AIREDALE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 13 Judge: Mr R Gregg BEST OF BREED : 4464 AVERIS, Mrs J & BARKER Mr T Ch Katerinas Land Spicy Cherry At Saredon AIREDALE JUDGE WKC 13 Airedale Terriers I am disappointed at the overall quality of the breed, too many lose the topline when on the move & fall to the tail, strong forefaces are scarce, while movement is generally true, most lack drive from the rear & tiptoe round with little forward extension. Mouths were mostly sound with only two or three minor concerns. PD 1 Byrne & Vickers’ Catch Me If You Can at Joedean, good head & neck into short back with good set on, nice front & good rear angulation. Temperament might be a concern; 2 Collins’ Colldale The Gladiator, good head with nice ear carriage & good eye, correct straight front. Could do with more rib & stronger quarters. JD 1 Gray’s Oaksteaire The Maestro at Grayaire, good ear & eye, lovely neck & front into short back with high set on, good rearend which should develop into strong quarters, good textured coat. Bite not the best. Overall quality secured RCC; 2 Hacker & Jenkins’ Sherifs Red Beret, bit more size than most, good masculine head supporting the much desired strong foreface, much along with eye & ear give correct breed expression, straight front, good rear angulation, nice coat & lovely attitude. Body condition needs to improve; 3 Edwards’ Smockalley The Joker. PGD 1 Stuart’s Garland It Could Be Magic, right size, masculine dog, good coat & colour, level topline with good tailset, strong quarters with drive. Lacks foreface, attitude could be better. LD 1 Noyce’s Black Prince of Caraidaire, balanced dog with good head & foreface, excellent front & neck into nice layback of shoulder, level topline with high set on & good rear angles, good coat, high ear carriage foreign to the breed; 2 Brown’s Oceanalre Beachcomber, masculine head with nice sized ear, good eye, well proportioned with straight front & well bodied. Short in second thigh & loses topline on the move. OD 1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokylstarturn, proper head & foreface with neat eye & smallish ear giving Airedale expression, good straight front, well laid shoulder & level topline kept on the move, well angulated quarters & in hard condition, all over producing good rear drive & front extension, good coated dog. Perhaps a little surplus day light. CC; 2 McCallum’s Glentops Hugh Bett, short & compact with good balance straight front, good topline, high tailset & strong rearquarters. Would like more second thigh & fuller foreface; 3 Turner, Jackson & Swash’s Ch Crillee Carry On Commando with Jokyl. MPB 1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Simply Red, sweet head & expression, lovely refined neck & correct front, well bodied with good topline & tail carriage, nice low hocks; 2 Purchon’s Nedella All Spice, feminine head & foreface, nice neck into well laidback shoulder & well developed body. Has a little extra length in the loin & short in second thigh. PB 1 McCallum’s Ladsacres Black Orchid at Glentops, good head & foreface, nice eye & ear giving right expression, correct neck, front & shoulder, well developed rib, good coat. Could be better in tailset & second thigh; 2 Collins’ Collidale Hope And Glory, good eye & ear, nice length of neck, short body, good front & well made quarters. Another shortish in second thigh, little too much head; 3 Turner’s Crillee Cool Scarlet. JB 1 Fernandez & Purnell’s Mulliebrlty Rilletta, head, foreface, ear & eye all good. Nice neck & shoulder with ample body, good quarters & decent tail carriage. Front a little narrow & loin lengthy; 2 Hampton & Hall’s Mulliebrity Oceana, short body, good topline & tailset, straight front, nice coat & colour. Overdone in head & poor rear end. PGB 1 Turner’s Crillee Carry On Baby, small dark eye, neat ear, good head, nice forehand with neck, shoulder & front well proportioned, good coat & colour. Body a little long; 2 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Starlet, good head & foreface, nice neck & shoulder into well ribbed body, nice length & strong quarters. Not the best of ears, lost topline on move; 3 Hunter’s Hazen Aide Seen A New Light. LB 1 Callon & Callon-Winn’s Russtam Star Princess, correct head with ear eye & foreface well proportioned, nice neck & shoulder into short straight body with good tailset, good coat. Spoils herself by standing too far over elbows; 2 McCallum’s Ladsacre April Love with Glentops, short bodied bitch with neat ear & eye, well coated, good front & strong rearquarters. Loses out in foreface; 3 Noyce’s Jokyl Roulette for Catladajre. OB 1 Averis & Barker’s Ch Katerinas Land Spicy Cherry at Ssaredon, best quality on show, good foreface & lovely ear carriage, straight terrier front with elbows forward & in below her body, short level topline & high set on, well angled quarters with nice low hocks. Just a little more layback would allow better reach & drive from the rear. Excellent ring manners, justly deserved CC & BOB; 2 Johnston’s Jecadie Dipped In Spice, good head, correct ear & eye, well made body with level top & good tailset, moves better than most & keeps level. A little short in leg & shoulder could be refined. RCC; 3 Edington-Hall’s Jetstream Russian at Wenda. ROY GREGG |
