AIREDALE JUDGE SOUTHERN COUNTIES 13
Many thanks to Southern Counties Canine Association, the exhibits and their owners and my two able stewards for giving me an enjoyable day.
BCC and BOB- Mrs J Averis and Mr A Barker’s Katherina’s Land Spicy Cherry of Saredon, DCC - Mrs L Lee’s Ch. Stargus Raiden. RBCC- Mrs E Johnstone’s Jecadie Dipped in Spice, RDCC - Mrs OK Jackson & M Swash’ Jokyl Star Turn. Best Puppy - M Hacker & D Jenkins Sheriffs Red Beret. I was very pleased to hear my BOB was awarded group 2. (A good day for the Spice Girls!) Movement was a little difficult to assess as the slight slope in the ring made many exhibits throw their front legs around, this is why I had to move one or two across the ring for my final decision in some classes.
Puppy Dog (1)
1.M Hacker & D Jenkins Sheriffs Red Beret. Stood alone but still showed as though the ring was full. Very masculine with a long, balanced, punishing head, flat skull, little stop, strong foreface. Good dentition, dark eye, used his ears well. Long neck into well laid shoulders, back short enough, topline level both standing and moving. Good tailset, nicely ribbed up, well muscled quarters. Moved with drive. Prepared and handled well. Still has lots of time on his side and I feel he has a very promising future. Best Puppy.
Junior Dog (2, 1 abs)
1.Mrs J Edwards. Smockalley The Joker. Promising youngster who showed typical Airedale spirit. Nice head, flat skull, would like the eye to be a little darker but the shape is correct, good mouth, adequate neck, shoulders OK, nice straight front. Level topline, deep rib, good tuck. Nicely muscled quarters. Moved OK.
Post Graduate Dog (no entries)
Limit Dog (2,0)
1. Mr D & Mrs JM Brown’s Oceanaire Beachcomber. Upstanding dog, very masculine. Long, balanced head, ears well placed and used correctly, flat skull. Adequate neck, shoulders OK, level topline, well ribbed up. Nicely muscled and angulated at rear, straight front, moved and showed well. Presented and handled well.
2. Mr TW & Mrs D & Miss SJ Noyce Black Prince of Cariadaire. Smaller type than one, but still masculine, straight front, level topline. Good coat and colour, well presented. Movement was a little loose both fore and aft. Was difficult to assess as he really wasn’t in the mood.
Open Dog (3, 0)
1. Mrs L Lee’s Ch. Stargus Raiden . Cobby, masculine dog with lots of ring presence and attitude. Lovely long head, flat skull, correct ear placement and use, correct dentition, clean throat, straight front, long neck into well placed shoulders, short back, well ribbed up, level topline, tail on top and lots behind Presented and handled perfectly. Never stopped showing and he really demanded the DCC
2 . Mrs OK Jackson & Mrs M Swash’ Jokyl Star Turn . Upstanding youngster with lots of style. Long well balanced head, excellent ear placement, long neck into well laid shoulders, level topline, tail on top, plenty behind. Good coat and colour. Moved steadily. Presented and handled very well. I feel this young dog still has a bit of finishing to do but I am sure he won’t be long before he reaches his peak. RDCC
3. Mr R & Mrs J Turner & Mrs OK Jackson & Mrs M Swash Ch. Crillee Carry On Commando With Jokyl
Veteran Dog or Bitch (no entries)
Good Citizen Dog or Bitch (2,0)
1. Mr. MF Fernandez & Mr CJ Purnell Muliebrity Rilletta. Elegant bitch with lots of style and ring presence, I have watched her for a while and wasn’t disappointed when I went over her. Long lean head, dark eye, flat skull, good mouth, straight front, just right amount of space between her forelegs, excellent neck into well laid shoulders, level topline. Good spring of rib, nicely tucked. Moved well both fore and aft. Very well presented and handled
2. Fraser’s Edenros Moonshine. Cobby bitch, well balanced all through. Nice eye, good mouth grizzle coat. Level topline which she held standing and moving. Well muscled quarters, good tailset. Didn’t seem so happy today and wouldn’t use her ears which spoiled her expression.
Puppy Bitch (2, 0)
1.Mrs J Terry’s Daielsie Jans Go Girl Go. Happy puppy, very confident, showing well. Nice head, ears well placed and used. Elegant outline, long neck, shoulders OK, level topline. Presented, handled and moved well.
2. Mr P & Mrs E Hilton’s Colldale High Flyer Of Toussrok. Very much a baby at just under 7 months and doing her best to do what her handler asked. As yet she is still in baby coat but presentation was OK. Pretty girl who still has a long way to go.
Junior Bitch (5,0abs)
1. Mr. MF Fernandez & Mr CJ Purnell Muliebrity Rilletta
2. Miss D Hampton & Miss TK Hall’s Mulbiebrity Oceana. Litter sister to one and doesn’t it show, most of the comments made about the winner applies to this bitch too and changing places is going to be commonplace in the future. I like them both but the winner of the class was just on her toes a little more today. Presentation and handling was excellent
3. Mrs E Oates Stabucks Immy
Post Graduate Bitch (4,0)
1. Mr R I & Mrs J Turner’s Crillee Carry On Baby. Very promising young bitch with a bright future, she pushed very hard in the challenge for the RCC. Good head, flat skull, correct mouth, ears well placed and used well. Long neck into very good shoulder placement, straight front, well sprung rib, nice tuck, level topline, tail on top. Her outline when standing was stunning. Moved, showed, presented and handled very well.
2. Mrs L Lee Stargus Valentina. Different type to one, lovely grizzle jacket, very well presented and handled. Strong head, dark eye, ear carriage and placement correct. Long neck, short back, well angulated and muscled quarters, tail on top. Front movement a little loose.
3. Mrs OK Jackson & Mrs M Swash’ Jokyl Starlet
Limit Bitch (7, 1w/d)
1. Mrs E Johnstone Jecadie Dipped in Spice. Classy bitch with lots of style. Good head, correct mouth, ears placed and used well. She has the perfect example of what an Airedale’s eye should be, dark, neat, clean, almond shaped and giving the true ‘varminty’ expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, short, level back, tail on top. Well angulated rear, good spring of rib, nicely tucked. Very well presented and handled, moved and showed well. RBCC
2. Mr GM & Mrs C Keay’s Jaymitch Gift Before Dawn. Another quality bitch, good head, mouth, ear set and usage. Clean front, nicely ribbed up, adequate neck into good shoulders. Level topline, good tailset. Handled and presented well.
3. Ms WA Edington-Hall’s Wendaire Joker’s Angels Kiss
Open Bitch (2,0)
1. Mrs J Averis and Mr A Barker’s Katherina’s Land Spicy Cherry of Saredon. Classic head, good mouth, perfect dark, almond shaped eye, little or no stop, flat skull, ear placement and carriage good. Long elegant neck into excellent shoulders, short back, tail on top. Totally feminine all through. Presented in superb condition, coat and colour just as it should be. Exhibit and handler working as one throughout. She really is a super quality bitch and I’m not surprised that she has remained unbeaten in the breed and in the group placings on so many occasions since her first show in April. BCC & BOB and Group 2
2. Mrs OK Jackson & Mrs M Swash’ Ch. Jokyl Red Ribbons. Another quality bitch but of a different type to one. Long head, dark eye, ears well placed, long neck into well laid shoulders, level topline, good tail set. Nicely angulated rear, good muscletone. Super, hard grizzle jacket. Presented in lovely condition, moved and showed well.
