AIREDALE CRUFTS 13 Airedale Terrier Judge(s): MRS B M SHURVINTON Airedale Terriers Firstly, many thanks to all exhibitors who chose to come under me & secondly thank you to my stewards who made the judging go like clockwork. Movement is again one of the main issues with the Airedale at the moment some dogs do not seem to know how to walk correctly whether through lack of exercise or not being properly trained on the lead when walking, a lot of front movement is very erratic, presentation on the whole was good & pleased to see only one bad mouth. VD (3) 1 Jackson & Swash’s Ch Jokyl Captain Scarlet, now 7 years but still in fine form, good long head, super ears, good shoulders with level back, tail on top, strong coat, moved well enough to be awarded RCC; 2 Maupied’s Fr/Int Ch American Gigolo Du Clos De Clairdouet, 8 years, fair length of head, carrying a little too much weight. Good colour, movement fair; 3 Chadwick’s Shadlian Loveable Tyke at Aggello, 9 years, nice head, used ears, dipped a little in back, moved fair. PD (3) 1 Edwards’ Smockalley The Joker, good length of head, used ears, adequate neck, level back, good bend of stifle. Needs to settle in front movement which I hope will come with maturity; 2 Toulson’s Toulsyork Fisty Filbert, slightly stronger in head than 1 but good eye & ears, level back, good coat. Needs to tighten up in front movement which I hope will come with age. On another day could change places; 3 Turner’s Crillee Cool Raider, fair length of head used his ears, good shoulders. Just lacked in maturity against 1 & 2, movement again needs to settle which I hope it does with time. JD (2) 1 Nikuliny & Soldatova’s Rus Kornels Simvol Pobedy, long head, good eye, used his ears, straight front, level back, good tailset, good coat & colour, moved freely; 2 Quinton’s Autograph Simply The Best, could do with more finer trimming but out for the day & happy. PGD (10) 1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Star Turn, upstanding, lovely head, super ears which he used, straight front, level back, good coat & colour, moved well; 2 Chadwick’s Shadlian Fields Of Gold at Aggello, good head, dark eye, nice ears. Tail set could be better, neat feet, did enough to give him second place; 3 Acton’s Jantaradon He’s The Wizard, slightly courser head, dark eye, trimmed well, moved OK. LD (6) 1 Brown’s Oceanaire Beachcomber, long head, good earset, straight front, level topline, good tailset, nice angulation, moved & showed well; 2 Gregg’s Bambusa Most Noble, upstanding dog, long head, dark eye, good ears, straight front. Just did not have that appeal & showmanship about him. Moved OK; 3 Noyce’s Black Prince, smaller type overall, adequate head, level back, moved OK. OD (10) 1 Kilsdonk’s Van Devil VT Seebosch, he arrived in the ring like he owned it, super head, dark eye, good ears, straight front, well laid back shoulders, level topline with tail on top, good bend of stifle, lovely neat feet, good coat & colour, was truly the king of the ring. CC & BOB; 2 Nikuliny & Soldatova’s Rus/Fin/Blr/Rom/Lit/Lat/Est Ch Rus Kornels Ladny Paren, another nice dog with pleasing head, dark eye, good front, level back, good rear angulation, but 1 was superior; 3 Toulson’s Ch Toulsyork Delfy Dexter, another good dog all round with no outstanding faults. GCD (2) 1 Moore’s Nedella Sparks In The Park at Arngask, hope he had a good day & did enough to win his class; 2 Wendelberger-James & James’ Saffronstars’s Stargazer, did not seem to be enjoying his day out but did everything that was asked of him. VB (2) 1 Bullard’s Tiberetta Chelsea Bridge, 7 years, still got a good black jacket, good shoulders, level back, was happy here, moved well; 2 Banks’ Willowaire Lexicon Of Love, 11 years but still had that glint in her eye, did not want to play but still lovely. PB (7) 1 Fernandez & Purnell’s Muliebrity Rilletta, lovely puppy, long head, good dark eye, was alert & used her ears, good neck, straight front, level short back, tail on top good feet, lovely coat & colour, moved well. She & her handler worked well together & should have a bright future. BP; 2 Hampton & Hall’s Muliebrity Oceana, litter sister to 1, slightly coarser in head, but good eye & ears, level topline & good tailset, moved well. No doubt they will change places in the year to come; 3 Baker’s Jokyl Bright Star, slightly finer all round, lovely head & shoulders, good coat & colour. Just needs a little more weight & time to mature. JB (4) 1 Turner’s Crillee Carry On Baby, good head, well placed ears, straight front, nice shoulders. Needs to tighten up in front on the move; 2 Nikulina’s Rus Kornels Sama Dragotsennost, finer than 1, shorter in head, level back, tail on top, moved OK; 3 Steinke’s Temtiz African Flame Lily, her heart was not in it here so did not help her handler. PGB (16) 1 Keay’s Jaymitch Gift Before Dawn, quality bitch with small dark eye, well placed ears giving a good expression, nice shoulders, straight front, level back with tail on top, good angulation & neat feet, moved well when she put her mind to it; 2 McCallum’s Ladsacres April Love with Glentops, thicker set than 1, good dark eye, used her ears, level back, good tailset & rear angulation, moved fair; 3 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Starlet, pretty girl, a little hesitant, was not really enjoying herself, moved fair. LB (7) 1 Johnstone’s Jecadie Dipped In Spice, not a big bitch but good head & ears, adequate neck, short level back, good coat & colour, lovely feet, moved well; 2 Haly’s Vivavick’s The Royal We, longer cast than 1, fair head, dark eye, neat ears, no outstanding faults, moved fair; 3 Ablard’s Russtam Star Attraction, nice bitch with fair length of head, level back with tail on top, good coat & colour, moved OK. OB (13) 1 Nikulina & Ryabina’s Rus Ch Rus Kornels Luchshaya Vsegda, she came in the ring with elegance, long head, lovely eye, well set ears which she used all the time, good length of neck, straight front, level back with tail on top, good rear angulation, did not stop showing all the time that she was in the ring, moved well. If I have to be critical I would have liked a finer shoulder. CC; 2 Jackson & Swash’s Ch Jokyl Time To Party, another quality bitch with lovely head, well placed ears, long neck, level topline, moved well. Preferred the femininity of 1; 3 Averis’ Saredon Taste Of Honey, lovely head, dark eye & good ears, elegant neck, level topline. Looked bloated due to being in season which spoiled the overall picture. GCB (4) 1 M Rilletta; 2 Edington-Hall’s Wendaire Jokers Angels Kiss, a little course in head, longer cast than 1. Good coat & colour, moved well; 3 Fury’s Saredon Lorelli, another nice looking bitch who did everything that was asked of her. BARBARA SHURVINTON |
