AIREDALE JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 10

I was pleased to find that all the Airedales had sound temperaments, good mouths and mostly in good condition.
I was however amazed to have dogs with velvet finishes on shoulders, rib cages, sides of heads and ears instead of the hard wiry feel that is the correct finish, this hardness can only be achieved by hand stripping,
razors and clippers ruin the final presentation.
I would like to thank the majority of exhibitors for their hard work prior to the show.

Puppy Dog (3,1ab)

1.Brown’s Oceanaire Beachcomber, Nice size puppy dog still very much a baby but happy and confident. Balanced head, flat skull, ears carried and used well. Good bone, straight front. Coat coming through well, furnishing need more time, adequate neck into good shoulders, short back, good tailset. Nice rear angulations. Movement loose but has plenty of time to tighten. Hopefully will mature slowly but surely. Well presented and handled

2.Moore’s Jokyl Time After Time. Longer cast and more mature than one, Lean head, ears set OK but not used to his advantage. Good spring of rib, level topline, coat in good order, Nicely presented and handled.

Junior Dog (2, 0abs)

1.Morris’ Nedella A Kind Of Magic. Solid, well muscled dog in excellent coat and condition. Masculine head, dark eye, good ear carriage. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, short back, tail on top. Harsh coat, excellent spring of rib. Moved and showed well. Different trimming could improve his topline

2.Hampton & Hall’s Mulbriety Grandioso. First impression of this very flashy, showy young dog was good; he has an excellent neck into well placed shoulders, short back, level topline, good tailset and rear angulations.
He also has an excellent attitude to showing. On closer examination I found his skull could be flatter and more strength of foreface would balance the length. Ears placed and used well. Front movement was erratic due to quite a wide front. Hand stripping would improve coat texture.

Post Graduate Dog (1,0abs)

1. Eastall & Davey’s Daedel Hi Mister Webster ShCm. Honest, cobby masculine dog in excellent condition. Hard coat, well presented, good colour. Balanced head, dark eye, correct ear carriage, straight front. Adequate neck into well placed shoulders, level topline standing and moving, well muscled quarters. Moved and showed well.

1.Callon & Callon-Wynn’s Sonorra Jackson At Russtam. Would have like a little more rear angulation to complete the picture. In good coat and condition.

2.McCallum’s Glentop Hugh Bett. Honest type, everything on this boy fitted together well, Masculine head, good eye, used his ears well, adequate neck into good shoulders, short back, well sprung ribs, good tuck. Good rear angulations and muscle tone. Lovely hard coat in good condition. His exuberance made his movement impossible to assess.
