Thank you for this small but quality entry. I was generally pretty happy with every exhibit, all being of good breed type, & temperament. There were more light eyes than I have come across before & one or two with slight dentition imperfections, but nearly all had the correct number of nice big teeth. Construction is so much better overall than in my early days, especially hindquarters which have improved out of all recognition with such good angulation compared to the stiff stilted movement of 30-40 years ago! There were no huffy puffy noisy breathers I am glad to say. My top dog & bitch really ‘pleased the eye’ for both breed type & sound movement.

1st: CRAWLEY’s Ragus The Jumping Jack; delightful 6-month-old full of character & interest at his first show. Correctly proportioned head, broad enough in skull for age, alert expression, good stop & strong muzzle. Neat well boned front legs, nice length of neck into well laid shoulders, short level back with depth of ribs in keeping with age. Nicely angulated hindlegs, driving well from low hocks. Showed off his many virtues becoming more confident, moving very soundly covering a good deal of ground for such short legs! Presented in excellent coat, of course! Had to defer to the much older more experienced puppy although it won’t be long before he’s in the lead. I loved him, such gorgeous breed type.

1st: TATE’s Jaeva Pay The Piper; 11 month old very smart eyecatching black & tan presented in excellent coat & condition, showing very well. Typical head, eyes could be darker but they are small with bright alert expression. Correct head proportions, muzzle not too short & in balance with skull which is broad enough for age with good stop. Strong well boned front legs though shoulders could be more laid back. Short back, level topline, cobby body, ribcage deep enough for age. Well muscled hindquarters, good angulation in stifles & hocks giving strong drive. Movement was sound & true in the rear once he settled but a touch wide & a little untidy in front. Nicely balanced pup maturing well & full of promise. Won BP being more ready than the babies.

1st: 1209 WEBSTER’s Bellville Striking Effect; mature 2-year-old showing steadily & confidently, excellent overall breed type of pleasing appearance, a good square dog. Lovely head & expression, dark enough eyes, broad skull & strong muzzle with correct length proportions to skull of 2 to 3. Good bone & short straight front legs, shoulders ok & enough length of neck to balance his overall proportions. Short level back, deep long ribcage & strong well bent hindquarters. Moved very neatly & tidily straight up & down but not as much reach or drive as top winners.

An excellent pair of good type dogs both in full coats:
1st: KELL’s Ragus All Guns Firing For Amicaro; on first impressions I didn’t think this 3 year old would be the winner, but on handling discovered very sound construction & his better movement gave him the edge. Mature & typical head with alert expression from dark eyes, broad skull of good shape, deep enough stop & muzzle strong of correct length, & nice big teeth but need a bit of a clean. Neck length in balance to overall shape, shoulders a little upright, but moved with good reach from straight, strong, well boned front legs. Short enough in back, level topline, deep, long ribcage, excellently muscled hindquarters with good bend in stifles & drives well from low set hocks. Good texture coat, had it been tidier in outline he would have pushed the CC winner harder. I was happy to sign his RCC.
2nd: SMITH’s Javidel Walk In The Park; very smartly presented eye-catching 19 month old with good texture coat, full of type & quality. Lovely head of excellent shape & proportions, pleasing bright eyed expression behind rather shaggy eyebrows! Good big clean teeth, strong, moderately short muzzle, deep stop & nicely curved wide skull. Good length neck & shoulders ok, short level back, cobby body with deep ribcage, well muscled strong hindquarters but moved a bit stiff & wide in rear. Good bone & substance but front legs not as straight as 1st & messed about a bit on the move with less stride & drive.

1st: CRAWLEY, ODDIE, NAGRECHA & DYER’s Ch Ragus Scouts Honour; stunning 2 year old dog who demanded attention with his arrogant outlook! Very attractive & typical head & expression, though for perfection could have a touch more muzzle length, but it is strong & deep. Lovely shape to skull fitting the standard, deep stop & small bright eyes. Good length neck, shoulders ok, flowing into short level back, cobby deep ribbed body. Nice straight front, excellent bone, well angulated hind legs & low set hocks. Moves beautifully flowing smoothly & really strode around the ring making the most of his solo appearance in this class but looked especially good leading the final winners! CC & BOB won with ease.

