AIREDALE JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 23

I enjoy judging the breed and there were some lovely quality exhibits. It was a pity that we were in a ring which had grates under the carpeting which unsettled some dogs on the move - and the puppies were especially affected by it, I thought the bitch line up was strong in depth, many thanks to my stewards Tony and Cathy Jenkins.

PD 1(0)

1. Knights/Stokes/Steinke’s Temtiz Buzz Lightyear at Lelaps. 10 months who looks smart when stacked but overawed by noise and the grates under the carpeting so not settled to move well, he has potential once he gains confidence.

JD 3(0)

1. Toulson’s Toulsyork Taylor Made. 15 months, high quality dog of lovely proportions, top-line and tail set, clean head with powerful foreface, a little loose in elbow yet but I liked him a lot and scored in tail set and top-line here, looked very well presented in crisp coat, should have a good future.

2. Turner’s Crillee Carry On The Legend. 16 months, smart dog with very good coat texture, clean shoulders and good rear, carried himself well, I preferred the tail set of the winner.

3. Fury’s Saredon The Hustle.

PGD 3(1)

1. Hacker/Jenkins’ Muliebrity Blue Beret at Sherifs. 2 year old, all male and without coarseness, long clean head, ears could be tidier, short back with good ribcage, he would benefit from less hair on his front legs which makes him look wide in front which he is not, good top-line and tail, carried himself well, a quality dog.

2. Fearnhead’s Settlebeck Royal Flush. 15 months old, a teenager in body yet but he has a good frame which will fill out with maturity, very good quarters, tends to roach his back standing but relaxes on the move, to the cleanest of head of the winner.

OD 4(0)

1. Callon/Callon Winn’s Ch. Russtam Jag The Gentleman. 3 year old, a real stallion look about him, short backed and with good rib and depth and excellent top-line, he has clean head and scored in length of foreface for me, uses his hocks well, excellent neck and shoulder, DCC & BOB and shortlisted in the group.

2. Brown’s Ch. Jokyl Daily Special JW. 2 year old, another top quality dog with short back and excellent short coupled body, he has excellent ribs where he scored over the winner, excellent clean skull, went well - made this a very close decision, I felt that the winner had a little more reach in front going round but I was very happy to judge this quality class, RDCC.

3. Toulson’s Ch. Toulsyork Sequel.

GCD 1(0)

1. Fury’s Saredon The Hustle. 16 months, third in the junior class, squarely built with good leg length, he is a little upright in front, moves well, needs to fill out in body, I liked his clean head and good length of muzzle, owner has him nicely presented and the dog is full of confidence.

SBB 1(0)

1. Wendelberger-James’ Temtiz Hope Mit Saffronstars. 10 months bitch, full of confidence and moving well, she is a little long in the loin and her top-line and tail set could be better, good ribcage and coat texture, feminine head, ear can settle, great temperament which won her BP later, BSpB.

VB 2(0)

Two bitches who are a great credit to breed and owners.

1. Eastall’s Brisline’s Born In The USA for Daedal (imp USA) VW. 10 years old, looked a picture and presented to perfection, great ribs, body, top-line and movement, strong head but excellent expression and very good movement, BV.

2. Edington-Hall’s Wendaire Kissed By An Angel JW ShCM ShCEx. Almost 8 years, a little longer for balance than the winner and this shows occasionally in her top-line, very good movement, more feminine in her head than the winner but I preferred balance of the winner today.

PB 3(1)

1. Wendelberger-James’ Temtiz Hope Mit Saffronstars. Repeat.

2. Steinke’s Temtiz Miss Prim and Proper. 10 months and would have done better if she had settled to let me handle her, she moved soundly and has good proportions - I hope she will gain in confidence as she has promise - her young handler did a good job, this was a noisy hall for youngsters just starting their careers and the noise of the grates unsettled them.

JB 3(1)

1. Turner’s Crillee Carry On Party Baby. 17 months, beautiful type and movement and she has a wonderful long clean head with strength in foreface, good ears, dark eyes which could be a little smaller, hard top-line and good tail set, a very good prospect, later won RCC when I learned that she already has her title - so yes - she is a good prospect!! RBCC & BJ.

2. Blackburn’s Lumosadie Scarlet Phoenix. 15 months, another quality bitch of good proportions, good head and eye but couldn’t match the winner for skull and length of muzzle, loved her quarters, good turn of stifle and same width to upper and lower thigh which was lacking in some, went well.

PGB 5(1)

1. Toulson’s Toulsyork Tiger Lilly. 15 months, a teenager in the body but she has lovely type and scored convincingly in her beautiful head, eye and ears, can fill out yet in body, but top-line and tail set are excellent and holds her shape on the move, I think she will have a good career.

2. Richardson’s Muliebrity Ripples with Airechien. 23 months, a stronger bitch who had much to commend her, more mature in body than the winner, sound movement, not quite the tail set of winner, a touch strong in head and can be neater in ears - but she has a lot to commend her.

3. Eastall’s Daedal Frozen In Time (AI).

LB 3(2)

1. Hampton/Hall’s Miliebrity Summer Sun. 3 year old feminine bitch with a good outline and has excellent neck and clean shoulders and good front, she needs more rib and body and a little more coat, has the framework which now needs to be filled, very good head piece.
OB 5(1)

1. Underwood’s Ch. Jokyl Rising Star. Looked a picture and caught my eye immediately, 3 years, lovely type and won on her ribs and substance, clean head, but ears could be neater, accurate movement but did not like the grates under the carpet but regained her composure, she is ultra sound and presented to perfection, BCC.

2. Ablard’s Ch. Jaydavine Story of Love. 2 years, elegant bitch who is still not mature in ribcage, lovely head and ears, not the rib of winner whose tail I prefer, good quarters and movement.

3. Hampton/Hall’s Muliebrity Ocean Bay.

GCB 2(0)

1. Wendelberger-James’ Temtiz Hope Mit Saffronstars. Who had a good day, I hope her owner enjoyed the experience.
