I would like to thank the Airedale exhibitors for their entries with special thanks to those who attended despite the dire warnings on social media and in the press and my super efficient stewards who kept everything running so smoothly. I was extremely pleased with my 2 top winners, in the challenge the quality was so very close, A matching pair!
Just a couple of things I would like to mention in general, the first is the trend to strip out the jacket way too short and remove all traces of undercoat. The Airedale is a double coated breed and the undercoat should be visible when the top coat is lifted, on many of the exhibits I was unable to ascertain whether the animal had the correct coat or whether it was single coated I therefore presumed the latter and judged accordingly. I would like to see a move back to leaving a good hard half inch of top coat and less raking out of the undercoat. I was also concerned about movement, particularly very loose front movement in many of the exhibits which seemed to be caused by the front being a little too wide, rear movement was average but many of the exhibits lacked muscle tone which affected their ability to drive.

1st RUS CH RUS KORNELS SIMVOL POBEDY (MR S E NIKULIN). Solid, masculine very showy 8 year old. Correct head and dentition, slight stop, neat dark eye. Used his ears well which gave him a true terrier expression. Strong neck into well laid shoulder, short back. Level topline, held on the move. Very well ribbed up. Rear end nicely angulated, very good muscle tone. Covered the ground well BV
2nd SHERIFS RED HOT SHCM (MISS E R WEBBER) Cobby dog again with excellent muscle tone. Correct mouth, nice eye, straight front. Shoulders OK, good length of neck, short back, ribs well rounded, nice tuck. Tailset and rear angulation good. Moved with drive. Handled and presented really well. Close decision between 1 & 2
3rd SAFFRONSTARS'S STARGAZER SHCM (MRS & MR WENDELBERGER-JAMES & JAMES) 11 year old grizzle dog, nicely presented, dark eye, good clean mouth. Obviously really enjoying his day out.
Puppy - Dog 2 Abs: 0
1st SHERIFS RED DEVIL (MR M & MR D HACKER & JENKINS) 9m old and very confident. Typical of his age in that he is rangy but does show promise. Nicely balanced head, dark eye, ears nicely set, correct mouth Good length of neck, clean front., Level topline which he held on the move. Shown in excellent condition.
2nd CWMPLENTYN JACK OF HEARTS (MRS L SIMPSON-JONES). 9m Different type. Balanced head,good mouth, dark eye, ears set and used nicely. Level topline, Movement a little loose but that’s understandable. Preferred front of the winner
Junior - Dog 3 Abs: 1
1st SAREDON JP MASTERPIECE (MR J & MR A AVERIS & BARKER) Stylish young dog who deserved his BOB award today. Lovely long lean balanced head sharp, varminty expression. Correct almond shaped dark eye, little stop, correct bite, used and carried his ears perfectly. Clean straight front, tight feet. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Short back, ribs well sprung, good tuck. Level topline moving and standing. Well muscled and angulated quarters, tail on top, lots behind. Moved well fore and aft. Handled and presented as only this kennel can. Looking forward to watching this youngster go from stunning to stallion! DCC & BOB
2nd RUS KORNELS SUPER PAREN J CH RUS (MR S E NIKULIN) Heavier type to winner. Good mouth, nice dark eye, good length of neck into well laid shoulder, short back, tail on top. Well ribbed up. Nicely angulated rear. Moved with drive, but taken a little too fast to assess properly.

