NORFOLK WINDSOR 15 Judge: Mrs C M Howard BEST OF BREED : 584 JENKINS Miss D Ch Kinsridge Top Tip NORFOLK JUDGE WINDSOR 15 Norfolk Terriers A lovely show to finish my judging career & such a pleasure to be able to go over one of the most outstanding Norfolks in Ch Kinsridge Top Tip since Ch Cracknor Cause Celebre, to whom I gave her first CC. Thank you, Windsor Committee, & the exhibitors for making this such a memorable day. V (2,2a). MPD (2) 1 Newton’s Strathinver Sea The Stars, promising youngster, a smart red 7 month old, who moved freely, striding out with plenty of drive from the rear, shorter in back than 2 with level topline. Good head with neat ears & dark eye & short muzzle with strong teeth; 2 Newton’s Strathinver Starring Roll, a good type of Norfolk, who moved well. Attractive head with good width of skull & well held ears, decent length of neck & level topline & upright tail carriage gave a balanced outline, but quite not so positive behind as 1. PD (4) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Coin A Phrase, beautifully presented b/t in gleaming coat, with good length of neck & good shoulders & straight front legs so able to stride out & cover the ground well when moving. Charming head with broad skull, neat ears & short muzzle giving attractive expression, teeth just OK. Quality bone & well bodied ws.BPD; 2 S Starring Roll; 3 Broom’s Roxway Book Seller. JD (2) A very close decision between these two youngsters of similar age of just 13 months. Both expertly presented in excellent coat . 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Back Chat, slightly shorter in back & when he pulls himself together looks a king with his most attractive head & expression, super neck flowing into sloping shoulders, level topline, short back & proudly held tail. Put up a very good performance on the move, good bend of stifle, with low hocks giving him plenty of drive from the rear, he just missed out on the RCC spot on maturity – he will surely be reigning soon; 2 Atkinson’s Moortop Marks Delivery, a very promising dog, unlucky to meet 1, with expressive dark eye & well carried ears, slightly more upright in shoulder, but straight front legs with neat cat feet, good spring of ribs & in hard condition with well-toned muscles with harsh coat, he was moving well too. YD (1) 1 Atkinson’s Blakens I Look To You, b/t in perfect nick, slightly longer in back but a beautifully balanced dog that I considered for the RCC. Very well put together with nothing exaggerated. Very nice head of right proportions with sparkling black eye & strong muzzle with good bite. Good length of neck, level topline & splendid upright tail. He moved with plenty of swagger around the ring. PGD (3,1) 1 Broom & Davies’ Roxway Quite Enough, a very free moving dog in complete accord with his handler, in very harsh red coat with no frills, nothing hidden by furnishings, just 2 years. Very active type & a true terrier. Neatly made with correct proportions, just wish he had a little more substance as he needs a bit more depth in body. Moved effortlessly really striding out; 2 Brown’s Dajean Dotty’s Digger, light red in softer coat, trying to please, but not the easiest dog to handle. Slightly longer in body & leg than 1 but lean & fit; well carried ears & good dark eye, with level topline on the move, tail perhaps a bit low set. LD (4,1) 1 Phillips’ Blakens Pay Back, caught my eye as he came into the ring, with his stylish crested neck, level topline & upright tail to finish the picture. On the table has a beautiful head, good muzzle & scissor bite with large teeth, & very nice expression. A lovely type of Norfolk in immaculate coat, beautifully presented. Great outline from side view, striding out with reach, but moving just a tad wide in front. RCC; 2 Ackling’s Ruby Rueben, a smaller dog, neat as a new pin, beautifully presented, but not showing with much animation today. Well made, short in back with level topline & good tailset, a very nice type of Norfolk, just didn’t have the sparkle of 1 today; 3 Lloyds’ Orison Midnight Myth. OD (2) 1 Gee’s Watercroft In A Pickle, a most handsome masculine dog just coming into his prime at 2½ years, presented in perfect coat. Excellent head with neat ears, dark eye nicely rimmed, short muzzle with good bite & attractive expression, elegant crested neck flowing to good lay of shoulders, level topline & well held tail. Good front with straight front legs with well-padded cat feet. Deep in body, well ribbed & he has matured into a really nice dog. Moved freely to & fro, & with plenty of propulsion from behind. CC; 2 Newton’s Strathinver Smart Enough, a very well made dog with firm muscles in good condition. Head of right proportions, but ears a bit unsteady today, & harsh coat not at its best. One of the best movers, & has passed some sterling