NORWICH JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 19

I was really looking forward to my judging appointment at Birmingham National. One of the reasons was the possibility to go over a good number of Norwich terriers. I have had the privilege to have known some great authorities of this breed and I will always have a very warm spot for the Norwich terriers in my heart. The quality was good. I found some very beautiful compact individuals of correct type. I was very pleased with them. I also admired your (very correct) way of grooming! Some of them could have been more compact in body. Some were weak in underjaw. Some were lacking in angulation and it was showing in the movement. The problems seem to be similar everywhere. In general I found some very good heads with nice expressions. Good bones, and they were of a very good size. The behinds were probably better than in my home country and the tailsets were good. The tails were not straight yet, it will require time and attention. But it will happen some day, I’m sure of that. We have been in the same situation and it has taken almost 20 years to correct the tails after the docking ban. Looking now at my results it seems to have been a field day for Ragus- kennels. My sincere congratulations for flying the flag so high for this lovely breed. Thank you everybody for showing under me, I really appreciated it. Best of luck for the future!

SBD (1)

1 Hayes’ Ragus Fabulous Clown Sh Ch. Lovely head and expression! Could be more compact in body; slightly long in the loin. Very good forechest, moved a little wide in the front, good bone, a bit gay tail carriage.

MPD (2)

1 Crawley’s Ragus Beyond Question TAF. Lovely dog, slightly long in the loin, not so experienced mover, but when he moved he dit it well, excellent head and expression, well balanced in his angulation, coat is coming through, very good forechest.

2 Page’s Contilly Ask No Questions Between Winflash. Wheaten! Very happy in his attitude, A bit narrow in skull, could have more bone, his front is not his fortune and that shows in his movement.
