AIREDALE JUDGE RICHMOND 10

Airedale Terrier

It was a pleasure for me to officiate at this Society’s Championship Show held at Loseley Park. Surrey with what was considered a good entry for the breed this year. I thank the Society Officers for the warm welcome and hospitality they extended to my wife and myself throughout the day and to the appointed stewards for all their help. I thank the exhibitors for their welcome and for the manner, in which they accepted my decisions during the day, I have not had the opportunity to attend a general Championship show since the occasion of the “fire” at Blackpool some three years ago. I came to the show fully refreshed and relaxed with a clear mind tuned to the breed I was to go over on and assess on the day, which I truly enjoyed. I feel the quality of the breed is being maintained, although the numbers being entered for the shows in general are down, I believe much in the canine world is very much on the decline. Is this the sign of the time and economic climate, or is there some other reason? I am very happy with my principal winners at this show. The presentation of the majority of the exhibits was excellent in grooming, and the handling was generally good. I wish that exhibitors would use the good sized rings more to their advantage, using the full area to show your dogs with ‘STYLE’ which one expects in this breed. My Best of Breed. I selected the Dog CC.winner in Collin’s Collcurr Courageous. I believe, it was mentioned I had given this dog his second CC, Reserve Best Dog wasTurners. Crillee Cool as Jack. Bitch C.C. winner Lee’s. Stargus Black Lace. Again I understand this C.C. made her a full Champion on the day. Subject to K.C. confirmation. Reserve Bitch CC was won Morris’s. Kenocto Amaryllis at Nedella and Best Puppy Brand’s Branded Miss Scarlet.

JD (2,1)

1 Cole’s. Jaymitch Walk Awhile by Magwyr. 13mth. Balanced head. Alert eye and correct ear placements. Sound mouth, overall well made neck, shoulders and body for age, would have liked a better tail set. Moved well on the day.

PGD (1) Withdrawn from ring.

LD (3)

1 & R,C.C Turner’s. Crillee Cool As Jock. Pleasing outline, Well balanced head with well shaped and placed ears, correct eye, sound mouth, good front, chest and shoulders to body construction, correct coat, nice tail sat and hind angulation, moved sound front and rear. Good presentation.

2. Hacker & Jenkins. Another by same sire as 1 and similar outline. Good length of head, has all the attributes as the 1st today, I would have liked to have just a little more drive when moving. Good presentation.

3 Toulson’s. Toulsyork Combat Cooper.

OD (4)

1. CC & BOB Collins’s. Collcurr Courageous. Superb overall outline and presentation. Lovely balanced length of head with alert attentive dark eyes, sound mouth, well placed ears. Sound neck to shoulders and front good legs. Well made body with good ribs to loin. I liked his hind angulation to hocks of this dog which gave him fluid style and depth of drive when moving. One could not ask for more.

2 Ventres’s. Junaken Vaidian. I liked the overall picture of this dog and the similar type to the above exhibit. He is well put together and in the best of condition and presentation. My final decision I would have liked to see some depth of drive from the hind quarter.

3 Jackson and Swash’s. Jokyl Flash Gordon.

PB (2)

1.& Best Puppy. Brand’s. Branded Miss Scarlet. 10mth. Has all the essential qualities for a very bright future, Balanced head, smiling alert eyes, sound mouth and correct ear placement. General overall bone construction is sound and is well put together. Has a good texture of coat being well presented. Moved well today. This one enjoys showing.

2. Cole’s. Mogwyr Llanfair Dazzler. Still a baby at 7mth. Another nice type that has all the qualities, she has time to mature more and come into her own. I know she has the best qualities in her, still to mature.

JB (3,1)

1. Keay’s. Jaymitch Over Malvern. Good balanced head, well placed eyes, sound mouth and good ear setting. Good strength of neck set into good shoulders and front with straight forelegs. I liked her spring of rib and body. Her hind quarters were well developed driving the hind quarters. Best of movement fore and hind. I feel this bitch has a good future in the show ring given a little time.

2. Haly’s. Vivavick’s The Royal We. This bitch again has all the qualities required for the breed. Well balanced head with alert dark eyes, sound mouth and good ears. Neck and shoulders are well developed and a sound front. Pleasing body and hind quarters. Movement was sound, but today, I preferred the driving movement of the winner.

PGB (3,1)

1. Hacker & Jenkins’s. Sherifs Winter Jasmin. Nice balanced head with character and strength. Dark expressive eyes, sound mouth, correct set ears. Nice muscled neck into shoulders and front area, good forelegs and feet. I liked her body and loin area to sound hind driving action. Moved well front and rear.

2. Edwards’s. Smokealley Top Totty. Pleasing balanced head, dark eye. Sound mouth, good neck and shoulders. Her body is well developed to Loin and hind quarters. I feel she requires a little more time to fully mature. I would have liked a little better tail set. Moved well.

LB (7,3)

1. & Res CC Morris’s. Kenocto Amaryllis At Nedella. This one caught my eye immediately she entered the ring. This is one with style. I liked her balanced quality head. Dark eye, sound mouth, nice ear placement. Neck to shoulders well developed and straight legs. Good spring of body and loin. Well made hind quarters which enabled her to move well fore and aft. I feel this bitch is still maturing.

2 Felstead’s. Minnisoda Calender Girl. Good overall type. Balanced head, well placed ears sound mouth. Clean neck and shoulders, pleasing body and hind quarters. I would have looked a better tail set and to see better depth of hind action.

3 Oates’s. Stabuks Primrose.

OB (4,1)

1. & CC Lee’s. Stargus Black Lace. 2yr bitch just full of quality overall. Lovely balanced head in all directions. Alert dark intelligent eyes. Sound clean mouth. Correct placed ears. Well developed muscled neck and shoulders of strength to sound chest. Good front legs, good spring of rib and body, strong loin and super hind quarter and angulated legs which developed depth of drive. Moving was superb front and rear. I believe and understand this now makes her up. A worthy Champion. (Subject to KC confirmation)

2 Toulson’s What Comes Around via Toulsyork. Unfortunate to come up against the winner for me today. Very much on similar lines but a shade smaller for me. She has all the lovely essential qualities that is required and still maturing I feel. Again nice balanced head. Dark eyes nicely placed ears on top, well shaped neck into good shoulders, good rib and body. Hindquarters are balanced. Moved very sound front and hind.

3 Terry’s. Ch. Daielsie Jans Party Girl.