qualities onto his son, who beat him in this class today & other winning offspring. GC (1) 1 D Dotty’s Digger. PB (7,1) 1 Gullick & Tate’s Orison Midnight Dreamer at Jaeva, expertly produced, attractive red 10 months of good type, not a lot of her but of good quality, sweet head, neat ears, dark eye, short muzzle with good bite, decent length of neck with level topline, but tail slightly over, straight front legs with neat catlike feet, in excellent harsh coat, put up an agile performance as thoroughly in tune with handler, moving to & fro happily striding out. BP; 2 Stevenson’s Brickin Simplicity, a charming b/t of great promise, with pretty head & sweet expression, very dark eye, & correct scissor bite, enough substance with good body, level topline & good tail carriage, well laid shoulders & straight front legs, she moved very freely & is a very useful type – I liked her a lot; 3 Cooper’s Settrenda So Saucy. JB (6,2) 1 Gullick & Tate’s Jaeva Hells Fire, a quality bitch of very good proportions all in balance, & an alert & happy showgirl. Very attractive head with lovely expression, excellent outline with good length of neck, level topline & good tail carriage & depth of body, moving freely, has all the right attributes to go further. RCC; 2 Devereux’ Vichea Little Gem, overall a very nice bitch with a really pretty head, good width of skull, dark eye, good stop, short muzzle with good strong teeth giving appealing expression, well laid shoulders, straight front, good body, level topline but tail slightly over, moved OK, close decision with 3, but won on better head; 3 Atkinson’s Moortop Just The One. YB (4,2) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Dream Topping, red bitch in good condition well presented, attractive expression with dark eye well carried ears & muzzle with good strong teeth. Decent length of neck, good front & body with plenty of substance, shorter in back than 2, moved freely; 2 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Holly, light red in slightly softer coat, her very dark eye gave a charming expression. Good length of neck, slightly longer in back than 1 but with excellent upright tailset. Quite enough body – could afford to lose a little weight as rather inactive & not demonstrating the movement of 1. PGB (6) 1 Higgins & Hess’ Umbrage The Gloriana, she won this class on her movement, really striding out with plenty of propulsion & covering the ground. In very good coat, & although slightly long in the back overall a very nice mature bitch with substance. Sweet expression & good mouth, level topline & upright tail showing a lovely outline on the move; 2 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hazel, an old-fashioned type of Norfolk with correct proportions. Good quality bone, deep bodied, well ribbed with plenty of substance. I liked her head & expression with good bite, & she carried herself well with holding a level topline & upright tail, although feeling the heat somewhat, she moved well enough; 3 Macartney’s Nordalset Little Bit Of Sun for Ivrig. LB (5,1) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Wild Ivy, a bitch of compact neat shape in super harsh red coat. Excellent mouth with scissor bite, expressive dark eyes & well held ears. In very good body – not overweight like some – well made with very good conformation all in proportion presenting a balanced picture on the move. Altogether, a lovely bitch; 2 New’s Raven Beauty, beautifully presented in very tidy b/t jacket in great accord with her handler. Pretty head with broad skull, dark eye, strong muzzle with good bite, a mature bitch with deep brisket & good turn of stifle, slightly longer in back than 1, but very level topline & excellent upright tail; 3 Philips’ Nordalset Truly Madly. OB (3) 1 Jenkins’ Ch Kinsridge Top Tip, she has established herself firmly at the top of the tree & deservedly so. On the table underneath that immaculate shining harsh red coat is an absolutely beautifully constructed bitch. She also has the temperament & personality to go with it which exudes from her lovely head, sparkling almond eyes & neat ears, beautifully set on neck & shoulders with her short dead level topline, though her tail does go over somewhat. Also going for her is being piloted by her breeder-owner-groomer-handler & watching her glide round the ring so effortlessly & smoothly creates an unforgettable picture. CC & BOB, & G4; 2 Gee’s Watercroft Top Tia, so unlucky to meet her half-sister, as of very similar build & physique. Another lovely bitch – I was spoilt for them today – she too was beautifully presented in very good coat & condition. A real quality bitch of true merit, Charming head & expression, lovely reach of neck, good depth of body & good upright tail carriage, she moved well too; 3 Green’s Wharfvalley Wild Child.
