NORFOLK JUDGE WELKS 18

PD (1)

1 & BP Stevenson's Brickin Just A Pickle a good start to the day with this rather promising youngster. I really liked his head quality, certainly doggy, beautiful eyes and expression, sufficient stop and well weighted muzzle. He owns a good neck and carries it so well which adds to his appeal. Well ribbed, firm in backline and so well muscled in hindquarters. In excellent jacket and he showed his head off. Just a bit bouncy in front action at present but in profile he shows good ground cover and hock use.

JD (4)

1 Gee's Watercroft Calling Time I felt the quality of his head and expression edged him the red card. Just enough neck, but he is well ribbed and well boned with good feet. Short in loin and shown in good coat. Side on he covers the ground briskly but toes in a bit when fore viewed.

2 McPhee's Kinsridge No Problem at Foxhouse so well constructed with big ribs, little loin and so compact in overeall shape. He possesses such a good neck which adds to his appeal. Not quite the eye and expression of the winner and he gave his handler a hard time on the move, playing up when coming towards me. But clearly a character.

3 Lloyd's Orison Ice Tee.

My stewards were Liz Holmes and her husband of Navarre Miniature poodle fame and post judging Liz said I would be interested in a certain affix and this was it!! Those in a certain age group will recall the fabulous Miniature Poodles of the late great Rita Gee whose Affix was Beritas which is now owned by her niece, hence the Beritas name survives!

1 Walshe's Beritas The Name's Bond Very nice type good skull, with lovely eyes but I would like a more weight in muzzle. Beautiful bite and teeth, enough neck, ribs have enough spring, loin a tad long exaggerated by his being between coats. Impressive profile action but another which is a shade wide when fore viewed.

LD (2/1)

1 CC & BOB Jenkins' Kinsridge Witty Banter another stunning example of the breed from this very clever breeder. I thought him outstanding in today's entry, loved everything about him, gorgeous headpiece, eyes and expression, strong neck, so compact in body spirit level backline, good tail and easily the most accomplished mover of the day. His jacket is so harsh and dense and it finished off a beautiful picture of what a classy Norfolk can look like. Delighted to send him through to the Group and believe I am right in saying that this was his 3rd CC, as I'm told he won his 2nd CC & BOB at Crufts this year. Well done!

1 & Res CC Horne's Ch Marchdens Mark My Words such a typey all male charmer this chap is. So shapely, compact, well ribbed body, lovely weighted bone and good feet. His head is a delight and the expression almost wilfully mischievous from those beautiful eyes. Spotless in presentation he is so very sound and is ultra positive as he circles the ring with that air of bravado. A good class to win.

2 Stevenson's Ch Brickin Pot of Pickle unsurprised to read that he is a titleholder. He has that air of being something special, excellent size and proportions, strong neck, so well ribbed, straight fore limbs and well set tail. Shown in full coat and he moves out with a balanced stride. I thought his head handled so well but I just edged the winner to the red card on his slightly more expressive eye.

3 Hurrion & Standen's Villassa Jack Be Quick.

Spec Beg D (1)

1 Davies' Lagdenfarm Fidget Pie delightful tempereament on this very happy fellow. Pleasing head, well defined stop skull could be a tad wider for a male but he has nice eyes. Well sprung ribs, good backline and well muscled. A trifle too wide in front when moving.

Spec Beg. B (5,3)

1 Haydon & Jenkins' Villassa Jelliwobble at Earthaw such a poppet. Ultra feminine and pretty in expression. Ample neck, level backed, well set tail and a tight, dense fitting coat. A credit in condition and she moved out so soundly.

2 Owens' Brickin Happy Dance this dark red was not putting all in on the move and lacked the light joi de vivre attitude of the winner. Better skull, well defined stop and such good ears. Held her backline well when moving and she was in good coat.

PB (8/3)

1 Jenkins' Kinridge Chitchat I really like this red charmer and in this class she was full of self importance, outgoing, light footed and showing her head off. She is a delight to go over, beautiful headpiece, correct eyes and ample weight in muzzle. Shapely, well coated and sound as a pound when moving. Then in the BP challenge she just went to pieces, tail down and that "take me home" look so the lovely young male won the award.

2 Darnell's Jacquidon Rags to Riches another really lovely youngster and I am sure she too will have a bright future. She is so similar in make and shape to the winner, beautifully proportioned length/height outline, excellent neck and backline, really good bend olif stifle and firm, straight hocks. Flawless in coat and she matched the winner stride for stride as they circled the ring.

3 Thompson-Morgan's Belleville Back to Black.

JB (7/1)

Almost dead heat time separating these two very smart bitches. I liked their make and shape, excellent ribbing with short loins, good rear angles with well bent stifles and straight hocks. Both moved out with a degree of gusto showing good forward reach and powerful hock use. Both have well balanced head with a degree of stop and well placed ears. I split them only on the fact that for me the winner has the more almond shaped eye, but I'm sure they will swap places often.

1 Gee's Watercroft Gold Dust.

2 Phillips' Blakens Look No Further.

3 Darnell's Jacquidon Nip and Tuck.

YB (5)

1 & Res CC Gee's Watercroft Pink Fizz one of those which just walks in and there is an instant attraction. So bitchy in every sense of the word, heavy coated red with a beautiful headpiece, well placed and carried ears, such good expressive eyes and she has a really good neck which she holds well and adds to her appeal. Nicely ribbed, fairly compact, well muscled hindquarters and side on she can motor.

2 Thompson-Morghan's Villassa Jelligello disadvantaged here as she is between coats. I liked her skull, eyes and ears with a degree of stop. For me she needs to develop more width in foreface to complete the head picture. Not so forward in body as Fizz but as she went around the ring she showed good forward reach and held her topline so well.

3 Walshe's Beritas Bedvilled.

PGB (5/3)

1 Owens' Brickin Happy Dance at that raw, unfinished stage of development. Pleasing head, very dark and expressive eyes, sufficient neck with a good spring of rib. Forelegs could be straighter and she was not in her best coat. Side on she is balanced and holds her shape.

LB (2/1)

1 Greenqays' Kenberlynn Angels Wings this bitch was out of coat and it only served to confirm that she is overweight and needs to be slimmed down igf she is continued to be shown. Her head handles well, very good eye shape and colour, slightly rounded skull and a well defined stop. She is delightful in temperament and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying her time in the ring.

OB (3)

1 & CC Phillips' Marchdens Look to the Sky for Blakens delightful b/t and I was more than happy to have her as my BCC winner. Ticks all the right boxes, correct size, well boned, so firm in body, well muscled rear end, good arched and strong neck holding a charming head which has a decent width in skull, lovely muzzle weight, lovely ears and such a good bright expression. Immaculate in coat and she never put a foot wrong on the move.

2 Thompson-Morgan's Belleville Ovation I felt this red was a bit unfinished in body when compared to those I put over her and was not quite in here best coat. So stylish in outline and body construction, good neck, well set tail and ultra sound on the move. A clean one piece wedge head with ample stop and good eyes for size, colour and expression.

3 Hurrion's Villassa Cherry Tart
