A lovely class to start the day with three quality youngsters, all of which should go on to do very well.
1. Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Total Eclipse. Just coming up to 7 mths, I thought this red wheaten a delightful pup and he has the best of temperaments. He appealed for overall type, presented a compact outline and was so good to go over. Quality head with good breadth of skull, ears set well apart, correct skull to muzzle proportions, dark oval-shaped eyes, wedge-shaped muzzle and correct scissor bite. Neck of good length, nice short back, firm topline, ribbed well back, short loin and tail set high although carriage could be better. Soundly constructed all through with nice straight forelegs, elbows held close to the body, cat-like feet and firm, muscular rear with nice bend of stifle. Moving true and with purpose. Best Puppy Dog & RCC.
2. Mason’s Ragus Mark My Words to Glenhafod. Black & Tan just shy of 7 months and larger all round than the winner. He also pleased for type and is carrying good bone. Masculine head of good proportions and most attractive expression; dark, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on well apart, well defined stop and correct dentition. Strong neck of good length to balance, short back, topline needs to settle, good length to ribcage, short muscular loin and tail set on nice and high and of good carriage. He stands nice and straight in front on correct feet and is correctly angulated in the rear. Moving straight on the down and back but not quite the profile action of the winner. Jacket of good texture.

1. Mason’s Ragus Mark My Words to Glenhafod
2. Page’s Contilly Ask No Questions between Winflash. 11 mth wheaten of completely different type to the winner, higher on the leg and at the teenager stage but even so has much to like. Nicely proportioned head with good breadth to his slightly rounded skull, defined stop, ears set well apart but slightly bigger than those of 1, oval-shaped eyes of good colour, wedge-shaped muzzle and good dentition. Balanced outline with neck of good length, level topline, well sprung ribs which extend well back, firm loin and tail of good set but a tad shorter. Front not that of winner standing but moving well enough all through and moving out in profile and making the most of himself as he goes. Good coat texture. Well handled.

1. Crawley & Baldwin’s Ragus Time Of My Life. Two very different dogs here and the winner was this 16 mth red who was the more compact of the pair and certainly a lively character. Neck of good length, short level back, excellent ribbing, short muscular loin and tail set on high but carried tighter than preferred. Attractive head with nice breadth to skull, good proportions, dark expressive eyes, ears set on well, strong muzzle and correct scissor bite. Well constructed both front and rear, standing nice and straight in front, elbows held close to the body and muscular hindquarters with good turn of stifle. Moving freely and driving well from the rear. Excellent coat.
2. Ackling & Dingle’s Kreatin Extra Factor. This 2 yr old red is another with lots to like. He has more ‘scope’ than the winner, with more neck and also a tad longer cast being a shade longer in loin. Head of good proportions with nice breadth to skull, well defined stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, ears of correct set, strong wedge-shaped muzzle and good mouth but overall I preferred the expression of 1. Firm, level topline, nice spring of rib and tail set on high. He stands nice and straight in front on good feet and is well muscled throughout. Not quite the profile or rear action of winner. Good quality coat and well handled.

1. Crawley & Oddie’s Ch Ragus The Jumping Jack. 17 mth red standing alone here but what a super boy he is! All male, carrying good bone and substance, of excellent type and presenting a compact outline and giving the impression of great strength throughout. Strong neck of good length to balance, nice short back with level topline, ribs well sprung and carried well back, short muscular loin and tail set on nice and high and of good carriage. Masculine head and expression with good breadth to his slightly rounded skull, well defined stop, correct skull to muzzle proportions, expressive oval-shaped eyes, ears of moderate size which are set well apart, wedge-shaped muzzle and correct dentition. He is so well made, stands foot perfect, well muscled throughout and certainly didn’t disappoint when gaiting; moving true on the down and back and a joy to watch on the go around, driving well from the rear and using himself to the max. Quality coat of excellent texture and presented in such good order. CC & BOB and ended the day by taking Group 3 in very good company.

