AIREDALE CRUFTS 24 Judge: Mr M Hacker I would like to thank the Crufts team for making us welcome and looking after us so well, also the ring stewards who were outstanding. Thank you to the exhibitors for their sporting attitude, it all made for a most enjoyable day. Movement remains a real problem in the breed with many dogs looking promising when standing but disappointing on the move. Temperament on the whole is good, the few reticent exhibits probably just being uncooperative rather than nervous. I noticed quite a few who were rather longer cast than one would wish – something to watch out for in the future. Congratulations to the BOB on being short-listed in the group. Major winners were: DCC & BOB Brown’s Ch Jokyl Daily Special JW, RDCC Callon & Callon-Winn’s Ch Russtam Jax The Gentleman, BCC & RBOB Turner’s Ch Crillee Carry On Party Baby, RBCC Underwood’s Ch Jokyl Rising Star, BP Pickering’s Jolliver Dave Ja Vu, BV Von Koch’s Multi Ch Katerina’s Land Wish Me Luck 1. Von Koch’s Multi Ch Katherina’s Land Wish Me Luck, well balanced dog, good flow of neck into very well laid back shoulder, strong hindquarters with good tail set, still moving freely. 2. Ruckova’s Michael Michi Adia Avi, similar construction to 1 but heavier in skull, strong neck, good lay of shoulder, short back giving super profile, moved freely. 3. Moore’s Jokyl True Grit At Arngask 1. Pickering’s Jolliver Dave Ja Vu, stood alone but a worthy winner, mature and stylish, long head, straight front, good lay of shoulder, good depth at brisket, level back, tailset and rear angulation adequate, well presented and handled, movement gave him the edge over the bitch puppy for BP 1 Chini’s Buon Aires Black Pearl Of Kevlet, an impressive young dog with a super profile, neat head, correct ear carriage, keen expression, straight front, level back, the best hindquarters with a wonderful tailset and plenty of dog behind the tail, good bend of stifle, harsh coat trimmed to perfection, amenable temperament, I seriously considered this dog for top honours but would like just a bit more of him. 2. Knight’s, Steinke & Stokes Temtiz Buzz Lightyear At Lelaps, a mature masculine dog with a good long head, well developed body with a level top line, overall well constructed, would benefit from closer trimming, gaining in confidence which will make all the difference 1. Rozental Mashevski’s Your Majesty The Kind Of Nessland, finer type of dog with a harsh dark coat and presenting a good profile, neat head, good ear carriage, alert expression, short level back, high tailset and well bent stifles, moved with good rear drive, would benefit from closer trimming at front. 2. Fearnhead’s Settlebeck Royal Flush, masculine dog with plenty of substance, excellent long head of good proportions, keen expression, well developed body but long cast, tail set and rear angulation OK, ideal temperament, steady but alert, won through on good free movement. 3. Simson-Jones’ Cwmplentyn Jack Of Hearts, another dog with good free movement, correct head, eye and ear carriage, well positioned shoulder blades, level back , slightly long in couplings, tailset and rear angulation good. 1. Salti’s Sarson Salti, masculine, balanced and sound dog, long head of correct proportions, dark eye, used ears well, strong neck flowing nicely into well laid back shoulder and level top line, high tailset, well bent stifle and powerful hind quarters giving good drive but slightly wide coming back, dark, harsh jacket, well presented and handled. 2. Turner’s Crillee Carry On The Legend, a dog of good substance who presents a stylish profile, impressive head with long foreface, used his ears well, alert and on his toes, strong neck, good lay of shoulder, slightly shorter in body than 1, tail set and bend of stifle OK, needs to settle down on the move 1. Brown’s Ch Jokyl Daily Special JW, there is nothing flashy or overdone about this dog, masculine and of good substance without a trace of coarseness, balanced and sound, excels in head, well constructed throughout with a perfectly level short back, best possible profile held perfectly on the move, precise and controlled parallel front movement and rear drive, best mover today, steady temperament, calm but still ready for anything, CC, BOB, shortlisted in the group. 2. Callon & Callon-Winn’s Ch Russtam Jax The Gentleman, this dog presents a startling profile with a very long strong neck, a short level back, a high tail set and very well bent stifles, head of adequate length with parallel planes, good depth of body, well ribbed up, short coupled, just not quite so steady on the move as 1, RCC. 3. Von Koch’s Multi Ch Big Lady’s Lion King, a happy and confident dog of good overall proportions, reasonable head but ears a little high, strong neck flowing into a short level back , superb tail set and hind quarters, moved OK in both front and rear. 1. Fearnhead’s Singrett Just An Illusion At Settlebeck, attractive, balanced bitch, neat and tidy throughout, moved very well, steady temperament. 2. Eastall’s Brisline’s Born In The Usa For Daedal (Imp USA) SHCM VW, solid bitch of substance, moved and showed well, not quite the construction of 1 1. Lee’s Jolliver Joy Ride To Stargus, mature and attractive puppy, stands well, super head, correct ear carriage well used, expressive eye, good lay of shoulder, dead level topline, mature body for age, tail on top and good rear angulation, happy and confident, needs to settle down on the move. 2. Richardson’s Airechen Savanna, a confident and feminine puppy bitch, good head proportions, dark eye, straight front, shoulder well laid back, very well developed body for age, tail set OK, strong hindquarters with good bend of stifle, top line rising slightly to rear, moved OK, well presented. 3. Grappin’s Alagaesia Under The Sky, a very impressive balanced puppy, well developed, good substance throughout but still feminine, preferred movement of 2. 1. Salti’s The Tempress Di Casa Saltitiziana, compact bitch with a pleasing outline, alert and showing well, good head and expression, straight front, short level back and short in couplings, excels in hindquarters with high tailset and extremely good rear angulation, moved OK. 2. Grappin’s Alagaesia Under The Sky, bitch of substance but not coarse, very long head, small eye, correct ear carriage, long neck, straight front, longer cast in body, preferred hindquarters of 1, moved OK. 3. Graham’s Shadlian Heavens Dream At Thistleaire, one I have long admired, all the essentials are there, sound and free moving, lovely temperament, unfortunately slightly lacking in body at the moment which spoils the picture. 1. Toulson’s Toulsyork Tiger Lily, compact bitch showing a square profile, refined head , small dark eye, good ear carriage, super hard expression, dead level topline, excellent construction of hindquarters giving good rear drive, harsh coat immaculately presented. 2. Shield’s Shielmarsh Fortuna Forseer, I have previously admired this bitch, stylish, with a super long head, excellent straight front, well constructed throughout, effortless movement, nice temperament, well presented, I would like to see her carrying more body weight to finish her off. 3. Rust’s Jokyl Power Lady, good all round bitch with just the right amount of substance, long head, hard expression, well constructed throughout, slightly untidy on the move which affected her profile. 1. Turner’s Ch Crillee Carry On Party Baby, the perfect female counterpart to the dog winner, a quality bitch with no exaggerations, ideal size and substance, feminine with an appealing profile held on the move, balanced and sound, excellent head, keen expression, well laid back shoulder, level top line, short coupled, strong hindquarters, moving correctly fore and aft, steady temperament, did everything that was required and didn’t put a foot wrong, BCC & RBOB. 2.