1st SINGRETTS PLAYING WITH FIRE (MRS J K GRIFFITHS) This was a difficult class to judge as the quality of the exhibits was even, I made my final decision on movement Balanced head, correct mouth, dark eye, ears set and used to advantage, adequate neck, shoulders OK. Ribs well sprung, good tuck. Hard coat of good colour. Handled well
2nd WEDERDENA'S STARGAZER (MR M MILKOVICS) Nice dark eye, ears set and carried well, Longer cast than 1. Presentation needs to be improved.
3rd CRILLEE CARRY ON THE CRUSADE AT BRULYN (MR P & MRS L DOWN) Balanced head, Correct mouth, dark eye, slight stop. Shoulders OK. Level topline, longer cast than the other two. A little wide in front.
Limit - Dog 4 Abs: 1
1st JOKYL DRAW THE LINE JW (MR B & MRS L PURCHON) Clean well balanced head, dark eye, ears set and used well, Straight front. Good length of neck into nicely laid shoulders, level topline, ribs well sprung with adequate tuck. Short back, level topline Would like a higher tail set to complete the picture. Shown in excellent condition handled and moved well
2nd MICHAEL MICHI ADIA AVI (MRS RUCKOVA) Solid masculine dog, Correct mouth, dark eye, a little heavy in head and neck. Erratic front movement. Adequate shoulder placement, short back, tail set good but very loose when moving, plenty behind. Ribs well rounded but would like more tuck. Well muscled thighs, good rear propulsion
Open – Dog 9 Abs: 2
1st RUS CH RUS KORNELS KOROL VIVAT (MR S E NIKULIN) Quality class and the first three could change places at any time. Strong, masculine dog shown and handled very well. Long well balanced head, dark almond eye, ears set and used to his advantage. I would like to see less facial furnishing to enhance the clean lines. Good length of neck, straight front, well laid shoulder, short level topline, excellent tail set and rear angulation. RDCC
2nd INT CH/MULTI CH KATHERINE'S LAND VIP LOVER (MR D E ABLARD) Similar type to 1 . Good balanced head but not as clean as the winner, dark eye, good mouth, slight stop, Ears a little erratic on the move. Strong neck, clean front, level topline. Adequate angulation at the rear, Excellent presentation and handling. Moved and showed well
3rd CH CRILLEE MAXIMUS THE COOL (MR R I & MRS J B TURNER) Different type to the others but a very good example of the breed. Balanced head, dark eye, keen expression. Good length of neck, level topline, tail on top. Nicely ribbed up with a very good tuck. Lovely outline standing but front movement let him down. In excellent condition

2nd SAREDON LORELLI (Ms FURY) Stylish, well presented 9 year old. Clean balanced head Correct dark, almond shaped eyes, neat ears, used well, good length of neck, shoulder OK, clean front, short level topline, held on the move. Nicely handled and presented. Best mover in this class.
3rd INT CH RUS KORNELS ERIKA ZOLOTAYA (P KAZANTSEVA) Different type in that she is a much heavier boned bitch. Balanced head, good mouth, dark eye, ears carried and set well. Good neck. Shoulders OK, level topline, Nicely angulated at the rear. Moved well

