NORFOLK JUDGE WINDSOR 14

Norfolk Terriers

Really enjoyed judging this breed whom I have lived with for many years. since last time mouths have improved, fronts are still an issue I feel, however what concerned me today was the hind movement. The Standard does ask for a low & driving action & there were an alarming amount who were lacking this & were tummy tapping, something perhaps the breeders should address.

V (3,1a)

1 Hatchwoods Smokescreen, typical in outline & moving so well for her age, preferred her head to 2. Correct muzzle to skull ratios, excellent eye, super neck & covered the ground on the move;

2 Bricken Happy Magic, enjoying her day out, cobby in body & in good condition, would prefer more length to muzzle for balance. Touch full in eye for me.

MPD (5,1)

1 Krisma Flashback to Kinsridge, quality youngster who throws a lovely outline standing & moving, very showy & handled to advantage, head is typical & scores in backline & quarters, using them to full advantage. Must have a great future. BP;

2 Blackens Payback, another star in the making, very good for make & shape, super harsh coat, loved his head & eye. Touch loose in front but has time on his side, will watch both these youngsters with interest.

PD (2)

1 Arderry Son Of A Gun, won on his outline & co-ordination on the move, head is good & developing well, substantial body & covers ground on the move, would like him straighter in front;

2 Blackens I Look To You, very typy dog who on hands on is very correct, however totally uncooperative with the handler which cost him.

JD (0).

PGD (6,1)

1 Belleville Rollcall, liked him a lot, decent head & expression, correct eye & ears, excellent neck, the outline I consider correct, very showy excellent in side gait with good driving action;

2 Bricken Country Wide, liked him for size & outline, however he could have a more masculine outlook about him, decent head, however lacking furnishings today & felt a touch soft in coat.

LD (3)

1 Blakens The Kandy Man Kan, totally typical male who oozes quality, to cap it he was in superb body & coat condition, harsh jacket that fits him so well complimenting his outline, liked his head a lot, muzzle is strong & in ideal ratios to skull, good width to skull & eyeset colour & position is ideal, enhancing expression, short backed male with good depth & substance, stands on top of himself throwing the most wonderful outline, moves round the ring with steady carriage driving well with his quarters, holding his shape at all times, pleased me greatly today as he ticked many boxes to win the CC. If I’m critical he is a touch upright in front & comes towards a fraction wide, which cost him BOB;

2 Watercroft In A Pickle, another quality dog, who scored heavily in outline & topline, in good jacket showing his head off for his very good handler. I just preferred the muzzle & strength of 1. He appeared very busy in front action, perhaps slowing him down would have given a different picture.

OD (6,1)

1 Belleville Seduction, glorious b/t male who does give you goosebumps. I loved him, excellent head with correct stop & muzzle to skull ratios, super neck & topline, super eye & expression, thought him my CC winner to start with, however both in the class & the challenge he was rather a handful, even though he scored heavily in side gait, was moving a touch wide going away & jumping in front a little. Close up for the CC but had to settle for the RCC for this. I also did prefer the shorter backline of the limited dog who did throw out a crisp outline standing & moving in profile. A top class dog indeed who I’m sure will top the lot on a different day;

2 Strathinver Smart Enough, very masculine male who on hands on is excellent to go over, broad skull & correct stop, however his ears are a bit flyaway, strong bodied & boned, totally sound in all directions particularly behind displaying the correct action required.

GC (1)

1 Hatchwood Smokescreen.

MPB (4)

1 Kinsridge Top Tip, maturing well, very nice for make & shape, wow & what big teeth she has in a perfect scissor, gassy on the move & so clean moving;

2 Bricken Tidy Affair, very typy bitch who is good to go over, super head & expression, uncooperative mover & was too busy sniffing the floor, which made movement difficult to assess, at times making her drop in shoulder. However did enough to win this place.

PB (6,3)

1 Belleville Summer Crunch, lovely for type, this kennel certainly has their individual stamp, super make & shape, short on coat so very little to hide, is so good to handle on the table, totally correct behind with good driving action, pretty head & expression, really liked her, a future star in the making;

2 Nordalset Mad About You, liked this youngster a lot, so unlucky to meet one today, another who has a good outline, excellent quarters, pretty head & expression, good quarters, gave a good account of herself.

JB (6,1)

1 Villassa Star Turn, another that complimented my bitch line-up. Really liked her, spot on for conformation, throwing a lovely outline, head is good with a keen desired expression, so sound moving, went well in all directions, just needs to finish a little in body considered her for the RCC but had to give way to the more mature bodied bitches. Will watch her progress;

2 Pipridges Holly, another who scored on outline, good coat, however a touch overweight, excellent going away & inside gait.

PGB (6,2)

1 Wharfvalley Wild Child, scored on her size & short back, super coat & topline, so typical in outlook which won her this class, moved well;

2 Umbrage The Gloriana, very showy bitch who uses her neck to such advantage, correct head planes, even though she was such an active mover a touch erratic on the move today, as in my opinion moving way too fast, her topline dips behind the withers which cost her the class.

LB (7,1)

1 Hatchwoods Flamenco, so much to like about her, such a balanced outlook, good type & enough detail in head, correct muzzle to skull ratios, necky bitch, who has a very steady gait scoring in side action. Presentation could be better;

2 Pipridges Hazel, scored on topline both standing & moving, head developing well, however a touch bold in eye for me.

OB (4,1)

1 Belleville Just Magic, and magic she was, found her so correct for type, ideal size, good coat, super eye & dark pigmented eye rims which enhances expression, pretty head with just enough skull & foreface & wow what a fabulous body she has, ideal front & rear angles, short in back & deep giving that desired cobby yet substantial feel to her, excellent ribbing & strong short loin, well let down quarters. Tail set bang on, her attitude was super, very gassy & full of herself, typical Norfolk temperament, moves a dream, OK going, most explosive side gait, for such a short backed bitch she really reaches & drives, covering the ground with minimum effort. Would prefer her touch tidier in front however has the whole package. One has to handle her to admire her. CC & BOB;

2 Watercroft Top Of The Pops, another top class bitch, similar attributes to 1, excellent body, short back with depth & substance to body, yet feminine, necky bitch who also is a real performer & show girl, just preferred the better set to shoulder & quarters of 1, this lady holds her outline at all times standing & moving, delighted to give her RCC.
