NORFOLK JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 13

Norfolk Terriers

An excellent mid week entry. I must report that the handling was a big worry for me. Harsh, heavy handling is no good for any breed especially one as intelligent as ours. Yes, I know they can all try us but really if fun isn’t encouraged as puppies then this leads to very bored adults as I also saw here. Some really good dogs just not interested.

The breed clubs have put on grooming workshops & our breed is very rare not presented correctly. Maybe the club should put on handling & understand the breed workshops. We have some excellent handlers I feel sure that as with the grooming workshops they would pass on their handling skills.

PD (5)

1 Phillips’ Jaeva Cufflink, my notes read wow & wow again. Super puppy, has everything in the right order to go to the top, his attitude is ‘look at me’. His handler knows just when & how to let this baby show himself. Excellent head & skull shape, large teeth set in strong jaw, well placed & used ears. Eye could be smaller. The best of shoulders, clean lead into a short firm back, topline held on the move, tail set on & held correct, straight front. Pasterns a little soft. Well angulated hindquarters, coat first class. I could go on but all I will say is look out for him, he has got to be a group winner. BP & RCC;

2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Seduction, promising b/t, all male, correct head, eye & shoulders, super bone, well padded feet, well handled & presented;

3 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Cash Back.

JD (1)

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Roll Call, 8 months red, in excellent order, firm neck, super head & expression. Movement especially in hindquarters needs to firm up but still only a baby. Super show boy.

PGD (2)

1 Lloyd’s Orison Thunderstorm, b/t, nice head, dark eye, large teeth, firm short neck, well angulated in hindquarters, well muscled, moved out well especially from short firm hocks;

2 Hilditch’s Watercroft Royal Mail, lovely red, sweet temperament, nice head, well placed ears, enough bone for size. A little short in upper arm so restricted front movement.

LD (4)

1 Phillips’ Blakens Xpress Yourself, sound dog, nothing overdone in any way, nice head, eye & ear placement, perfect teeth, firm neck, firm in topline, well sprung ribs, well angulated hindquarters, muscled & well padded feet, coat & handling was excellent. CC, his second, & BOB;

2 Ackling’s Ruby Rueben, nice headed Norfolk, correct expression, short firm body. Shoulders & front not so positive. Moved OK, good feet.

OD (3)

Difficult class.

1 Newton’s Strathinver Smart Enough, & he is but I am sorry to say his handler spoilt his chances. Sound dog, full of type, lovely typical head, firm topline, super bone & feet, tail well set on & held correctly. Pity;

2 Atkinson’s Moortop No Choice, excellent red, far too overweight & this pushed out his front & didn’t help movement at all. Coat rich deep red, handled well. Less weight please;

3 Phillips, Craddock & Collins’ Fontanesi Golden Chalice with Jaeva.

PB (7)

Excellent class of promising babies who I shall I am sure see change places when adult.

1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Just Magic, & she is. Once she settled (& was so sympathetically handled) one could see the magic. Red jacket, lovely make & shape, head, correct bite, well placed ears, firm neck, good shoulders, straight front & firm feet. Promising baby;

2 Phillips’ Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses, correct neck & shoulder placement, sweet head & expression, well placed ears, held topline & tailset on the move. Promising;

3 Devereux’s Vichea Geisha Girl.

JB (3)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Top Of The Pops, quality red, full of type, good length of muzzle, correct mouth, correct eye & ears, good length of neck, well laid shoulders, firm in topline. Felt handler could have been more sympathetic in her handling, bounced this young girl who was playing up on the move. Otherwise promising Norfolk.

PGB (5)

1 Lloyd’s Orison Thundercloud, anyone who cannot understand what a correct front & shoulder should be then please put your hands over this girl. My hands just flowed from the back of her ears onto her topline. Correct length of upper arm, she cannot move bad. Lovely head, dark eye, large bite. I almost considered her for the RCC but her b/t coat wasn’t presented well & her handler was over-fussy & she needs to relax. I shall watch this girl’s show career as I feel sure she could go far;

2 Craddock & Collins’ Fontanesi Golden Twist.

LB (5)

1 Gee’s Watercroft Wedding Belle, lovely bitch of quality, red coat, well presented, pleasing head, ears well placed, correct length of neck, firm short back, good for bone, good feet, moving out well, nice handling. Promising girl;

2 Newton’s Strathinver Reddy To Star, a lot to like about this red & maybe on another day the placement could be higher. Nice head, perfect bite, well placed & used ears. Would like more balance in upper arm so this did affect her front movement. Well angulated in hindquarters & moved quite well;

3 Saltmarsh’s Pipridges Hazel.

OB (5)

1 Stevenson’s Brickin Hop And Skip, honest bitch, lovely head, broad skull, correct length of muzzle, firm in neck, short firm body, tail set n & held correct. She could have put more into showing but did enough for me;

2 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Silk Slippers, correct size, well balanced, red coat, well presented, lovely head, very alert expression, correct bite, moved well from well angulated hindquarters, well muscled. Promising;

3 Sweigart & Beale’s Yarrow Venerie Tip The Scale.
