NORWICH BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 14 Judge(s): MR JOHN GRIFFIN Norwich Terriers Since I last judged the breed the heads seem to have lost substance in a lot of the exhibits. Ears too close together & the gap between them flat & not rounded. The muzzle, particularly in the bitch classes, was frequently ‘snippy’ & because of this the teeth were small & the mouth crowded. MPD (3) 1 Oddie’s Ragus Pistols At Dawn, good earst, dark eye, scissor bite, teeth of good size, well laid shoulders, level back, good turn of stifle, moved well; 2 Stevenson’s Brickin Early Morning, most of the attributes of 1 but at this stage 1 had slightly stronger head & was more settled on the move; 3 Kell’s Amicaro Whisky Chaser. PD (1) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Hot Off The Press, good ear placement, correct bite, well laid shoulders, level back, moved well. JD (2,1a) 1 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Mr William, dark eye, bite OK, shoulder placement could be better as could movement. Level back, a bit on the plump side. PGD (1) 1 Haynes’ Alantro’s True Beginning, good earset, dark eye, scissor bite, shoulders OK, level back. Needs more drive. Compact dog. LD (1) 1 Jones’ Ragus Made You Look, good ear placement, dark eye, well defined stop, scissor bite with strong teeth, the type of head that I like to see on a Norwich. Good layback of shoulder, level back, strong rearend, moved with drive. CC & BOB. OD (2) 1 Crawley, Sweigart & Beale’s Am Ch Ascot Sanspur at Yarrow, good ear placement, dark eye, correct bite, well laid shoulders, level back, balanced dog that moved with drive. RCC; 2 Brown’s Ragus The Devil Can Wait for Lastarean, much the same as 1 but I preferred the movement of 1. MPB (5,2) 1 Crawley’s Wicked Witch at Ragus, good shape, shoulder, bite & earset, dark eye, level back, well turned stifle, moved well; 2 Watkins’ Brickin, same attributes of 1 but weight will be a problem; 3 Stevenson’s Brickin Glorious Morning. PB (1) 1 Haynes’ Alanro First Steps, correct ear placement, dark eye, scissor bite, good layback of shoulder, level back, very good movement. BP. JB (4,2) 1 Stevenson’s Paper Chase at Brickin, good earset, dark eye, teeth of good size forming scissor bite, well laid shoulders, level back, moved well; 2 Baldwin’s Ragus My Fair Lady, head could be stronger & teeth bigger. Level topline. PGB (2) 1 Haynes’ Baktwins Amber Diamond at Alantro, head could be stronger. Dark eye, scissor bite, shoulders OK, level back, moved well; 2 Kell’s Amicaro Jubilympia, ear placement OK, teeth very small. Good front, moved OK. LB (4,1) 1 Phillips, Gullick & Tate’s Jaeva Shocking Pink, the head I like to see on a Norwich. Good width slightly rounded between ears, good stop, strong muzzle, scissor bite, well laid shoulders, level back, moved well. CC; 2 Armstrong & Lawrence’s Elantiz Primrose Petal, another good Norwich but preferred movement of 1; 3 Lazenby’s Tinkave Diamond Girl. OB (4) 1 Crawley’s Sw Ch Ragus Comfort And Joy, compact, correct shape, strong head, again what I like to see. Correct bite, level back, good tail carriage, the only correct one of the day. Moved with drive. RCC; 2 Brown’s Queslade Amber Angel, again much the same as 1 & the two could change places on another day. Just preferred movement & tail carriage of 1; 3 Hitchen’s Ch Kreatin Hidden Gem. JOHN GRIFFIN |