Well set ears, Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Level topline, Nicely angulated, tail set and carried well. Shown in good coat and condition.BPIB
2nd SMOCKALLEY SURPRISE CATCH (MRS J EDWARDS) Very close decision here, very feminine pup. Excellent head, good mouth, correct dark almond shaped eye, giving her the true Airedale expression. Long neck into good shoulders, level topline. Just a little longer cast than the winner. Nicely handled and presented
3rd MULIEBRITY STARGAZER AT SINGRETT (MRS J K GRIFFITHS) Similar type to second. Balanced head, level planes, very feminine. Correct dentition. Good eye, slight stop, ears a little low but used well. Adequate neck into nicely placed shoulder, level topline. Straight front, nicely ribbed and tucked. Showed well
Junior - Bitch 3 Abs: 0
1st RUS KORNELS STATNAYA KRASAVITSA (MRS E, MR S & MISS V N NIKULINY & SOLDATOVA) Cobby mature youngster. Balanced head, dark eye, correct mouth. Used her ears well, straight front, Adequate neck into very good shoulders and short back. Rib cage well rounded, nicely tucked. Lovely rear angulation with well muscled quarters. Moved with drive but the overall picture was spoilt by very loose tail carriage.
2nd JOKYL STAR BURST (MRS M SWASH) Lovely feminine head, level planes and well balanced, dark eye, good bite, slight stop. Correct ear set and carriage. Elegant neck flowing into good shoulders, short level topline. Well sprung ribs, nicely tucked. Shown in tip top condition. I just preferred the rear movement of the winner.
3rd RUS KORNELS SUPERMODEL(P KAZANTSEVA) Heavier type than the other two , Head balanced but a little strong, dark eye, good bite. Adequate neck into good shoulders, level topline. Ribs well sprung, adequate tuck. Again movement was spoiled by the loose tail carriage.
Post Graduate - Bitch 13 Abs: 0 Very strong class.
1st SAREDON HEAD TURNER (MISS N BETTS) Long, feminine head, well balanced, Good mouth, correct dark almond shaped eye, clean front, Good length of neck flowing into well placed shoulders, short back, well blown rib cage, nicely tucked. Good rear muscle tone, neat feet. Shown in excellent condition. Moved very well. Never took her eye off her owner and responded throughout.
2nd KAOLIN LITTLE MISS SPARKLE (MISS E R WEBBER) Quality bitch. Feminine head, dark eye, correct dentition. Ears set and used well, clean front, adequate neck into well placed shoulders. Level topline, tail on top. Nicely angulated rear. A little longer cast than 1. Neat feet. Shown in excellent condition and handled well. I preferred the eye of the winner
3rd VIVAVICK AD LIBITUM (MRS B HALY) Gained her place on movement although she would benefit from less furnished on the hocks. Stylish bitch, level head, dark eye, good mouth, ears used throughout. Good length of neck. Well sprung ribs, good tuck.

1st RUSSTAM CHERRY BEE (MRS J & MRS L CALLON & CALLON-WINN) Long, well balanced head, no coarseness at all, slight stop, dark almond eye, ears correct shape and size and used all the time giving her a true terrier expression but retaining her femininity. Good length of neck which flowed into well laid shoulders and a very short back, Tail bang on top. Good rear angulation, moved very well. I have admired this bitch from ringside and she didn’t disappoint. Very feminine, elegant outline both standing and moving. Presented and handled very well.BCC ( I understand her third)
2nd CRILLEE WHAT A CARRY ON AT SHERIFS (MR M & MR D HACKER & JENKINS) In excellent condition, especially as she is the dam of my puppy dog winner. Well balanced head, dark eye, good mouth. Adequate neck, shoulders OK. Longer cast than 1. Good rib cage, nicely tucked. Well presented and handled.
3rd VIVAVICK WHOOPEE AT SMOCKALLEY (MRS J EDWARDS) Heavier type Long head, a little cheeky, dark eye, good mouth. Clean front. Level topline. Well muscled, moved OK.

Extremely strong class of quality bitches. Top places could change at any time, the deciding factor between the first 3 was the final sparkle.
1st MULIEBRITY SUN KISSED (MISS D & MISS T K HAMPTON & HALL) Elegant, showy bitch, Long head, well balanced, Correct mouth, neat dark eye, Ears set and used correctly, sharp expression all the time she was in the ring. Clean front, Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, short level topline, nice amount behind the tail, moved well. Very good presentation and handling. RBCC
2nd CH CRILLEE CARRY ON MAYBE BABY (MR R I & MRS J B TURNER) Lovely bitch, Long lean balanced head, good mouth, Correct ear set and carriage, Elegant neck into well placed shoulder, level topline, well sprung ribs, would like a little more tuck. Neat feet, Good rear movement. Preferred the eye of the winner.
3rd JOKYL NOBLE PRINCESS FOR OCEANAIRE SHCM (MR D & MRS J M BROWN) Good sized bitch, feminine head, dark eye, correct mouth, Lovely length of neck flowing into good shoulder placement, Level topline, both standing and moving. Clean front, good rounded ribcage, well tucked. Nicely muscled and angulated quarters. Shown in excellent condition.
