NORWICH JUDGE SKC 14

Norwich Terriers

Although not a large entry I was pleased with the general quality & type & delighted with my winners. Hindquarters need watching, a lack of hind angulation means most did not move with drive from behind & one was so strait as to give a completely untypical rolling movement. Fronts generally were much better than previous times I have judged.

PD (3)

1 Oddie’s Ragus Pistols at Dawn, lovely puppy, moving really well today. Good width of skull, lovely small oval dark eye, correct bite, level topline, still needs to drop in body. Good bone. In rather short coat which accentuated his puppy immaturity but in excellent condition, best mover in the class. RCC, BP;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin Early Morning, another lovely puppy, lower to the ground than 1 but not the verve & in between coats. Outstanding head of correct proportions. Good bone & spring of rib, well carried tail;

3 Kell’s Amicaro Whisky Chaser.

JD (2,1a)

1 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Mr William, good head & typical expression, correct bite, short in back with a good spring of rib, in excellent coat. Prefer more hind angulation to give more typical movement. Well up to size. Very well carried short tail.

OD (3,2)

1 Brown’s Ragus The Devil Can Wait for Lastarean, quality, typy dog in fabulous coat of correct length. Very typical head, correct ear carriage & size, strong wedge shaped muzzle, good width of skull. Excellent bone & substance, low to ground, showing & moving out well, just could have more hind angulation. Well carried tail. Delighted to give him his 3rd CC & BOB.

PB (3,2)

1 Kerr’s Sweet Afton, happy puppy, showing well for her first time in the ring. In between coat. Good hindquarters, nice bone, correct scissor bite. Shoulders need more layback & head would benefit from a stronger muzzle & more stop, nice dark eye.

JB (3)

1 Phillips, Gullick & Tate’s Jaeva Shocking Pink, quality feminine wheaten bitch, very typical head, good dark eye & width of skull. Low to ground, cobby, compact & short backed. Won over 2 & RCC winner on bone, substance & spring of rib. Coat just hanging on. Moved out well although could have more hind angulation for more drive;

2 Baldwin’s Ragus My Fair Lady, another lovely typy Norwich, very feminine pretty bitch, well balanced & low to ground, good head proportions, slightly larger eye than 1, showed very well. Could have more spring of rib & hind angulation. Correct short back.

LB (3)

1 Stevenson’s Paper Chase at Brickin, 12 months b/t & still immature but moving & showing well. Nice bone, in short coat which accentuated her immaturity but time should resolve that. Correct dark small oval eye, width of skull OK, could have more stop. Short back, well laid shoulders;

2 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Primrose Petal, not the eye of 1, good scissor bite, low to ground but longer back than 1. More hind angulation would give more drive on the move. Won over 3 who was too low to the ground although better head type;

3 Kell’s Amicaro Jubilympia.

OB (3)

1 Hitchen’s Ch Kreatin Hidden Gem, another very typical well balanced b/t Norwich, very feminine, low to ground, short & compact, lovely head, strong muzzle, good stop, good width of skull & set of ears, well sprung ribs. Would prefer more oval eye. Moved well in front, more hind angulation would give more drive. RCC;

2 Robberts & Murray’s Mindlen Mischief, a b/t bitch I have admired before, in excellent coat, not as low to ground as 1 & not the spring of rib, however she moved very well in front, again not the hind angulation required for drive.
