NORWICH JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 15

Norwich Terriers

A pleasing entry & I enjoyed my day judging at the National Terrier very much. All dogs had excellent temperaments & most were well presented. The gap between the top ones & some of the others was however larger than I would have liked & I was a bit disappointed in the overall quality in bitches where I felt some had narrow skulls & rather full eyes.

PD (1)

1 Hayes’ Ragus Fabulous Clown, masculine, tall rangy puppy at this stage & he needs to drop & develop in body, long in loin, pleasing head, hard coat, movement difficult to assess.

PGD (4,1a)

1 List’s Ragus Morning Herald, masculine dog of excellent type, typical head, good eye & expression, good bone, short coupled body, very hard coat in good order, moved OK behind, wide in front;

2 Haynes’ Alantro’s True Beginnings, big masculine dog in good coat, excellent bone, showing very well, not so pleasing in front & he could do with more angulation in front & rear, large & round in eye detracting from expression;

3 Kell’s Amicaro Whisky Chaser.

LD (3)

1 Baldwin’s Ragus Fair And Square, very good dog indeed who won this class with a bit in hand, pleasing head & eye, good ears & mouth, excellent legs & feet, very good spring of rib & he is short coupled & has good quarters, hard coat in good order, showed well. I liked him very much. RCC;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin Early Morning, well constructed dog with lots to like & he is very pleasing to go over with typical head, good front & rear, excellent bone, needed more coat here today & I would have liked him shorter in back, moves well;

3 Armstrong & Lawrance’s Elantiz Mr William.

OD (2)

1 Oddie’s Ragus Pistols At Dawn, outstanding dog of really lovely type, perfect size, really good front & rear making him completely balanced demonstrated by his faultless movement & outstanding show temperament. Lovely head & expression, good legs & feet, short back, good neck & shoulders, hard coat in pristine condition. A great pleasure to judge & to award CC & BOB;

2 Harpham & Hulance’s Ch Ragus Kiss In The Dark, another very good dog who I liked, very short back, excellent body, just a little narrow in skull & coat not at its best, showed well moving with good drive behind. Excellent breed type.

MPB (4,1)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Showpiece, pretty feminine b/t baby, short back, good topline, excellent mover, in baby coat which could be harder & she is a little light in bone, assertive shower, feminine head which still has time to develop;

2 Tate’s Jaeva Maid Of Honour, this is a nice puppy to go over on the table & she is correctly made in front & rear & has a very good rear, head still very immature, also coat, needs to gain confidence in the ring which made her lose this class;

3 Brown’s Lastarean Bossy Boots.

JB (2,1)

1 Hitchen’s Kreatin Hidden Extra, all quality youngster with great appeal, feminine good head, very sound front, good bone & feet, excellent quarters, hard coat in good order, pleasing topline, easy fluid mover who never stopped showing. Could perhaps be a little shorter in loin, but the more I looked at her the more I liked her & it gave me great pleasure to award her the CC & BP.

PGB (2,1)

1 Haynes’ Alantro First Steps, lively, feminine bitch rather short of coat today, well constructed with enchanting temperament, still needs time to reach her full potential & she is not ultra short in back, typical head, rather full in eye. Lovely easy mover.

LB (4,2)

1 Lazenby’s Tinkave Diamond Girl, excellent type of bitch with good bone, legs & feet, very sound front & rear, good body with excellent spring of ribs, very good coat, feminine head which still needs to develop, lively outgoing temperament, but could have shown with more accuracy in the bitch challenge so had to settle for RCC;

2 Armstrong & Lawrance’s Elantiz Rambling Rosie.

OB (6,1)

Difficult class with five bitches of very different types & sizes & in different coat & condition, also several with small heads & large eyes. After much thought, the final nod went to

1 Stevenson’s Ch Paper Chase at Brickin, very feminine of lovely overall make & shape, pleasing head, eye & expression, good front, short coupled good body, topline could be stronger, good muscular quarters, moved well, hard coat which could have been in better bloom. Good mover;

2 Lazenby’s Ragus Diamonds Only, short backed bitch with good body, wide in front & not in her best coat today, pleasing head, a little narrow in underjaw, excellent type overall;

3 Smith’s Ch Ragus Takes The Biscuit.