Thank you for bringing these lovely senior girls!
1st: SMITH’s Ch Ragus Takes The Biscuit JW; 7 ½ years old with champion quality all through! Excellent head with lovely dark eyes, strong skull & correct length muzzle with good stop. Good bone, nice straight front legs moved well in front, a little wide in rear but with drive from well muscled & angulated hind legs. Short back, cobby body, good doer! Good texture thick coat, very smart & looked good in the Veteran group holding her own, moving & showing well, even if a little slow at times!
2nd: ARMSTRONG & LAWRANCE’s Elantiz Rambling Rosie Sh.CM; very smart, attractive, nearly 8 years old show girl though flagged at times dropping her tail. Not quite the quality of 1st being a bit more finely built throughout. Pretty head & typical dark eyed expression, correct head length proportions though would prefer a little more width to skull & strength to muzzle. Presented in excellent coat of good texture & condition & moved very soundly & smoothly, especially from good hindquarters. Front not quite as straight or well boned as 1st.
MPB (1-0)
1st: BATEY’s Ragus Star Jumper; what a little charmer! – litter sister to MPD winner. Just 6 months & a little unsure & distracted at times but once she got going & gained in confidence, especially in the challenge, she went very well showing off her many good qualities. Smart b/t coat of good texture, small but perfectly proportioned head with dark eyes. Straight front & good shoulders, short level back & excellent hindquarters, plenty of drive when she was allowed to trot back towards base! Extremely promising.
PB (1-0)
1st: CRAWLEY’s Ragus Loving Spoonful; 11 months gangly teenager! Good texture but very short coat, she will look so different when furnishings & undercoat regrow. Extremely soundly constructed little girl, although her appearance is leggy at present she is not out of proportion at all for her age being as short legged as the more heavily coated dogs on show. Immature head needs to strengthen in skull but is all in proportion & of good shape, despite rather foxy expression. Very good neck & well laid-back shoulders, straight front legs, would prefer more bone. Short back & good length of ribcage which should deepen with maturity. Super hindquarters in shape & low hocks, very sound driving movement covering good ground. Won BPB over baby, but had to give way to more typical looking dog pup for overall BP.

1st: STEVENSON’s Brickin Chase A Rainbow; my star of the day! Dark red 16 months old, I loved her the moment she entered the ring so full of herself showing her socks off & in fantastic coat, condition & presentation. Her very many good points, type, soundness & quality all rolled into one far & away outshone the others! Such a typical Norwich with mischievous, alert expression from small dark eyes. Head all in proportion, nice broad curved skull, deep stop & shortish strong muzzle – (similar to BOB in that for perfection would prefer a fraction more). Lovely straight front legs of firm bone, shoulders ok, short back & deep cobby body with long ribcage & short loin. Super hindquarters giving excellent driving balanced movement, striding well in front covering good ground. Delighted to award her the CC, she & the dog made a most eye-catching pair, I just felt he had the edge in deportment for BOB.
2nd: WEBSTER’s Ragus Now For Fun; 20 months old b/t a bit less mature, but lovely breed type & typical expression from lovely dark eyes. Head of good shape & proportions though skull needs to broaden, good stop & firm muzzle. Quite good neck & shoulders, straight front, would prefer a bit more bone & substance throughout. Moved steadily & soundly keeping a level topline when settled with good drive from very nicely angulated well-muscled hindquarters. Good texture coat, nicely presented. Not such an outgoing showgirl as 1st, more reserved in nature.

Two very different types:
1st: CRAWLEY’s Ragus Feather In My Cap; 16months old on the larger size, but plenty of style, showmanship & sound lively movement. Strong head of good proportions, everything correct, good stop & the darkest of eyes with keen expression. Good texture coat, very good bone, ok in shoulders, excellent hindquarters very well angulated & muscled, strong driving action. Level topline, well bodied, good length ribcage, very balance outline. Not as feminine as my CC winner & expression a bit foxier, which didn’t appeal quite as much, but a worthy RCC winner & I understand she already has her title!
2nd: ARMSTRONG & LAWRANCE’s Elantiz Jabberjay; 3 years old, smaller finer type of less sound construction than winner. Head could be stronger in skull & muzzle but in length the proportions are correct, with good stop, bright eyes & mischievous expression, though less hair on ears would have looked more typical as they appeared rather larger than they are! Quite good neck & shoulders & enough bone for her size, short level back, ribcage of good length but lacks depth, moderate hind angulation, quite a balanced mover though not the stride or drive of winner. Pretty little girl in perfect coat & presentation, but a bit toyish in comparison to others.
