NORWICH JUDGE WINDSOR 10

Norwich Terriers

Windsor is always such a lovely show & it was enhanced by perfect weather this year. I thought the Norwich were able to show to best advantage in a large ring on short grass. I had some good Terriers to go over; maybe not the superstar of my previous judging appointment, but nevertheless there is quality about.

I would just like to say that it is readily apparent those who put the effort into grooming & conditioning their dogs on a regular basis.

PD (4,2a)

1 Crawley’s Ragus Devine Devil, the type you think of when you think Norwich Terrier, strong head, broad & with the correct stop & broad muzzle, big teeth, good layback of shoulder, short coupled & straight front. Moved well, to be critical would like him to lose a bit of weight, as he comes out of puppy hood;

2 Ostermann & Smith’s Tirio Londons Porter, less together than 1, would like to see this one carrying a little more weight. Pleasing head & expression. Moved enthusiastically, still a little loose in front.

JD (4,1)

1 Crawley’s Ragus Jazz King, masculine dog with very good head & large teeth, fabulous coat in both texture & trim, showed & moved well, alert & sound. Would prefer him just a little shorter in back, however he is still young & better balance may come as he deepens in chest. RCC;

2 Norrey’s Fleurnor Snap Dragon, pleasing head, large teeth, well balanced with short back, good front & shoulders. Moved well in front, but not so strong behind;

3 Crawley & Downie’s Demerlay American Boy.

PGD (3,2)

1 Higgit’s Redash Clock This, couldn’t help thinking that this is a better dog than the trimming or the handler would have you believe. Good head & bite, good reach of neck & well laid shoulders. Not moved to best advantage, but even so a little weak behind.

LD (3,2)

1 Kirkpatrick’s Tynallt Trouble Shooter, good overall type with pleasing head & good bite, short back & well muscled hindquarters. Showed well, but moved a little wide in front.

OD (4)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Top Of The Morning, masculine dog of good type & well constructed, beautiful head, broad skull, good stop, dark eye, excellent reach of neck running into well laid shoulders, a very nice dog to go over. A sound mover, sometimes a tad diffident, but pulled himself together in the challenge. CC & BOB; 2 Crawley’s Brickin Ready To Rumble at Ragus, a very nicely constructed dog with lovely neck & shoulders, short coupled, strong hindquarters, moved well. Felt he did not have the maturity of 1; 3 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Crème Brulee.

PB (7,2)

1 Crawley’s Ragus Lookin’ Rosy, feminine & full of herself, loved her type & her construction, good head, neck & shoulders, straight front, short back & strong hindquarters, moved soundly & showed well, what more could you ask. BP & RCC;

2 Watkin’s Baktwins Dream Summer, assertive puppy who carries herself very well & makes the most of herself on the move. Well constructed on the whole, but could do with a touch more weight & more furnishings to improve the picture;

3 Smith & Crawley’s Ragus Cool Jazz.

JB (1)

1 Corkhill’s Redash Cherry Ripe, short backed bitch of good type, pleasing head with good stop, sound & animated on the move. To be critical would like her to carry a touch more weight to complete the picture.

PGB (3,1)

1 Needham’s Titanium Pop Goes The Weasel, soundly made bitch, well muscled & this showed on the move, very hard coated, that is desirable in some ways, but does not enhance some of her features & means less furnishings, particularly on muzzle & legs. However her overall balance & construction won her the class;

2 Wilson’s Sheltrice High Hopes, showed well, moved better in front than behind, broad head but lacking in stop. Good reach of neck & well laid shoulders.

LB (3)

1 Lazenby’s Ragus Diamonds Only, showy bitch that responded so well to her handler, felt she was really enjoying herself, good head & expression, well balanced, short back, sound on the move;

2 Griffin’s Brenin Summer Gold with Burlmere, a very good bitch to go over, having both excellent type & sound construction, one of the best heads of the bitches on the day & a great bite. However, she is carrying far too much weight that compromises her on the move & she appears a reluctant showgirl. I hope she can do some calorie counting & fulfill her potential;

3 Norrey’s Fleurnor Caillan Blaa.

OB (3)

1 Crawley & Jones’ Ragus Forever Amber, lovely type in beautiful coat & condition, trimmed to perfection, well balanced with good reach of neck & short back, excellent head & expression, very sound mover that flows along effortlessy, always keeping her topline. CC;

2 Corkhill’s Redash Clementine, I was very impressed with this bitch because she is both sound & of good type, moved very well & seemed to be really enjoying herself. I thought her overall picture would be better with less length of ruff & less volume of coat on her hindquarters;

3 Martin’s Baktwins Follow That Dream.
