NORWICH JUDGE CRUFTS 12

Norwich Terriers
It was an honour for me to judge so many quality exhibits. Almost all had good temperaments, trimmed & conditioned well. The only problem I see is poor dentition. Quite a few were missing incisors only having 4 or 5 in front & many missing premolars on the side. Some breeders state the Standard only call for a scissor bite & not how many teeth there are. If one doesn’t breed for the proper amount of teeth this will only lead to narrow pinched jaws. The species dog calls for 42 teeth.

VD

1 James’ Ragus Wild Story at Bakewood, 8 years, very good coat & condition, still has good head & expression, good coat & body, good tailset & carriage, showed well;

2 Dudareva’s Shugar Kjub Snooker, nice condition for 8 years, short body, good coat, nice tailset, good hindquarters. Not as good in head or expression as 1.

PD

1 Hitchen’s Ragus Devil In The Detail for Kreatin, excellent short body, good tailset, pretty head, good dark eye, nice neck, nice bone & feet;

2 Clark’s Honismart Ginger Snaps, short coupled, pleasing outline, good coat, correct tailset. Needs more confidence, not moving as good as 1.

JD

1 Crawley & Oddie’s Ragus Merry Gentleman, the star of the day, an eyecatcher, beautiful type. Stands over four good legs, lovely head & expression, super neck running into well laid back shoulder, short strong body, high tailset, strong angulated quarters. On the move he covers the ground & shows as if he has been doing it for years. Should have a great career. CC, BOB & G1, I believe the first of many;

2 Brown’s Ragus The Devil Can Wait for Lastarean, excellent type b/t, super harsh coat, good legs & feet, correct topline & tailset, pleasing head & expression;

3 Corkhill’s REdash Going For Gold, not as mature as 1 & 2 but lovely type, good expression, good through his shoulder, good tailset & rear angulation. Coat could have been better.

PGD

1 Sidorenko’s Shugar Kjub Jazz, very good size, good shaped head, good ears. Would like darker eye. Good neck & shoulder, good legs & feet, nice topline & tailset, shows well. More coat would improve his look;

2 James’ Bakewood Twentyfour Carat, in good condition, shows well, good shaped head & expression, excellent b/t coat. Would prefer better tailset;

3 Dent’s Ragus Cornish Caper at Fizzella, very nice type, short coupled, good tailset, nice hindquarters. Could have better feet & move better.

LD

1 Crawley’s Ragus Rock The House, lovely size, great substance & in hard condition, nice shaped head & expression, short body, good tailset, lovely bone & feet, good sound showdog. His coat could have been better. RCC;

2 S Kjub Jazz;

3 Lawson’s Softpaws Red Robin at Irvelm, nice size & type, good head & expression except he has a winter nose at present. Good short coupled dog. Could move sounder.

OD

The quality in this class was as good as it gets.

1 Crawley’s Ch Ragus Devine Devil, b/t, super coat, real quality dog who shows well, excellent head & expression, nice substance, good legs & feet, short level back, good tailset & strong hindquarters. Just could have shade more angulation;

2 Crawley’s Ch Cobby’s In Design, slightly bigger dog but all quality. Beautiful expression, nice neck, short strong body & high tailset, good texture coat & good walker. Thought 1 a bit fitter;

3 Elo’s Ch Nanstop Polkagris, a great favourite of mine & one I would have paid good money for some years ago. He is still very beautiful. Beautiful size & type, exquisite head & expression, short level back, good tailset, hard tight coat. However I thought he was showing a little tired & not as sharp as I have seen him.

GCD

1 Botterill & McMurray’s Ragus Just For Kicks, good type, nice outline, correct shaped head & eye, short body, good tailset.

VB

1 Dudareva’s Rus Ch Shugar Kjub Sweet Cheeks, compact bitch, nice head & expression, good coat, fairly sound mover. Bit more neck would improve.

PB

1 Smith & Hurrion’s Ragus Take The Biscuit, nice size, good shaped head & eye, lovely neck & shoulders, good straight legs, nice feet, nice substance, good tailset & hindquarters covered with a good coat. Should have a bright future. RCC;

2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville’s Coconut Effect, same type as 1. Lovely head, short body, good tailset, good coat. Preferred legs & feet of 1;

3 Phillips’ Ragus Madly In Love, of the same type, not quite as finished looking but has all the attributes to become a good one.

JB

1 Crawley & Jones’ Ragus Artful Amber, lovely red, excellent coat & condition, pretty head & expression, compact body, good tailset, nice legs & feet, happy sound mover;

2 Stevenson’s Ragus Coming Up Next at Bricklin, b/t, super coat, good neck & shoulder, topline, bone & feet, good expression. Shade long but good tailset & hindquarters, likes to show;

3 Brown’s Lastarean Kyme For Home, b/t, smaller type. Good head, dark eyes, short back, good tailset, moves & shows well.

PGB

1 Phillips & Gullick’s Nurajay Sugar And Spice at Jaeva, good shower & very sound mover, lovely head & expression, good neck & shoulder, nice bone & feet, level topline, good tailset & hindquarters. Could be a bit shorter in back;

2 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Rambling Rosie, pretty head & expression, compact body, good tailset, shows & moves well. Needs to be in better condition;

3 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Primrose Petal, similar type, short coupled, very good coat, nice shaped body, good tailset. Could move better.

LB

1 Chambers’ Bewitching Belle from Rouletta, very good type, lovely head & expression, nice legs & feet, short body, well developed hindquarters, good coat, shows well;

2 Kell’s Amicaro Ginfizz, good type, right size, feminine expression, good coat, carries her tail well. Could be sounder moving;

3 Watkins’ Baktwins Sunrise, nice short back, good colour & coat, pleasing expression. Her outline was spoiled as she was overweight, therefore not moving well.

OB

1 Stevenson’s Ch Ragus Extra Hot, top class bitch, in lovely condition, beautiful head, nice dark eye, good ears, lovely through her neck & shoulder, good bone & feet, correct strong short body, high tailset, powerful quarters which she uses moving. Never stops showing, she was the class of the bitches. CC;

2 Hitchen’s Ragus Hidden Amber, real quality bitch, nice shaped head, good expression, excellent legs & feet, really short body, high tailset, good quarters, short hocks;

3 Lazenby’s Ragus Diamonds Only, top quality exhibit making a trio of excellent bitches. Her dentition not as good as 1 & 2.

GCB

1 Botterill & McMurray’s Ragus Just For Kicks, quality bitch, in good condition, moving & showing well. Could be trimmed better, especially her tail.
