NORFOLK JUDGE WELSH KC 23

My thanks to the exhibitors for their entry, our ring surface wasn’t the best and a number of dogs didn’t cope well with it. It’s been some years since I last judged the breed and I feel breeders need to concentrate on front construction and mouths, both these ares concerned me.

VD

1 Nash’s Ralph of House Nash. 8 years old & nice for size & breed type. Typical head with a keen expression. Compact made body & low, in a good coat and nice condition. Moved ok in front but moved away with a good driving action. BV.

MPD

1 Davis’s Watercroft Cosmic Dust. A happy youngster of good type. He has a nice head for his age with well placed ears. Good body, short back with a nice spring of rib. Correct tailset, in a nice coat. Just needs time to settle in movement, well handled.

PD

1 Gee’s Watercroft Tiger Feet. Nice type of dog, good overall shape. Head is ok for his age, good width of skull, nice ear placement, needs to fill out in muzzle. Nice length of back with a good spring of rib. Correct in tailset, well made hindquarters. Needs to firm up in front action. In a good coat & shows very well.

JD

1 Nash’s Earthtaw Owain The Celt at Raphiggy. B/T, nice size and shape. very pleasing head & keen expression. Good in neck & shoulders, well made body with nice angulated hindquarters. Correct tailset. Lively clean mover, in good coat of correct texture.

PGD

1 Davis’s Watercroft Earl Grey. Good in head & expression. A little too much body weight but a nice spring of rib. Needs to improve in front action, but has a very good backend with drive. Coat in between, a very happy showman.

LD (4)

1 Jenkins Kinsridge Cash Point. I liked this boy for his size, type & balance. Nice clean outline, good head & expression, well defined stop. Good length of neck & front.short compact body with a good spring of rib, level back & correct tailset. Well made hindquarters, in very good coat & condition. Moved cleanly around the ring. RCC.

2 Darnell’s Jacquidon Hot Off The Press. I liked his size & type, pleasing head with well placed ears. Good reach of neck, good body with correct spring of rib & low. He has a really good backend & was in good coat.

3 Harrison’s Jacquidon Rich Tea.

OD (2)

1 Gee’s Ch Watercroft Boozy Miller. I really like this dog for his breed type & size, lovely balanced shape. Good head, dark eye, well defined stop with a well filled muzzle. Good in neck & shoulder, well made Cobby body, strongly made hindquarters with a correct tailset. In first class coat & condition, moving fluently around the ring. Shows like the top dog he is. CC & BOB. Good to see he took G4 in a strongly contested group.

2 Ward’s Littlemount Celina Y Mor. Was reserve in LD. Nice for size & shape. Nice head but could have a shorter muzzle. Well made body, moves a little wide in front but moved extremely well behind. In a good coat.

PB (3,1)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Back In A Jiffy. B/T. Really liked her size & breed type. Nice head & expression, still will continue to improve. Good cobby body with nice spring of rib. Good front, well angulated hindquarters & correct tailset. In nice coat & condition, moves very nicely. Well handled in the challenge by her young handler. BP.

2 Stevenson’s Bricklin Cherish. A raw baby who was a little overawed at first. Needs lots of time to mature & gain confidence. Pretty head, kind expression. Nice body shape, moved nicely behind once she had settled. Coat unfortunately blown.

JB

1 Nash’s Silverlily of Housenash at Raphiggy. B/T. Nice breed type, pleasing head & expression. Good neck & shoulders, straight front. Well made body, nice turn of stifle. In good coat & condition. Positive mover both ways, good outline on the move which won her the RCC.

PGB (3,1)

1 Hess’s Umbrage Special Delivery. Pretty headed girl. Pleasing & balanced outline. Good head & expression, correct ear placement. Good in neck, shoulders & front. Well made body with a good spring of rib. Nice sound & lively mover. Has a coat of excellent texture.

2 Barrow’s Kinsridge Pick Diamond. Really nice type, good head & expression. Well made body, nice amount of bone. Good front but needs more width in her hind action. Happy showgirl.

LB (4,1)

1 Atkinson’s Moortops Bobbys Girl. I liked her size & balance. A nice head & alert expression. Good in neck & shoulders, well made body. Very good coat, moved steadily keeping her topline.

2 Gee’s Watercroft Gin Fizz. Another of very nice type. Not in the best of coats. Nice head & expression. Movement varied hence her placement today.

3 Hess’s Umbrage Up All Night.

OB (1)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Treacle Toffee. Really nice type, balanced outline, good size with a feminine outlook. Good head & expression, correct ears Et & well defined stop. Mature cobby body, correct tailset & carriage. In very nice coat of good texture. Sound and fluent mover. CC & BOS.
