LKA 10 Judge

NORWICH LKA 10 Judge: Mrs E P Hollings NORWICH JUDGE LKA 10 Norwich Terriers I thoroughly enjoyed my day & found improvement in the breed overall from last time. PD (5,1a) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Just The Tonic, all at differing stages of development, this boy has quality, balance, correct bone & a harsh coat beautifully prepared, he is so well put together, just looked long because he was not using his tail to show his shape. However, when one lays hands on him, it is evident that he has correct proportion with good ribbing & short well muscled loin. Although not totally confident yet, his action is true & positive; 2 Bell’s Dorinor Red Coat, just a little raw right now. Hs construction is displayed by his positive footfall, has the bone to give balance when he grows on & fills out, alert & attentive; 3 McLaughlin’s Barwest Bakers Boy, just a little long in hock, which detracts from his movement against 1’s. JD (1) 1 Baldwin’s Ragus Devil’s Due, this red is just over 12 months, yet has the maturity in body & mind that puts him right up there, I just loved his head & dark correctly sized & shaped eye which gives the most engaging expression, has big teeth & strong underjaw, reach of neck from correctly placed shoulders, depth & spring of ribs to short strong loin, giving cobby appearance, plenty after his tail with well muscled quarters, stands on excellent, well padded feet, presented in first class order & coat & working the ring like a pro, I found him impressive in the class, even though he stood alone, he stood out in the challenge to win CC, BOB & G4. Apparently only his second show, what potential. PGD (0). LD (5,2) 1 Crawley’s Ragus Devine Devil, b/t, stood out here, he is a very sound, honest chap, beautiful presentation & handled with quiet professionalism, as with the previous class winner he has a super eye, skull & earset, strong underjaw & strength in muzzle, adding up to an impressive head, he is cobby with firm topline, good bum & well set tail used to advantage, matched the junior dog in the challenge to take RCC, & turned out to be his sibling; 2 Birch & Shipley’s Barwest Barnaby Bill at Kibkiln, well bodied dog but would prefer a little more bone for balance. Has a real terrier attitude, alert & working with handler so well, has a dark eye with typical expression, active mover; 3 Norrey’s Fleurnor Snap Dragon. OD (4,1) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Top Of The Morning, I notice this dog is by the same sire as the major winners, obviously a good producer as this chap presented a picture of type, maturity & quality, has inherited the beautiful head, stands on good legs & well padded feet, cobby with strength behind, harsh full coat. Just going a little wide behind & not quite the showmanship to take him further; 2 Norrey’s Fleurnor Red Hot Poker, cheeky & really up for it, short of coat & furnishings, tidy front standing & moving; 3 Kirkpatrick’s Tynallt Trouble Shooter. PB (6,1) First three again by the sire whose progeny figured today. 1 Crawley’s Ragus Piccadilly. BP & RCC; 2 Crawley & Baldwin’s Ragus Mayfair, have written ‘little between 1 & 2’ & find they are sisters, both have bags of quality & are so typical in outline. 1 was just was better in underjaw & forehand, thus has better reach on the move, she performed with maturity & went even better in the challenge which secured her the RCC. Condition, coat texture & presentation added to their appeal; 3 Kell’s Amicaro Gin Fizz, very pleasing to go over, sound, honest, very satisfying to judge. JB (4,1) Three quality young ladies who with maturity and/or performance will push for the winner’s place throughout their careers. 1 Crawley’s Ragus Cornish Kiss, had the overall finish & maturity but didn’t put it in the same in the challenge. She has a classic shoulder placement giving such scope & ease of pace; 2 Phillips’ Jaeva Dressed To Impress, brand new out, loved her sassy nature & fabulous outline with good use of ear depicting the terrier personality, clean, reachy neck to short firm backline, tail absolutely bang on top & plenty behind. Just needs the time for maturity & watch out; 3 Smith & Crawley’s Ragus Cool Jazz. PGB (5,2) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Does It In Style, busy, balanced & displays quality, stands out for shape & femininity, well bodied, super presentation, went well; 2 Flannery & Bennett’s Amicaro Hi Kicks at Jacquill, decent b/t who shows typical outline, positive mover. Perhaps not just the bone of 1; 3 Hart’s Ragus Sweet Valentine for Honismart. LB (4,1) 1 Griffin’s Brenin Summer Gold with Burlmere, good bone & coat, small, expressive eye, strength in neck, well laid shoulder & good return of upper arm, consequently has smooth ground covering gait; 2 Watkins’ Baktwins Sunrise, has appeal, little stuffy in neckline & could have more angulation in shoulder, therefore not the reach to cover the ground efficiently, correct coat, well presented & working well with handler; 3 Kell’s Amicaro Ring a Roses. OB (3) 1 Crawley’s Ragus Lookin’ Rosy, decent bitches but this one stood away, first class order & coat which was presented to perfection, providing an eyecatching picture, well bodied. CC, her third, another ch for this clever breeder; 2 Martin’s Baktwins Follow That Dream, preferred the eye & expression of 1 but a useful bitch displaying type & shape of the breed. Short back, firm topline, good body & sound mover; 3 Norrey’s Fleurnor Caillan Blaa. |
