 dogs was excellent. Thanks to the exhibitors for their support & for the sporting way that they accepted the placings. I felt that there was a good deal of variation in type. Movement both in front & behind was at times a shade ‘iffy’ bit it was good to see so many good ones present in this impressive breed.

PD (4)

1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Truly Noble, a very strongly made youngster, he didn’t behave well all the time but I felt he was more mature than 2 here & a shade more compact in body. Good tailset & pleasing in hind movement but could tighten up a shade in front. Good in head & expression;

2 Toulson’s Toulsyork King Lincoln, slightly less heavily made than 1. Very good in head & excellent in neck. Moved out well but was just a shade longer in back than 1. Moved out well behind & was good in stifle & well muscled;

3 Turner’s Crillee Catch Of The Day.

JD (6,1a)

1 Lees’ Stargus Black Sabre, very strongly made young dog, good skull & correct foreface. Could use ears better at times, moved up & down very well. Good neck & topline & good underline. Pleasing for body proportions & had more body than 2. Good bone & good compact feet;

2 Morris’ Nedella Black Opal, a bit over presented, pleasing in head & neck. Needs a bit more coat & substance all round, but OK for age. Good topline & shape;

3 Collins’ Colldale Son Of Adventurer.

PGD (3)

1 Burkin’s Nedella Flash Opal, had been reserve in previous class. Scored over the others here for movement. He needs to develop a bit in head & body to finish the picture. Moved OK in front & has enough bone for age. Good backline & scored in hindquarters over

2 Webber’s Sherifs Red Hot, stronger in head than 1. Not quite the hind leg furnishings & didn’t move quite so well behind as 1. Good shoulder & front & enough depth of chest, OK in rib & good topline;

3 Markwick’s Crillee Catcher In The Rye.

LD (5,2)

1 Callon & Callon-Winn’s Sonorra Christmas Cracker from Russtam, very pleasing in head & expression with good skull & correct eye. Good neck & shoulder, flowing into excellent topline, correct body proportions. Good short back & OK in stifles. Pleasing in outline & excellent for type. Moved out well in front & behind. Well muscled & shown in good wiry coat. CC & BOB;

2 Stuart’s Garland It Could Be Magic, not quite the head of 1. Just a little bit longer in back. Not quite the topline of 1 but very good in tailset. Moved out well behind. Good in rib but a little longer & more dippy in back than preferred;

3 C Catcher In The Rye.

OD (4,1)

1 Hacker & Jenkins’ Ch Sherifs Red Beret, very good outline. Correct in stifle but could have moved with a shade more drive behind & was a bit loose in hock. Was better in topline standing than 2. Good shoulder & front assembly. Pleasing in outline & correct tailset. Plenty of substance & depth of chest. Good compact feet;

2 Jackson & Swash’s Ch Jokyl The Party Line, another pleasing dog who could be better in hocks & could stand up better on his feet at times & have a bit more ‘attitude’. Very good in head & OK in neck. Not quite the topline of the winner but plenty of style & strength;

3 C Catcher In The Rye.

GC (1)

1 Sherifs Red Hot.

PB (4)

1 Fernandez & Purnell’s Jokyl Gold Star, much less mature than some of the others here, but better moving behind than 2. Needs time to develop in body. Good enough bone for her age & correct compact feet. Good in head with correct expression. Good skull. Good neck & enough stifle. Moved out well & scored over 2 for hind movement. BP;

2 Brown’s Jokyl Noble Princess, a stronger bitch all through & good tailset, plenty of depth of chest & enough spring of rib. Not quite the hind movement of 1;

3 Turner’s Jokyl Star Struck.

JB (2,1)

1 Collins’ Colldale Adventuress Girl, a very sound moving youngster. Needs a bit of time to finish in body but good head & correct ears well carried & not too big. Good in neck with good shoulders & excellent topline. Good tailset. Enough bone for age. Good feet. Scored for movement in front & behind.

PGB (4,1)

1 Lee’s Basidale Blythe Spirit of Stargus, an easy winner here I thought, very good in head an&d expression. Good neck, topline & tailset. Enough depth of chest for age. Very pleasing in forehand. Good compact feet. Shown in excellent coat. Correct in stifle. Could drive a shade more behind but has a good deal of quality about her;

2 Hilton’s Colldale High Flyer of Touessrok, younger than 3, OK in neck & topline but not quite the movement or style of 1. Very pleasing in back. Enough spring of rib & appeared good in shoulder standing, but on the move was better behind than in front;

3 Haly’s Vivavick Tittletattle.

LB (7)

Though quite lightly made, the first two here had some style about them.

1 Collins’ Beacytan Best Seller of Colldale, young bitch, very pleasing in neck. OK in head & expression. Good topline, needs to body up a little to complete the picture. Good bone & correct compact feet. Moved out cleanly but could do with just a shade more drive;

2 Keay’s Jaymitch Jaunty Panachon, also good in head. Correct ears. Good neck flowing into good topline. Tail could be better. Good feet & scored over 1 in stifle when standing. Moved OK in front & behind;

3 Toulson’s Toulsyork Ha Ha Hope.

OB (5)

1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Simply Red, a strongly made bitch, very pleasing in shape & outline both standing & moving. Moved well in front & behind, though her coat in front didn’t help. Good in neck & topline. Plenty of coat of the right texture. Good outline. Good eye & pleasing typical expression. CC;

2 Turner’s Ch Crillee Carry On Baby, she was very good in neck with an excellent firm topline & tailset. Head certainly not too broad & had enough length. Good outline, very good neck & good rib & correct tight feet. RCC;

3 Turner’s Crillee Cool Scarlet.