1. Page’s Ragus Pardon My French avec Winflash. Black & Tan just coming up to 7 mths and very much a baby and in need of a little more confidence which should come with time. Feminine head which is still to fully develop but good skull to muzzle proportions, defined stop, dark oval-shaped eyes and correct dentition. Neck of good length, firm topline, ribcage extends well back and nice short loin. Her tail set and carriage was difficult to assess on the day. She stands nice and straight in front on good feet, elbows are held close to the body and firm rear with good turn of stifle. Moving well enough on the go around but pulling somewhat.

1. Crawley’s Ragus True Love Ways. 11 mth red who really is something special and should easily gain her crown. Feminine throughout, she presented a beautifully balanced outline and was a delight to go over. Quality headpiece with the best of expressions; nice breadth of skull, well defined stop, skull to muzzle proportions are just right, medium sized ears set on top of skull and well apart, dark oval-shaped eyes, wedge-shaped muzzle and correct scissor bite. Neck of good length, short back with firm level topline, ribbed well back and rib developing well for age, nice short loin and tail set on high. Faultless construction with straight well-boned forelegs, elbows close to the body, compact feet and firm hindquarters with good bend of stifle. Moving true both fore and aft, driving well from the rear with confident self carriage. Best Puppy & RCC.

1. Hayes’ Ragus Seven Jumps. Two quite different bitches challenged here and both are full of quality. The winner was this 17 mth old red and the larger of the two here. She pleased for type and was good to go over given her correct construction. Balanced in outline with strong neck of good length, level topline, nice spring of rib and ribcage extends well back, short loin and tail set on high and of good carriage. Nicely proportioned head with good width of skull, ears set on well apart, defined stop, dark expressive eyes, wedge-shaped muzzle and correct dentition. Straight forelegs, elbows close to the body and firm rear with well turned stifle. Moving so well in profile, nice and straight when coming at you and good enough when going away. Jacket of good texture.
2. Hitchen’s Kreatin Added Extra. 13 mth black & tan who appealed for overall type and femininity. Smaller and more compact than the winner and another who was nice to go over. Neck of good length, nice short back but topline not quite that of 1, excellent ribbing, short muscular loin and tail set on high. Most attractive head with broad, slightly rounded skull, well defined stop, correct proportions, ears set well apart and of correct size, dark oval-shaped eyes giving keen expression, wedge-shaped muzzle and correct scissor bite. She stands well in front on good feet and has a pleasing turn of stifle. Moving so well on the go around but could be better going away.

1. Stevenson’s Ch Brickin Chase A Rainbow. Three quite different bitches competed here and for me, this 2 yr old red was a standout. She excels for type, is compact and strong, carrying good bone and substance, yet retaining femininity throughout. Darling head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, nice breadth to skull, ears of medium size which are set well apart on top of skull, good stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, strong muzzle and correct scissor bite. Neck of good length to balance and flowing into well laid shoulders, short level back, first class ribbing, nice short loin and tail set on high but carried a little tighter than the ideal. Construction second to none with nice straight forelegs, elbows held close to the body, cat-like feet and firm, muscular hindquarters with good turn of stifle and low set hocks. Moving true on the down and back and a delight on the go around with confident self carriage. Absolutely full of mischief and a very well deserved CC winner here today.
2. Hitchen’s Ch Kreatin Extra Treat. 2 yr old wheaten and another quality girl and one who I did very well for as a puppy. She is such a good type, feminine throughout and so good to go over. I love her head and expression; broad, slightly rounded skull, defined stop, correct skull to muzzle ratio, the best of eyes and ears, strong wedge-shaped muzzle and correct dentition with nice big teeth. Balanced in outline with neck of good length, firm topline, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, short muscular loin and tail set on high. She stands nice and straight in front on good feet with elbows held close to the body. Moving well on the go around but winner had the edge when going away. Quality coat and presentation.
