AIREDALE JUDGE CRUFTS 25

First my thanks to my excellent stewards Sue Finan and Bryony Rochester who kept the ring moving smoothly all through and to all the exhibitors helping make it a really special day. There were many close decisions with some lovely quality classes

VD (3.1)

Two lovely gentleman strutting their stuff in Airedale style.

1 Purchon’s Jokyl Draw The Line, 7 years young with good hard coat and head length, strength in muzzle with strong bite, nice eye with lovely ear carriage which he used to advantage. Strong overall body shape and muscle tone with strength in back quarters showing on the move and topline still firm to take Best Veteran later in the challenge.

2 Ruckova’s Michael Michi Adia Avi, 8 yrs and moving with strength from back quarters still with plenty of muscle, good length to head, keen eye, good coat liked his overall body shape and size. Didn’t let his handler down on the move - topline staying level. Two nice dogs both brought in good condition and full of terrier spirit just preferred the ears on one.

PD (1)

1 Simpson-Jones, Cwmplentyn Spirit in the Sky. A little unsure to begin with, but handler brought this smart 10 month lad round to show his virtues with a well-proportioned head developing, just the right width between ears, correct bite and nice eye placement. Body shape in keeping with age and a lovely coat, unsure at first on moving but gathered confidence on a second run, finishing well.

JD (3)

1 Eastall’s Shadlisa On A High Together at Daedal. Liked the length of foreface and overall body shape and size of this not quite 18 month old confident lad. Balanced head with strong jaw, nice ear placement and set well, which he used to advantage with correct eye placement. Good overall body length, firm topline and size to match, handler couldn’t have asked more of him keeping him firm but steady on the move to take the class.

2 Edington-Hall & Ballinger Est Etiam Novus Angelus Mit Wendaire (Imp UKR) Lovely overall size and shape to this stylish 17 month youngster, liked his head type with length and strength in jaw, nice eye and ear set, with clean neck into shoulders and depth of chest between strong straight legs. Strong front giving the edge on third, pulling a little on the first move, but corrected when moved again.

3 Salti’s Bjorn Di Casa Saltitiziana. Liked the well-structured head shape with strength and balance, good strong jaw and muzzle, with keen eye and expression, nice length to neck well boned legs, with substance in body to match overall shape and outline. OD (8.7)

An excellent class you can only dream you will have at Crufts with only a whisker between the first two and 3rd also pushed hard. I was nit picking, like a picture you need to step away from so you can see the look the whole and not just the parts!

1 Brown’s CH Jokyl Daily Special JW. Pure class from nose to tail! Scores in head shape, correct width between the ears, leading to required balance between skull and foreface, strong powerful jaw, keen dark eye complemented by well set ear carriage giving the lovely masculine expression that gave him the edge today. Clean muscular neck into well laid back shoulders, straight front and short coupled good rib. Length in thighs and well bent stifles, good tail set and topline remaining firm on the move with forelegs moving parallel and strength in back quarters everything flowing into one picture with no exaggerations. Happy to award DCC and BOB.

2 Callon & Callon-Winn’s Ch Russtam Jax The Gentleman, As good on the move as on the profile. A lovely showman pushed one hard - both with excellent attributes and no exaggerations. Good well shaped headpiece, with all the right proportions in skull and foreface, lovely eye set and length of muzzle, strong jaw and strength in foreface. Short strong body with substance to match, good rib and well-muscled strong loins, nice compact feet, no hint of weakness on the move and firm topline, with good tail set to take RDCC.
