NORFOLK THREE COUNTIES 10 Judge/s:Miss M H E Matell
Norfolk Terriers The weather was cold & unfriendly but it didn’t rain & Norfolk people are as tough as their dogs so we stayed outside, the dogs look so much better against the green grass than the rather depressing concrete floor in the agricultural halls, there were several excellent bitches but sadly very few really good dogs & I know it wasn’t just at this show, there are few outstanding dogs in the ring this year. On the plus side: excellent, happy temperament, not a single one was shy or quarrelsome, good ears, correct size, good coats, generally correct bite, things to watch, long &/or weak forefaces, light eyes, wide fronts often due to corpulence, ‘fiddly’ restricted front movement & lack of propulsion behind, a plea, please cut your dogs’ nails before you take them to a show, so many had filmstar-long nails, even dogs owned by people who should know better. PD (8,1a) 1 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Star, well grown, masculine big framed 10 months dog, lovely eyes, good stop, strong head, moved well when he concentrated; 2 Devereux’s Vichea Pick Pocket, smaller b/t but still masculine, attractive head, beautiful eyes, super coat, front movement needs to settle, otherwise a good mover; 3 Stevenson’s Brickin Better Be Good. JD (2) 1 Jenkins’ Kinsridge Top Gun, the star of the day, so well made, excellent size, short & cobby, beautiful strong head with broad skull, well carried ears, lovely neck, good ribcage, excellent low, ground covering movement, expertly presented, on his best behaviour most of the time. To be super picky could have a slightly darker eye but then nobody is perfect. CC & BOB; 2 Hamar’s Lagdenfarm Bit Of A Lad, b/t, nice head, lovely eyes, sturdy body, excellent coat quality. Could have more neck, a little wide in front. Showed well. PGD (1) A. LD (2,1) 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Angelo, handsome & masculine, very good type, strong skull, lovely dark eye, good stop, robust strong body, free mover covering the ground well. Pressed kennelmate for RCC but needs to shorten up & grow into himself. OD (4,1) 1 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Blacklace, free easy moving b/t, nice size, lovely eye, well carried ears. Foreface could be a tad shorter. Excellent coat. Would like him a little more masculine. RCC; 2 Lloyd’s Orison Bootlace, short & well put together b/t, small but masculine, nice head with varminty expression, harsh coat, well trained showman; 3 Mitchell’s Roxway Direct Line. PB (10,3) 1 Phillips’ Blakens Dolly Mixture, quite a doll, short & cobby, lovely head & expression, good b/t coat, well presented. A little roly-poly which made her wide in front. BP; 2 Hitchen’s Kreatin Kiss N Tell, lovely head with strong foreface, sturdy body, moving covers the ground well. Not quite as short as 1; 3 Green’s Wharfvalley Diamond Diva. JB (6,2) 1 Cooper’s Settrenda Saucy Sox, lovely type, short & cobby, strong head, beautiful dark eye, moved freely covering the ground well, did everything asked of her. CC; 2 Ruffles’ Ruffnor Off The Peg, one I have admired since her debut in puppy, lovely type & outline, beautiful head, free mover. Not quite as cobby as 1 & short of coat but once she is fully clothed should trouble the best; 3 Phillips’ Vision Express at Blakens. PGB (8,2) 1 Ruffles’ Ruffnor Offbeat, excellent type, attractive head & expression, lovely topline & bone, moved & showed so well, in perfect nick; 2 Hitchen & Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville China Lace, appealing head & expression, cobby, excellent sturdy hindquarters, moved well; 3 Mitchell’s Richell Show Off. LB (5) 1 Hurrion’s Valentines Cherry Crumble, classy, very typy short bitch in too full a coat which hid her neck & outline. Lovely head & expression, moved well; 2 Atkinson’s Moortop Shandy Choice, longer than 1 but fell for her workmanlike no nonsense looks, very nice head & expression, harsh coat; 3 Phillips’ Blakens Party Popper. OB (4) Lovely class, best of the day, topped by two bitches who were typy & workmanlike but by no means plain. 1 Stevenson’s Brickin Neat And Tidy, attractive head, eye & expression, well made all over, harsh coat, showed herself well. Needs a little ‘finish’. Won on head & expression; 2 Claydon’s Brymarden Copper Kettle, short & compact, excellent outline, well presented, moved like clockwork; 3 Thompson-Morgan’s Belleville Red Dawn. |
