Norwich Terriers

My thanks to the exhibitors who had entered. The entry was disappointing with only five dogs & eleven bitches present, but the top winners were very pleasing. A number of exhibits had missing incisors, but I have learned my lesson on that & didn’t penalise this harshly. There were one or two with rather light eyes. On the whole hind movement was OK but some fronts were iffy. I found no problems of the kind listed in the KC’s breed watch website.

1 Crawley’s Ragus Hand In Glove, a very smart puppy standing, but does need a bit more ring training. Enough neck, good compact body, moved well both in front & behind. Good bone & feet. Eye could be better. Good in skull & excellent ears;

2 Hayes’ Ragus Fabulous Clown, has more age than the winner but seemed a bit lacking in strength of muzzle, good in skull, good eye & not quite the compactness of 1 as far as body was concerned. Good enough in tail. Moved OK behind, but he too needs a bit more ring training.

1 Ragus Fabulous Clown.

1 Crawley & Stevenson’s Wychcover Moonlighting, a good class & a close run thing with 1 being just a bit better moving behind than 2. Good in head, though eye could be better, excellent neck, very well presented. Good straight front legs with correct bone. Good spring of rib & was excellent for type. Went on to win the CC & BOB;

2 Stevenson’s Brickin Early Morning, another good one with less body. Good in coat. Could move with more drive & precision behind but he too was good in head & pleasing in bone.;

3 Harpham & Hulance’s Caractacus Potts.

1 Crawley’s Ragus Broadway Baby, scored very much for both breed type & for soundness & went on to be Best Puppy. Really good in head & expression. Good in skull, good ears, enough neck & moved well in front & really well behind. Enough coat for age & very good in topline & tailset;

2 Tate’s Jaeva Maid of Honour, not showing to best advantage, not quite the strength of muzzle of 1 & a bit overdone in rib. Good topline & short enough in back but really didn’t put all in or make the most of herself showing;

3 Martin’s Tinkave Brown Eyed Girl at Kirmir.

PB (3)

1 Crawley’s Ragus Now You’re Talking, scored for showmanship here but I thought her coat which was still very much a puppy coat, made her look a bit overdone in rib. Scored for neck, topline & general substance over

2. Good in skull, moved well; 2 Stevenson’s Brickin Showpiece, sadly she didn’t really put all into her showing today going around the ring, & didn’t use her tail as well as 1. Moved well behind. Good in neck. Not quite the head of 1 but scored for movement over

3, Walters’ Saltarello Threepenny Bit.

JB (1)

1 Stevenson’s Tiger Lilly Lady at Brickin, a pleasing puppy which stood alone here. Good in head & eye, correct in topline & tailset. Showed well. Moved better behind than in front. Good tight feet & coat OK. Enough bone & good in stifle.

LB (3)

A difficult class with the first two being of rather different types.

1 Corkhill’s Redash The Merry Widow, better behind than in front. Good neck & topline, good in rib. Enough body. Could have smaller ears. Needs a bit more coat to complete the picture but had good Norwich type & balance. Went on to win the CC;

2 Hitchen’s Kreatin Hidden Extra, I thought very good in many ways but just lacked type a little compared to 1 – maybe only because of presentation. Could do with a bit more neck & head, could have been just a shade bigger to complete the balance. She moved well in front but a shade close behind. Good tailset & OK in coat though could have had a bit more ruff for type & balance. RCC;

3 Martin’s Kirmir Little Mischief.

OB (2,1)

1 Stevenson’s Ch Paper Chase at Brickin, what a pity that this one just would not show & was being very naughty. She was very typy. She had a good head & expression & was good in ears & correct in body proportions. Sound in front & behind when she behaved. She was not at all nervous but just misbehaved throughout.
