AIREDALE JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 12

First and foremost I would like to thank the exhibitors for braving the awful weather and atrocious conditions and your forbearance under very trying circumstances. For once I was pleased not to be exhibiting! The dogs were in pretty good condition when they got to the ring, congratulations to you all. I would like to thank my two stewards Sharon Loades and Liz Brun (both in Malamutes) for their able assistance and the Show Committee for doing a pretty remarkable job all things being considered. Movement overall was not good but this may have been due to the unsettling conditions. Type is very varied.

PD (2)

1 Byrne & Vickers Jodean East is East. To the East he travelled and conquered winning BP. Good coat, rich black and tan. Long head with an excellent expression from a nice sized dark eye and well carried ears. Scissor bite. Neck of good length into a nice shoulder and upper arm. Topline and tailset good. Rear movement good, needs to steady in front, but time is on his side.

2. Steinke’s Temtiz African Zulu Warrior. Good coat coming through. Good length of head. Sweet expression from a good eye, but ears could be better. Scissor bite. More neck would balance his length of body. Would prefer a better topline and tailset. Rear angulation good. Movement was OK.

JD (2)

1 Jackson & Swash Jokyl Star Turn. Up to size with good show attitude and coming together well. Excellent coat and colour. Good length of head. Dark eye and excellent ear carriage giving a good expression. Enough neck into good shoulder. Front and rear angulation good. Tailset good. Good substance. Bit unsteady in movement but settled down enough to win the class.

2 Morris’s Nedella Gambling Man. Well presented and handled. Good coat and colour. Good length of head with good eye and ear carriage. Well angulated in front and rear. Didn’t seem too happy.

ND (0)

PGD (1)

1 Chadwick’s Shadlian Fields of Gold at Aggello. Good coat but with tighter trimming could be better. Good length of head. Nice expression from dark eyes. Ears could be carried higher. Scissor bite; Nice reach of neck into an OK shoulder. Upper arm could be better. Good rear angulation. OK topline and tailset. Steady mover.

LD (3/1Ab)

1 Toulson’s Toulsyork Delfy Dexter. Shapely showy dog with a good outline. Excellent presentation. Would like a bit more length of head for overall balance. Expression good from a nice eye and ear carriage. Scissor bite. Nice length of neck into good shoulders. Good front and rear angulation. Rear movement good but throws front a bit. Just needs to mature and tighten all round. RDCC.

2. Brown’s Oceanaire Beachcomber. Has matured well. Excellent coat and colour. Well presented and handled. Good length and balanced head. Nice sized eye and expression OK when uses his ears. Good bite. Moderate reach of neck. Body and outline has improved with maturity. Front and rear angulation good but tends to prop slightly in front. Movement OK but he does give the air of being bored, or is he just stubborn!

OD (4)

1 Turner, Swash & Jackson Ch Crillee Carry Commando with Jokyl. Excellent coat and colour with good texture and well presented. Good length of head which balances his overall outline. Excellent expression from a good sized eye and ear. Scissor bite. Good reach of neck into shoulder. Front and rear angulation good. Excellent steady mover both coming and going. Topline could be better but when he shows he pulls himself together. He doesn’t always help his handler. DCC.

2 Collins Collcurr Courageous. Excellent outline. Good coat and colour. Good length of head with a dark eye. Level topline and good tail set. Front and rear angulation good. Ear carriage could be better and would like better rear movement. Showing well after his break from the ring.

PB (2)

1 Turners Crillee Carry on Baby. Excellent well presented black and tan jacket. Neat head with an excellent expression from dark and very good ear carriage. Scissor bite. Nice reach of neck into an OK shoulder. Good substance for age just needs to strengthen in topline. Good rear movement.

2. Steinke’s Temtiz African Flame Lily. Litter sister to 2nd in PD. Much prefer her for overall outline and balance. Needs tighter trimming. Good length of head with a good expression although ear carriage could be higher. Scissor bite. Sufficient neck into a nice shoulder. Steady rear movement but throws her front.

JB (5/1Ab)

1 Toulsons Toulsyork Effulgent. Good slightly grizzled coat. Head of good length but still needs to develop more. Good expression from a good eye and ear carriage. Scissor bite. Nice reach of neck into a good shoulder. Good front and rear angulations. Excellent overall outline.

2 McCallum’s Ladsacres April Love with Glentops Excellent coat and colour in good trim. Head could be longer. Sweet expression from a good dark eye and ear carriage. Moderate length of neck into shoulder. Good rear angulation and moved steady. A very nice cobby compact girl.

NB (1/1Ab).

PGB (6/2Ab)

1 Johnstone’s Jecadie Dipped in Spice. Nice bitch all round. Excellent coat in good trim. Good expression from dark eye and ear carriage. Scissor bite. Sufficient length of neck into good shoulder. Good body and outline. Could be a bit shorter in back. Steady mover.

2 Callon & Callon-Winn Russtam Star Princess. Did not help her handler and so did not give of her best, especially in movement. Head of good length with a keen expression from eye and ear. Scissor bite. Nice reach of neck. Good outline and tail set.

LB (7)

1 Jackson & Swash Jokyl Red Ribbons. Quality show girl of good proportions. Good coat and colour. Lovely length of head with a pretty feminine expression from a dark eye and excellent ear carriage. Scissor bite. Neck of good length. Shoulder and upper arm give good front angulation as is her rear. Movement unsettled at first but pulled it all together to win the class. She continued to improve in the challenge and this and her alertness edged her to winning the CC and BOB. I was told this also awarded her the title of champion – congratulations!

2 Byrne Pear & Vicker Knowlington A Dolly Daydream for Alkinra. Cobby smaller b of different type to one. Excellent coat and colour. High presentation, may be a tad overtrimmed. Stunning head with excellent dark eye and ear carriage. Scissor bite. Good reach of neck into shoulder. Topline tends to rise towards her tail. Good tail set and rear angulation. More furnishings would also finish the picture.

OB (4)

1 Miller’s Lakeaire Lily the Pink SCHM. Has matured into a nice bitch. Would prefer her a bit bigger. Excellent coat and colour, well presented. Good length of head which balances her cobby body. Good expression from good eye and ear carriage. Scissor bite. Nice reach of neck into shoulders. Excellent topline and tailset. Good rear angulation. In the challenge did not help her handler on the move and could would like a bit more animation. RBCC.

2 Jackson & Swash Ch Jokyl Time to Party. A quality b now fully matured since I last judged her. Good coat and colour. Head of good length. Nice expression from well carried ears. Scissor bite. Good reach of neck into a nice shoulder. Rear angulation good. Did not seem to be too happy today.
