NORFOLK WELKS 13 Judge(s): MRS C M HOWARD Norfolk Terriers MPD (6) 1 Hitchen’s Kreatin Tellin Tales, 7 months b/t of excellent type in harsh coat, very alert & on his toes, good head with neat ears, short muzzle, bright eyed with lovely expression, level topline & upright tail, moved out well, & responded to sympathetic handling; 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Roll Call, rather more stocky & with softer coat, which he had tried to prune himself & could have been in better condition. Foursquare & short in back, good head with plenty of width of skull between well held ears, good mouth & bite, level topline kept on the move with plenty of drive from rearend; 3 Ellis’ Brymarden Snow Patrol. PD (3) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Cash Back, what a promising youngster, quality puppy with lovely outline & plenty of bone & substance, really filled the eye. A bit unsure of himself & moving in fits & starts, as lacking experience, but gave glimpses of super movement when he did settle for a few strides, a blueprint of a Norfolk head with good width between correctly dropped ears, muzzle in the right proportion to skull & dark eyes giving a gorgeous expression, level topline with erect tail & overall his lovely make & shape will soon undoubtedly challenge the best. BP. JD (2) 1 Phillips’ Blakens Xpress Yourself, it was his day, has matured into a lovely dog, beautifully presented & he strode round like a professional as though he owned the ring – which he did here. Masculine dog in spot-on condition in gleaming coat, excellent head with neat, well dropped ears, dark eye, correct proportions of skull, intelligent expression, gently crested neck onto well laid shoulders with level topline & upright tail carriage, good depth of body, nice turn of stifle, moved truly to & fro & with great drive from the side & made a lovely balanced outline. I had much pleasure in giving him his first CC & BOB. PGD (4) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Quids In, litter brother to Cash Back & very similar in make & shape, very promising red puppy with plenty of substance & quality, beautiful head with dark eye, well held ears & lovely expression, super reach of neck to level topline & excellent tail carriage. It is hard to separate these brothers; 2 Darnell’s Jacquidon Tough As A Nut, a bit more substantial, typy head with expressive dark eye & strong muzzle, level topline with well carried tail, moved with enthusiasm, attentive to handler; 3 Lloyd’s Orison Thunderstorm. LD (2) A. OD (5) Three very nice dogs all very well presented. 1 Newton’s Strathinver Smart Enough, well made dog of just the right proportions giving stylish outline, not exaggerated in any way but beautifully balanced with substance & good quality bone, masculine head with strong bite, good dark eye & well held ears, good length of neck well set on, good front with straight forelegs with neat cat feet, level topline & plenty of propulsion on the move from well shaped hindquarters. RCC; 2 Atkinson’s Ch Moortop No Choice, lovely dog of good proportions, very low to ground in a harsh red jacket, a real terrier, varminty sort, fit & in prime condition with plenty of muscle tone, good head with neat ears with strong short muzzle with good bite, dark eyes giving bright alert expression; 3 Smith’s Javidel May Just Have Too. MPB (4) Three totally different types. 1 J Phillips’ Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses, 8 months, as neat as a new pin in excellent red coat, very short & compact, sweet expression, very tidy ears & dark eye, put down in immaculate condition, moved very freely & strode out happily keeping a level topline; 2 Hurrion’s Villassa All My Heart, just 6 months with the makings of a very promising puppy, moved happily striding out, attractive head with sweet expression, good length of neck & body, level topline but wish she had a better tail carriage; 3 Williams’ Greditch Amazing Grace. PB (4) 1 Phillips’ Blakens Party Girl, b/t, almost a year old, made a lovely picture in profile as she moved freely round the ring, very good proportions, pretty head with dark eye & correctly dropped ears, graceful neck to well laid shoulders, level topline & upright tail, enough substance & depth of body, in immaculate condition; 2 Atkinson’s Moortop Another No Choice, very close decision between these two. Slightly smaller red puppy, short & compact, moved well & put up a good performance, charming head, good width between well held ears, sweet expression, good mouth & bite, low to ground like her brother, fit & ready to go, in excellent harsh coat, level topline & super upright tail carriage, moved truly coming & going; 3 Glynn’s Brenin Vital Spirit at Kenberlynn. JB (7) 1 Hurrion’s Villassa Cherry Ripple, stylish light red of lovely proportions in good coat, turned out looking a picture, pretty head with good width of skull, neatly dropped ears & dark eye, moved alright. Not showing much spark or animation; 2 Gee’s Watercroft Top Of The Pops, close up to 1, very compact happy little red, shorter in leg than 1, very active & typy, I liked her head & overall shape with decent length of neck & short back with good tailset. Slightly softer coat but well turned out & keen to do her best for her handler; 3 Smith’s Javidel Definitely Maybe. PGB (6) 1 Bettesworth’s Kapitada Sweetness’n Light, low compact bitch in excellent coat, very responsive to handler watching her for every signal, lovely head with small neat ears, short muzzle & alert eye giving a most attractive expression, nice length of neck to short back & upright tail carriage, good body & turn of stifle, producing good propulsion from low set hocks; 2 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hazel, more rangy than 1 but well made, a lot to like about her, pretty head with good ears, dark eye & good mouth, good length of neck with level topline & well held tail, enough body & substance, moved well; 3 Lloyd’s Orison Thundercloud. LB (3) 1 Gee’s Watercroft Wedding Belle, a lovely quality bitch, everything in the right proportion with enough substance & body but overall totally balanced, beautiful head with neat ears, short muzzle & bright expressive eyes giving a most appealing expression, graceful reach of neck to good well laid shoulders & straight front legs, nice depth of brisket & well ribbed with level topline & good tailset, in full harsh red coat, moved straight & true to & fro & then extravagantly really covering the ground round the ring, I liked her a lot & was delighted to give her & her owner their first CC. OB (4) 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Hop And Skip, a real terrier, no toy this one, the real McCoy, an active workmanlike harsh red coated bitch, characteristic head with sparkling eye & excellent strong teeth with scissor bite, would surely be a menace to rats, just the right size, in hard condition with good muscletone, very correctly made with good body, well ribbed & a good turn of stifle. Just lacking a touch of glamour perhaps, preferred her head to 2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Silk Slippers, when she came into the ring she powered round, moving dramatically & looked terrific & the likely winner, was beautifully presented but was a bit disappointing on the table, not much of her under her immaculate coat, lacking bone & not the best of heads. Short in back, nice length of neck, level topline, good tailset; 3 Sweigart & Beale’s Yarrow Venerie Tip The Scale. CHERRY HOWARD |
